**Wearing PJ's in the theme parks**

Boy....

I never would have imagined in my wildest dreams, someone talking about going out in public in their bed clothes and comparing it to women's suffrage!

Using a laundry basket as a tv stand is almost as practical as a beer keg. Not sure what that has to do with going out in public in your underwear/pajama's. :confused3 For what it's worth as a matter of fact, I am the pajama police.

pirate:

My point was, that many things can serve two purposes. Yes, I can sleep in my pajama's, and yes, I can go out in public with them if I so choose to. I wasn't trying to make a point about "suffrage" in any way shape or form.

I didn't make a personal attack, never once did I say, "Joybeth, you have a boring life," I said "people," which relates to people in general. Sit and think about it though, if I, spend my day worrying about what so and so is doing down the street from me, MY life must be pretty boring.

And I am not small minded in the least, so now who is making personal attacks? Maybe if you got off your high horse, and actually read all my posts on here, you would find that I am not small minded at all. I could give a rats butt about what people choose to wear, it is there business, not mine, and again, I don't revolve my life around others and what their wearing. I am very, open minded, thank you!

Interesting further!! So, you didn't make a "personal attack" until this post then? Yes Sweets, you are not letting your life "revolve" around worrying about what people wear...., just what they "write"! :cool1:

no they are not two completely different things.. PJ's and lounge wear are basically the same.. this thread also even touched on how it is not appropriate to even wear sweat pants.. I am not confused.. this thread has touched on everything.. what I consider PJ's may not be what you consider... I think you are the one confused...

I agree! What I consider pajama's is a pair of basketball shorts and a tee-shirt. Or a pair of sweatpants and a tee shirt. They aren't old, or holey either. I also wear these types of styles out in public. I don't think it deems me lazy, because I could have just as easily grabbed a pair of jeans and a top. However, when mother nature decides to visit, and I'm sure all women can concur, I don't want to be in a pair of jeans or something that is snug.

I am not "worried" about what people write, dear Jeff. And I also didn't make any personal attacks on ANY of my posts. I find this thread and peoples differences in opinions quite interesting. And I suppose I could say the same for you, by your own logic, being "worried" about what people write? Hmm...maybe "worried" isn't the right word.

Hey Brunette
I read through all the pages, and wow....gone are the days of OPINIONS on the DIS boards, you know that!
It's all DISney police and nastiness.....what did you expect, lol?
HEY,I looked up the definitions of PJs and Lounge wear for the person who said they were the same thing?
They are not. Websters defines pjs or pajamas as clothing worn to bed or to go to sleep. Lounge wear is defined as "articles of clothing suitable to wear during leisure time, esp around the home"
Don't flame me, this is right out of the dictionary.
Sorry the teacher in me made me post this. lol.....
Anyways, mark me down as I think it's tacky for older people to wear them but hey, that is my opinion.
Young children or teens, it's trendy, go for it!
Anyways, BRUNETTE, to answer that question, we arrive on the 15 but go to US first then check into Disney on the 16-22. Wish you were there then....would be cool to see ya!

i thought Hugh settled this debate decades ago and it is fully appropriate to wear PJ's as Lounge Wear...it works for him, just sayin':rolleyes1

Yes Sweets, you are surely entitled to wear what you want, if you "so choose". Freedom is a wonderful thing! Each one of us, has the opportunity to present ourselves how we see fit. Even if that means running around in clothes that make us look silly.

I had a kid that worked for me some years back. A good kid but he was into some sort of thing where he had black clothes, black nails, black hair and piercings all over. He always got angry, when people would laugh at him and couldn't understand why he was always being picked on. How sad it was, that under all that stuff, there was a good kid that no one ever saw. Comparing that to pajamas isn't entirely similar, I know. But how one presents themselves, is how they are going to be treated. It's a fact of life. Pajamas don't belong in public in most people's opinions. There is no law against wearing them but there should be no surprise when people whom do, get teased about it.

I have never gotten teased, to my face, about wearing sweatpants, or my definition of pajama pants in public. Yes, it is sad that people are judged on their appearance and what they wear. But I think when we take time to look inside a person, beyond what they wear or what they look like, is a reward. I admire people who are different, and who don't care how others perceive them.

I support people's right to be as trashy as they wish! But I'm not saying what I consider trashy. ;)

Well, this has been fun, but it's time for me to get back to my boring life. Off to put on my PJs!

:thumbsup2

If you are happy, then go for it! No one's telling you otherwise! And for the record, I would never "tease" you for what you wear. But I can't help what goes through my head! I would guess most people would do the same. As I said, the choice is yours!:woohoo:

I plainly stated that I did not mean to pick on you. Many posts in this thread have the same tone as your post. But your post happened to be the most recent in the thread at the time. I was trying to stay on topic.

