**Wearing PJ's in the theme parks**

IMO unless it is 1994 and you are on your way to a 7am college class its not appropriate.
Change this to 1998 & this was me. My dorm was on the 10th floor and I had an 8am class on the 6th floor of the same building. I'd roll out of bed, put on a bra (:rotfl:) & go to class. Then back upstairs & go back to sleep for a bit before my 10am (which was a dance class so I sort of had to get dressed for it).

My sister wore PJ pants to school in high school all the time.

I used to live in the French Quarter of New Orleans, two doors down from the highly touristy Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop bar on Bourbon Street. I would get a great kick out of going in there on a Saturday night around midnight in my PJ bottoms, T-shirt and flip flops to use the ATM (before ordering dinner delivered). All the tourist girls in little black dresses and impossibly high heels would stare, and I'd just giggle.

But out in public? Not so much. Only for an occasional late-night run to Walmart. My ex-husband used to do the PJ bottom thing a lot, and I hated it. I'm not sure why it's any harder/less comfortable to slip into yoga pants and a decent shirt, even if you don't want to go all-out.

That being said, I agree with those who said the PJs are much better than the ultra short shorts. I'm only in my early 30s, but I felt really old in Colonial Williamsburg the other day. A show let out, and a group of about 50 teenage girls flooded out, all wearing butt-baring shorts, tank tops and flip flops. I looked down at my black jeans, Sweeny Todd t-shirt and Converse high tops, and decided not to even try to compete LOL

And to think that long-haired men were denied entrance to Disneyland until the late 60's. Wonder what they would have done to someone who showed up in their pajamas?

Okay, that's perfectly acceptable and made me laugh out loud!

With all the athletic type clothing you can buy that is extremely comfortable, there is no need to wear pj pants out and about. Yoga pants come to mind. Although still very casual they look much better!

Saying that, I did wear pj pants at Six Flags once. I ripped my pants on something so I had to buy me a pair of Wonder Woman pj pants to wear for the remainder of the day!!!!! I looked really dumb but I figured better to look silly then have everyone see my undies!

We were taking my ILs and a cousin to dinner at Chef Mickey one night (they live in FL). The little cousin was probably about 4 and DD was 6. We show up at Chef Mickey and my MIL had purchased matching "dresses" for the girls to wear. So she takes DD into the bathroom with the cousin and promptly changes them into - you guessed it - nightgowns! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: They were cute blue ones with Cinderella on them. And she was so excited that I didn't say a word until we got back to the hotel room. And then I burst out laughing. DH was absolutely clueless.
My MIL had no idea they were pajamas (still doesn't). The girls loved them and that's all that mattered. And the pictures are cute. :goodvibes

This is exactly what I was thinking. They sell yoga pants for every age. There is no reason why any person at any age needs to leave the house in pj bottoms. The world sells enough comfortable/elastic waist pants.

I was a somewhat lazy, loved-to-be-comfortable, didn't-believe-in-dressing-up college student in 1994, and even I didn't do this.

it doesn't really offend me, but I think it looks terrible. It doesn't take that long to put pants on in the morning.

Sorry, but I don't care if it's a trend or not, it's tacky. I see it all over NY where I'm from and it's horrible!! Put on a pair of yoga pants, sweat pants, leggings, ANYTHING but your fleecey puppy pj's for crying out loud!!! I have to say, I haven't seen it in WDW but it wouldn't surprise me if it did.

There are only a handful of times that it is "ok" for a grown person to wear pj's out of the house: Heading to Walmart/drug store late at night to get meds for a sick kid or spouse, heading to the ER or hospital late at night with a sick kid or spouse, heading over a friend's house to watch TV for the night (ie - you walk out of your door, into your car, into your friend's driveway, into your friend's house... nobody in "public" sees you LOL!!!)

I HATE seeing people in their pj's out and about. It is classless, trashy and lazy. Being poor is no excuse either because you can get a pair of sweatpants for the same cost of a pair of pj bottoms.

I see this trend all over my city (Philly) and hate it! I think it's quite tacky and to me, it shows you have no pride in how you dress. As I think most of us can agree, slipping into a different pair of pants - any pants! - isn't too hard of a task.

