DisneyDmbNut what an absolutely beautiful train! I absolutely LOVE it! You look fabulous!:flower3:

No, I'm getting it in the off-white. That color does NOTHING for me. I am a redhead with fair skin.

Totally understandable....i really wanted a dark cream color at first
then i put it on and my whole completxtion turned a horrid green:confused3

cant wait to see the real thing

Hey girls! I've been looking at this thread since I got engaged LAST summer and finally went for my first dress apt. on Friday. I am at a total loss and need some advice. First of all, customer service at David's Bridal was horrible. It was very overwhelming and I felt rushed and didn't get to try on all the dresses that I wanted to.

Okay, here is my first question: Do you have to be totally uncomfortable and sucked in with that bra corset?? I'm the kind of person that puts sweats on as soon as I walk in the door because I like to be comfy. The woman insisted that I wear this thing and was not listening to me when I told her I couldn't breathe!! And the third dress she had on me was way too tight and she was trying to tell me I'm supposed to be uncomfortable and that's how it's supposed to look!! Now I'm not overweight but there were rolls hanging over the dress in the back! I found it hard to believe that is how it's supposed to look.

Anyway, here are three that I kind of liked. I was kind of disappointed that I didn't have the "this is the one" feeling with any of them like I was told I would but I'm really indecisive and I think I set my expectations too high. So which one do you like best? I have a clear favorite but I'm not going to say until I get a few opinions. ;)

Dress #3 - This is the one that was too tight - or am I wrong? Was the salesgirl right?? Is it normal to look like that? Look at my back fat in the last pic!!

I'm going back next week to try on more. I wish I could take a whole day and be in there by myself and try on every dress without that woman breathing down my neck! So what do you think of the dresses? And what about my bra/corset problem?? THANKS!!

Niki - Definitely go to a different store! You should definitely not have an experience like that with such a special purchase! I think they look beautiful on you! And you definitely don't have to where a corset, if you don't want to

When I went to David's the sales women was of no help at all, I said I didn't want a big puffy veil, she wouldn't let me out of the dressing room till I had one. She made me put on the corest thing and I said I couldn't breathe so I took it off and let her be pissed. She also had me try on size 4 dresses when I know I'm a size 6.

You can get your bra cups stitched into your dress if you want to, I've heard other brides doing that.

Just remember David's sales people are trained to sell you EVERYTHING, not just the dress, so that's why she told you you had to have a corset, so that you buy a corset.

Just do what makes you feel comfortable, and don't fall into David's hard sales pitches. I liked some of their dresses and would have purchase one if I found one I liked, I'm just not a fan of their pushy sales practices. Try another David's because not all of them are like that

HTH:hug:

I had cups sewn into my dress, because the dress I bought fit perfectly without a corset. Don't wear one if you don't want to! There are a ton of undergarment options, including just normal strapless bras. If you're unhappy with the size, insist on the next size up. They did the same thing to me, "but you LOOK like a 4" Ok, that's great, but I'm not a 4.

Nikki--I really like the first one the best.

As for Davids Bridal, I also live in NJ and depending on the Davids Bridal I went to, the service was different. I am not sure which one you went to, but I went to the one in Wayne, and they were not pushy at all, and the saleslady that worked with me was great. When we went back for the BM dresses, the lady remembered me and was very helpful again. You may try to go back to a different David's if you are set on one of those dresses, or if you want to try more.

I'm kind of surprised to hear about bad experiences with David's Bridal. I've been there a number of times and worked with two different consultants and they were both a pleasure, very helpful, and not pushy at all.

I think you should try another store! I think every woman should have the feeling of "the one" for their wedding dress, so keep looking. And you definitely don't need a corset. I just wore a regular strapless bra, but you can wear whatever you're comfortable in. Good luck finding a dress!

Nikki,

I really love the dress in the first picture! It's gorgeous. But your dress has to feel like "the one." Why don't you try another David's Bridal or another bridal store altogether? I really liked David's, but I didn't have an experience like you had. I didn't try on any corset or anything and ended up choosing the dress I thought looked best on me.