By the way, I did not judge *you* by your grammar and composition. I merely pointed out that if I were to judge *posters* by their composition skills, it wouldn't really be any different than judging someone based upon their attire. Many posters rant and rave that judging a person by the composition of his or her internet postings is wrong, wrong, wrong. Yet judging people by their choice to wear pajama bottoms to the supermarket is fine?

My intent was to give some perspective: how would "y'all" feel if someone judged you by ... ? I'm sorry that my post was perceived as some personal attack.[/QUOTE]

Thank you for your graciousness. Apology accepted.:flower3:My bad if I mis-read your post. Take care. Brunette

Well, I raised in a sophisticated kind of style
Yeah, my taste in music and women drove my folks half wild
Mom and dad had a plan for me, it was debutantes and symphonies
But I like my music, I like my women wild

Yeah, I like my women just a little on the trashy side
When they wear their clothes too tight and their hair is dyed
Too much lipstick and too much rouge
Gets me excited, leaves me feeling confused
And I like my women just a little on the trashy side

Should've seen the looks on the faces of my dad and mom
When I showed up at the door with a date for the senior prom
They said, well, pardon us son, she ain't no kid
That's a cocktail waitress in a Dolly Parton wig
I said I know it dad, ain't she cool, that's the kind I dig

Good God, I wish I had a camera when I was at my favorite Mexican restaurant tonight (it's not too far down the road from WDW). A rather large woman (no disrespect mean to large people...I'm not a skinny minnie myself) was wearing skin-tight light beige but disturbingly transparent pants through which you could see her panties and other things I really didn't want to see. Personally I don't give a rat's butt what people wear, but I do have to say it didn't really do my appetite any good. Trust me, no matter what your opinion on PJs in public, they would have looked MUCH better than her actual attire.

Hey Tiggergirl!

Yea, I just came back from the gym and read some of the nasty grams in this thread. As mentioned by another poster I'm not sure why people are getting on the defense and angry. :confused3 I'm also not sure why 2 people on here are making this personal? The thread is entitled "Wearing PJs in theme parks" It was to generate people's opinions and or discussion. But unfortunately, as so many other threads on this forum, it has become personal. Unbelievable.

DARN!!! I leave on the 15th! We're staying at the WL! I can't believe I will just miss you! Sheesh.

So how are they not the same when it comes to wearing them at the parks. One you sleep in, one you wear around your house. Now the teacher in you should know that around your house doesn't mean Disney.. so either way, they fall into the same category... which is why I say they are not completely different. I am not flaming you, I know the teacher in you made you look it up ;) Did you happen to look up sweats? They should fall into the athletic department, to be worn during exercise. If walking in those parks all day isn't exercise, I don't know what is...:goodvibes

I am making it personal because you guys were actually calling my DD's tacky, no class, lazy etc.... yes, my DD's wear their, what ever you care to call them, out in public. They are neat, clean, not cheap by any means, fit well and not wrinkled as if they slept in them. They did not sleep in them. My DD is actually out right now in a T-shirt and poka-dotted "flannel" shorts going to get ice cream for my DH who is in bed just home from surgery. Are they considered Pj's because they are flannel? Is she going to wear them to bed.. no.. she looks very comfy, clean and neat.. not tacky, classless and she is not lazy, she is the one out doing the running around. She is 21.. almost 22... does that excuse her? So yeah, I took it personally. When one uses words like that to describe someone out in Pj's, they need to think twice who they may be offending.. so is it personal & now that I got someones attention as to how they are putting down others they do not even know maybe you can understand why it would be personal.. :goodvibes
People need to think before they use words that attack someone. Words can hurt & can never be taken back..

and a little back ground on the one who is out in Pj's right now.. she works full time as a server, attends the local University full time and also is doing an internship with FOX news. She has a 3.9 GPA, doesn't drink, smoke or do drugs.. she takes care of herself, watches what she eats, exercises, has manners and can be a very classy young lady (I guess only when not in pj's). She is very well spoken and would help anyone who asked for help. She is not a teen/young adult getting by on mommy and daddy. She helps pay for her tuition, pays her own car insurance & phone bill. She saves most of her money..and her choice of purses are coach.. yep she has her $300 coach bag out with her now in her pj's.. is that classy enough for some? Oh and to add another comment that someone had said about wearing only name brands and nothing but the best.. the outfit she has on now is Abercrombie & Fitch...and the sweat suits she prances around in are Juicy.. so yeah, trashy, tacky outfits can be pricey name brands too...