One of the two times I went out in my pajamas was when I was rushed to the ER with appendicitis, and even then I tried to put on something a bit nicer than snowflake pajama pants and a huge 2XL tee. I tried to get into some yoga pants and a tee shirt but I ended up collapsing and stopped caring what I looked like, considering I was about to take my own appendix out! :rotfl: The second time was at CBR in 2006 when my friend called me lost and crying from somewhere in the resort. It was about 1am, and I was running around like a madwoman in some pretty entertaining plaid flannel pants and henley set, complete with the messy hair and coke-bottle glasses. I am sure I was a sight to see! As for my friend, I found her in a room with the ice machines a village away.

But other than the occasional quick run here or there, say for medicine, an ATM, the ER...I just don't get this trend.

I don't know, but I think it screams of laziness for anyone over 18yrs old

I don't disagree, but it's not a new trend at all.

Saw a girl (lady isn't a good description of her even though she is 40+) last week in her bathing suit cover up, masquerading it as a dress. No joke, my MIL has the same one.

Well now, what if MIL is wearing a dress as a bathing suit coverup? I was at Target yesterday and saw what I thought was a coverup, but it was called a Kimono Dress, and was being sold with the proper clothes. Ya never know!

You cannot go to job interview in jeans as well,

Well, at amazon it would be suggested. Or at maximum, khakis. :)

Awesome.......

Went there during the "vampire tour" on my first solo trip there. So touristy it was painful, but also very fun at the same time!

I *once* wore pj bottoms out. Flannel, button-fly, very very comfy. Company I worked for was being sold, and we had to get all the paperwork and files boxed up. We had a few weeks of LONG hours. One night I knew I would be working past midnight, and decided to be comfy. Wore the flannel PJ bottoms. On public transit. I felt like such a fool! Very very comfy while working, but getting TO work and then from I felt like an idiot. So I don't know how people can be *comfortable* wearing them out and about, but since my experience was when I was 27 and I'm now 40, and I was a late adopter of the fashion, it's definitely NOT new!

I was raised to "dress up" 9so to speak) when going out, pj's (no matter what variety) and even sweat pants unless you are working out where for home use. That being said I would rather see pj pants on people than spandex, short shorts (butt cheeks popping out) and tank tops..nothing more gross than eating in a resturaunt, and somebody (male) seating a foot from you is eating and your looking at their nasty sweaty pit hair....it can be smelly too....

As I look out over some of my co-workers now dear I assure you they can get jobs and do. With thier underoo's hanging out and all.

I have to ask what type of job would allow someone to work their with their undearwear showing? Certainly not where I work. Where is this allowed?

What gets me is grown woman in full PJs out in public. I work at a school and many of the parents walk in from the neighborhood across the street to pick up their kindergartners at 11:50. I see them when I'm taking my afternoon preschoolers off the bus. These moms come walking in wearing their PJ tops and bottoms and sometimes slippers! Their hair is messy and they're not wearing make-up. They look like they just rolled out of bed and decided to walk across the street. Sometimes they stand and have conversations with their kid's teacher in full-bedhead mode. Can't these people bother to at least look presentable when coming to their child's school?

Honestly I don't see any problem with it... it's Disney after all, not some luxurious ball. As long as it's tasetful, in essence it's just a pair of pants. It's not about being lazy, it's more about convience and comfort. (I work with teenage girls and often times they have "sleeping" pyjamas and then "going out" pyjamas. LOL )

Pj's don't bother me - I would much rather see someone in them than the 3 inches of butt crack I see every morning when I drop my son at preschool - there is a mom who always manages to be there at the same time and she wears her pants 2-3 sizes to small, and they are low cut ones - so she has a nice loaf top (much more than a muffin top) and about 3 inches of crack showing out of the top of her pants - before she even bends over to kiss her kids.

As for park wear - pj's don't bother me, socks and crocs don't bother me, I am too busy enjoying myself to worry about it :confused3

I remember one time a little bit after Christmas my sister, mother, and I went to the supermarket in feety pajamas. Yes, the pajamas that cover all of you and your feet. :) It was about 9 at night and we had gotten new feety pajamas, so why not?

I (somehow) get dressed in the morning at Disney, though. I can see why they would, though. I agree with some people here, if they aren't showing anything inappropriate, I don't care. It wouldn't look good in pictures, but oh well. They can chose what they want to wear.

Speaking of balls - 2 years ago at our USMC unit ball I saw a wife wearing a fancy cocktail dress and foam flip flops...no joke!

I would wear PJs to the parks!! :)
Honestly, I feel that you should wear whatever you feel comfortable in, as long as it doesn't offend anyone. Now having your thong stick out of the back of your jeans... That's a different story. I'd rather everyone wear PJs than that! :cool1:
