Ooh with some help, I think I've finally figured out how to do this. Let me know what you think.

WooHOOO...I did it. (Not real BB savvy, wasn't sure it would post.)

Everyone, your gowns are gorgeous!!

This is my dress. I love, love, love it! I just thought of something--Man oh man, I hope my fiance doesn't discover this site and see my dress!

I am wearing a Belgian "princess lace" fingertip length veil, a simple freshwater and swarovski crystal band type tiara on 14K gold wire, and gold swirly looking antique chandelier type earrings with pearls. No necklace. Stuart Wietzman silk satin 2 inch heels pumps--I got an amazing deal on them. They are kinda "blah" but what the heck. Weitzman's, on sale...couldn't pass them up.

I absolutely love this dress, please let me know what you think of this. It's available in white or this one which is deep ivory with the gold sash, I so love it :lovestruc I haven't bought it yet but even though i keep looking at other dresses, I really really love this one. Mind you will have to lose the weight before I get into this one!

I Love that!

I love it, SC. Very elegant. Do you want the ivory and gold, or the white? Either would be beautiful. When is your wedding, again? I guess I think of ivory and gold for fall/winter, and white for spring/summer--but either would be lovely anytime.

Good luck with the weight loss! I lost 15, want (will!) lose another 10 by the wedding--you can do it! :cheer2:

Yes, I do LOVE this dress. I'm really not sure what color I want, I asked them if they could provide me with an image of what the dress looks like in white, and although I really wanted white, and I never really considered any other color, it looks just beautiful the way it is. I'm not sure if deep ivory is my color though, will have to try a dress in that color on and see I guess.

My wedding is August 17th 2007, so i have a lot of time to lose the weight. Congrats on the amount you have lost so far :cheer2: I'm worried about ordering it though as I will DEFINATELY lose the weight before my Wedding. I need to so I can eat all the gorgeous food when I get to Disney  I don't know how long I should leave it before I order the dress, it might become discontinued and I'm not ordering for the size I am now, I want to order it for the size I will be, and I am being realistic. I think if I had my Wedding Dress in the size I want to be it would encourage me more. Has anyone ever done that, ordered their dress in a smaller size???

I love your dress choice! :thumbsup2 I have a sash too!!!

...and my bridal shop ordered my dress a size or two bigger than what I was at the time...and I'm sure glad they did! But, people do order dresses in smaller sizes all the time...but I don't think the bridal shop where I went would have allowed me to because it's always easier to alter it smaller than to alter it bigger...plus it causes a lot of stress on yourself to fit into a smaller size by a certain date. :)

Hey SC! When it comes time to order the dress, I really would encourage you to not place the additional stress on yourself by ordering the dress in a smaller size. As Moonpie said, it is so much simpler to alter the dress down--and a strapless dress with a full skirt is super easy. Don't put that stress on yourself, and just order it the size you are at ordering time.

I am not sure who the designer of your gown is, but I would order the dress 5 months in advance, providing they quote the normal 12 to 16 weeks. Yes, you will still be losing weight, and they will need to alter the dress for you after it comes in, but think how great you will feel when the seamstress fusses at you for how much smaller she is having to make your gown! ;)

I think I love the idea of a white dress in August, especially if that is your dream. Is your dress organza, or chiffon? A sash in a pretty, summmery color---oh, man--it will be so beautiful! Your dress reminds me of dresses I have seen done by Watters & Watters. I almost ordered a dress like yours from the bridemaids collection (they have white and ivory, and you can save hundreds of dollars by purchasing from the bridesmaids collection) but in the end succumbed to a Kenneth Pool. But check out Watters and Watters, and Marisa brides--they both have styles similar to yours, and maybe you can get a break on price. Marisa makes all their dresses in silk fabrics, and the prices are very competitive.

Thanks for the congrats on the weight loss--I work out 4 to 5 times a week, eat healthy and think positively--and I am probably in the best shape of my life. and if I can do it--anyone can!

Actually i wanted to order my dress in a smaller size....but my designer wouldn’t hear of it....even thought i told her there was no way i'd be that size when i got married...(and she has a mini 8-9 months for a gown)....she insisted i order it so it would fit...when i walked in the shop 50lbs lighter she just smiled and gave me a discount on my alterations for all my hard work...

Now i so agree there is no need to add the extra stress....and the whole what if it doesn’t fit would just be to much to take.......plus it was such a good feeling when it just fell off in the store

Thank you!! I do have it already. It's actually the one thing that I am WAAAY ahead of schedule on. I just loved it so much I couldn't wait. Hopefully if all goes according to plan, I will be having it taken in a lot though. I loved the whole top layer of organza and the beading. I don't think you can tell in this picture, but the beads in the flower design matches the green ribbon.

The only thing about not ordering it in a smaller size, is that I am ordering this dress completely online. There aren't any stores over here that sell that dress, and I  it, I think I may have started to look at dresses to soon, it would have been easier if I had lost the weight already then I could have just ordered it! I'm so worried that it will be discontinued and I'll lose it :sad2:

I asked the designer if they had an image of it in white but she said it had only been photographed in deep ivory, so I have to imagine it, do you think it would look as nice in white? I really like the dress the way it is, with the gold sash and everything, but I never really thought it was a choice, I always thought, white was the dress I would have.

I'm so confused

SC--Too soon? I dunno. It takes time. Some "experts" say one should begin to look a year in advance. I started looking early (too early, I thought) but as it turns out I won't even have my dress until November 30--two weeks before the wedding. Barely enough time to get alterations--so better to look too early rather than be rushed and have to pay more for rush cuts and shipping.

As to the size thing, and buying on the internet; no matter where you buy your dress, it will still need alterations. 90 percent of the dresses do, so they say, so that is not really a factor. Same general principles apply.

Ask the bridal shop if they can send you sample swatches of the material, since they don't have a picture of it in white. Also, I really strongly encourage you to shop around. The type of gown you are looking for is a strapless gown, with a pick-up style skirt, and there are several designers carrying that style. Watters brides is one.

As for white and ivory--there are so many different shades. I think white looks more summer-y, but that is only in general. There are exceptions to every rule. Look for a shade that compliments yor skin tone.

There are no stockists of Eden Bridal here in Scotland :sad2: That is why I would need to buy it online. Also buying a dress from the states is much cheaper :thumbsup2

I figured I would go to a salon and try on a similar color, style etc, to see if it suits me. Hmmm, I'm now thinking I should just go for the white.
