We just watched The Rocky Horror Picture Show for the 1st time!

I went to a midnight showing once in my teens and once in college.:thumbsup2
The one in my teens was waaay more fun!:cool1: Looking probably 1978-81?
I can't remember.:lmao:

See it-- I used to be in it!

If you saw a live production (with the movie and actors), it would even make a sailor blush! -- at least our production would anyway.

I know everyone here knows this story--but that is where I met my DH!

:lmao: I so wanted to play Magenta in the production at our theater.

Michael Rennie was ill the day the Earth Stood Still
But he told us where we stand.
And Flash Gordon was there in silver underwear
Claude Rains was the Invisible Man.
Well, then something went wrong
Both Fay Wray and King Kong
They got caught in a celluoid jam
And at a deadly pace
It came from outer space
And this is how the message ran...

In undergrad I was the head of the cinematic arts committee and every year they show the RHPS at midnight and so I had to do the program and I had NO idea what all this random stuff I was buying (bread for toast, rice, latex gloves, etc) was all for. But I had such a good time and we had a costume contest and there were some amazing ones!

I own the DVD. :rolleyes1

There's a theater near work that has a midnight showing once a month or so. I haven't been yet though.

I wonder how many theaters still show it? I need to google and find one near me ;)

And I really got hot when I saw Janet Scott
Fight a Triffid that spits poison and kills [Yay, kills]
Dana Andrews said prunes gave him the runes
And passing them used lots of skills [yay, skills]
But when worlds collide [BOOM!], said George Pal to his bride

Oh-oh at the late night, double feature, picture show.
I wanna go, oh-oh, to the late night double feature picture show.

I left out the really rude ones, but I can't hear it without singing the audience participation ones

I was wondering, because I was singing along and saw a few missed parts. I didn't think any theater offered a PG rated participation. Though our theater did not allow squirt guns or toast. We had to be searched before because some idiot put bleach in their gun one time. Plus, the toast kept tearing wholes in the movie screen.

It's just a jump to the left!!!

Love this movie!!!!!! My DH just doesn't "get it" but I love it. :thumbsup2 So fun when you have a full theatre of participants.

In college we would go to the local theater (the Roxy) every Saturday night at Midnight, complete with costumes and props!:thumbsup2 Just not the same on video, but I still love it.

How do you do?
I see you've met my
Faithful handyman.
He's just a
Little put-out
When you knocked
'Cause he thought you were the Candyman.

Don't get strung out
By the way I look
Don't judge a book by its co-o-ver.
I'm not
Much of a man
By the light of day
But by night I'm one hell of a lover.

I'm just a
Sweet Transexual
(Sweet transexual!)
From Transylvania-uh-uh.

Why don't you...
Stay for the night?
(NIGHT!)
Or maybe a bite?
(BITE!)

Oh my, good times, good times.
What's sad is how many of the actual words I still remember and i haven't been to a theater showing in ages.
I liked the midnight participation shows, but actually also just really like the music.

Tim Curry as Dr. Frankenfurter...*sigh*

agnes!

If you are going to see it make sure the audience is allowed to yell and throw things first, otherwise it's just not worth it. Here is a site that tells you what to bring and how to use it. There is some swearing on the web site so if you easily offend or are a kid dont click on the link. Can I get in trouble/reported for posting the link? If so I need to know so I can remove it!

:lmao: I so wanted to play Magenta in the production at our theater.

I was Magenta, Janet (only one time) and background person. Mostly background person.. but Magenta was FUN!
Janet was tough... you're in your underwear more as Janet than Magenta! The floor show scene is pretty funny if you can handle it!

DH (well boyfriend at the time) was Riff once, Brad (only one time), and background. I think he did Eddie once as well. I also dated a guy who played Dr. Scott in the same show.

I wonder how many theaters still show it? I need to google and find one near me ;)

It is pretty sexually explicit and a lot of cursing.. just giving you a heads up!

The sheets scene well... that gets crazy all the time. This is the scene in the movie when Rocky comes to visit Brad... well, that is acted out! Our rendition made most people BLUSH!

My theater was torn down recently. It was the Harwan theater in Mt. Ephraim NJ. It was one of those places where there was one big theater with a balcony, dressing rooms and a real stage. This stage was the same stage that Abott and Costello would perform on... so that was a very cool piece of history.

Now, it's an empty lot and a Walgreen's. I'm still mad about it and it's been a year.

Here's a Wiki entry for the Harwan

Here's a write up of my old friends.. the Transducer Players
