**Wearing PJ's in the theme parks**

I have to ask what type of job would allow someone to work their with their undearwear showing? Certainly not where I work. Where is this allowed?

I work for a forture 50 company in the customer service division. We have about 800 employee's onsite. You would be shocked at what you see here often, but when a company has had litigation brought against them for harrasment for disciplining employee's on their violoations of dress code, its not suprising they let them get away with that. It takes something extreme to get coached on. I believe the last time I saw it happen was when a lady wore her panty hose as pants with a baby doll t-shirt. NOT leggings, panty hose. The shocking thing is our location is 'stricter' than some of our other 20 so in the US and I see that here. Ironically our international locations are much better in the dress code areas, seems if you live in a poverty stricken country your APPRECIATE your job more and take pride in how you look for work. But that's a whole other story.........

I don't really care one way or the other what people wear. I'm not sure the PJs-as-clothes thing has caught on where I live (Atlanta) because I haven't seen it at all. Of course, it may be because its sweltering down here and PJs wouldn't be comfy in this heat. I do see a lot of the track shorts previously mentioned, however.

The thing that confuses me is the hate toward tank tops. Why would someone's bare arms bother you?

how very true that being poor has nothing to do with it.. some of the PJ's out there such as the Abercrombie & Fitch or Hollister that some wear out cost more than some of the "pants or shorts" the one taking offence may be wearing....:goodvibes

No, I don't feel being poor has anything to do with people wearing pajama pants out anywhere. I have a few pair of American Eagle pj pants/lounge pants that cost around 30.00, and believe you me I wear those out, for 30.00 they aren't going to sit in my closet or just be worn at home. It's not laziness, it's comfort. And by no means am I poor, or rich for that matter. However, if someones choice of pants or attire even had offensive words or images, I myself wouldn't be offended, but I'm sure if little ones were around, their parents would be, and I agree with that, and I'd be offended for the parents. But like someone else said, you can't change anyone, and people are gonna wear what they want to wear. When you sit down and think about how hard it is to change yourself, imagine how hard it would be to change others (and not that we should try to change others, in most instances). And who knows, maybe someone wearing a nice casual dress outfit may offend someone else? Offending someone doesn't stop at pajama pants. I feel though, it is very important in life for me to be "not easily offended." Life is too short to get offended by someone who wears ducks on their pants, there is much more for me to be concerned with.

I get putting PJs on little children, but adults wearing PJs in public? hm okay. The only time I ever do that is when the fire alarm goes off in the condo.

that is very true, life is too short to worry about what others are wearing.. and as Dr Seuss once said....
"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." ;)

Simply... it's tacky and lazy.

For the amount of money that people spend buying lots of cheap clothes that fits poorly and falls apart, people could buy less clothing that's more expensive (i'm not talking about $150 pairs of jeans and over-priced crap) and of a higher quality. I swear by this rule (I'm a guy). For example, my favorite and longest lasting pair of dress shoes were $125. They have outlasted many a pair of $50 pairs.

Sweat pants hardly ever flatter anyone's figure, and while I know it sounds completely judgmental or superficial, I really feel like people should have pride in their personal appearance. I'm not talking about supermodel looks and whatnot. Almost anyone can look good and be comfortable if wearing appropriate clothing. I'm just talking personal pride. I personally suggest that people watch "What Not to Wear" on TLC or BBC.

The sad part is that people who wear tacky and figure-inappropriate clothing probably don't know any better. I figure that most people don't go around wanting to look like buffoons.

It's no wonder that Europeans are horrified by American Tourists. :)

I'll get off my soap box.

To each his own, I suppose.

:scared1: horrified at American Tourists.....at least 99% of the Americans wear Deodorant & the woman shave..
no offence to any particular country of origin here.. but true...

I won't allow DD13 to wear PJ pants out of the house; IMO it's not cool. My comment to DD13 about PJ pants is inappropriate for a public forum so I'll keep it to myself; she understands why they are only for home.

DH says they are NOT sexy; even on beautiful women.

But, that's my family. What other families chose to wear is their own business. I don't care.

Agreed. Most of the time, a 90.00 pair of jeans will last longer some than a 10.00 pair. However, some people don't think this way, and also can't afford to drop 90.00 on one pair of jeans, to some people, that's throwing away money. My best friend for instance, her logic is, "I can get 9 pairs of jeans at 10.00, rather than spending 90.00 on one pair." I don't call her lazy, (she is an LPN and works 40+ hours a week). I have pride in my personal appearance as well, every pair of clothing I own has a name brand stamped on it (AE, Old Navy, Ralph Lauren, Tommy, etc) because you're right, they DO last longer, in my opinion.

I DO wear sweatpants/lounge pants outside of my home. I am also not a size 7, either, but that doesn't mean that I have "fat" pockets hanging out at every angle. But what looks good to others, may not look good to you, and vice-versa. You think I really go out in sweatpants worrying if Joe Blow down the street thinks I look flattering? Or if Sally at wal-mart will think my sweatpants are hideous? No, not in the least.
And you're right, it does sound superficial and judgmental, but that's okay, because you don't have to answer to anyone on here, and to each their own. But I do hope that you don't avoid people wearing "unflattering" attire, because they could be the sweetest person in the world, and it's definitely what is on the inside that counts. Not a pair of unflattering pajama pants. Our body is just our shell - it doesn't make who we are. Who we are is on the inside. I am Nicole - not skin, not fat, not ears, nose or eyes. And if someone feels that a pair of sweatpants with ducks on them, looks good on them, then so be it. But to say it's lazy I think is somewhat ridiculous - I am by far not lazy, and also work 40+ hours a week that requires me to wear a certain uniform. By golly if I come home from a long day, and throw on sweatpants to relax, and I need to go somewhere, my sweats are coming with me, I could really careless what people think/say. If those people have nothing better to do than to make comments about my pants, well then, there life must be pretty boring.

::yes:: very well said... and no one should judge anyone on attire only. You can have the best dressed nasty snob in the world.. and the most awesome down to earth slob too.. :upsidedow

So do the people who wear PJ pants outside in the daytime wear the same ones to bed - like a 24/7 thing or are they actually putting them on as pants?

I think it looks silly but they are just pants. Our school has so many "wear your pj's to school" days (to reward the kids for this or that) - I guess they are growing up thinking it is normal to wear your pj's all over.:upsidedow

Agreed!! There is a guy who walks around my town, and others have come to the conclusion that he is homeless, this I don't know, but it doesn't matter to me if he is or isn't. He constantly wears the same shirt, and carries a bag with him, and he is the SWEETEST man ever!!

OFF topic - how do you multi-quote?! lol

Speaking for myself - if I wear my sweatpants as pants all day, I do not wear them to bed!
