Wedding cake layers

...We're going to serve the bottom layer and then box the top layer for us to enjoy on our honeymoon at the Wilderness Lodge. The idea of saving it for a year grosses me and DF out!

This is exactly what we did. We served the bottom two layers at our reception and ate our "Anniversary Layer" during our honeymoon. We called it our "Honeymoon Layer"!

We plan on getting a new cake from the GF Bakery when we go down for our 1st Anniversary next May. And hopefully we can keep doing that every year.

I asked about a fake layer for my cake. They said no, because they charge based on the decoration and not the cake itself.

As for getting the leftovers, it depends on your coordinator. Mine not only told me that we could give the leftovers to guests, but gave me tips on what to hand out the cake in. I would also like to mention that I had my reception in Epcot.

We did keep our anniversary layer, and I hope that it is still good in December.
