Wedding Favors?

my dh and I did shot glasses with our wedding date on them and hershey's kisses inside,

for my sis's wedding, I wrapped white candles in a navy blue tulle with a card on it - they were nice too.

our reception had a beach/ocean theme. instead of doing favors, i did handpainted nametags - i bought sand dollars in bulk from a craft store - painted them sky blue (one of our colors) and then in white painted people's names on them. many people saved them, and they served a dual purpose. :flower:

I thought I'd ask if anyone had any creative wedding favor ideas, or at least received a wedding favor they didn't throw away?

Wedding favours must not be a Texas thing because I've never gotten a favor from any of the weddings I've attended.

My wedding favor idea is to give Sir Elton John's CD Love Songs to your guests. The CD is an compiltation of his greatest love songs:

Can You Feel The Love Tonight
The One
Sacrifice
Daniel
Someone Saved My Life Tonight
Your Song
Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me [live with George Michael]
Believe
Blue Eyes
Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word
Blessed
Candle In The Wind [live]
You Can Make History (Young Again)
No Valentines
Circle Of Life

If EJ is not your guests' favourite then I'm sure there are some other CDs that you can give as wedding favors. You could buy a variety of CDs, put them on each individual tables, and let the guests choose amoung themselves.

I would stay away of engraving your wedding date, names, etc. on any wedding favors.

I like this idea:

donations-one wedding a couple had made donations to some charity in lieu of giving out gifts. They (or us actually) put a card stating the charity at each place setting

I have been trying to figure out ideas for my friends wedding and the cutest ones that I have seen and heard about are-

Fortune cookies which you can have the note inside personalized with a thanks you from the bride and groom.
A tissue packet that the guests will be able to use at the ceremony and take home.
Bubblegum bride and grooms.

Another thing that I suggested to my friend is releasing butterflies after the ceremony. That will be something very memorable to them and their guests.

I just went to a wedding a few weeks ago where the bride and groom gave out 128MG USB Key Drives. They're both CalTech kids, the groom works for Logitech and his group gave them to him as a "wedding gift." :) They put little silver bows on them. :)

It's phenomenally handy. I've been using mine to carry music from work to home to load it into my Ipod.
