After going over photos and pricing etc. we finally decided to switch our split stay ressie between ASMO/GF to just 8 nights at GF!! Yipee!!!! AAA discount is 296/night before tax July 9-17th. Not much of a discount but a discount is a discount. I was going for AP but I don't think we are going back next year...gasp!!

I made my change also. June 29&30 Nick Hotel. July 1-13 GF, July 13-16 AKL. I hope this is the last time! Doesn't it make you nuts going back and forth in your mind about resorts. If you are getting a GV room at GF I would suggest you ask for Sago Cay marina view, it's almost like getting a lagoon view at a gv price, plus it's really close to Gasparilla's for snacks and watching fireworks.

Wish I could afford that. I had originally booked POR for 8 nights at the Rack Rate. Decide to do a split stay and changed my reservation to 4 nights POR and 3 nights GF. At that time, I was booked on ATA, so my air travel had saved me a bundle. Well guess what? ATA decide it was not going to fly direct from Chicago to Orlando. I had to rebook on United and it cost me an additional $225. Ouch! After reading the DIS boards, I realized that I never requested a AAA discount when I booked my resort. So I called back and made the request. I got the discount for POR, but none was available for GF, so I changed To the Beach Club. I saved $400. So I am up about $175. So I guess we are all looking for ways to save money. If I had originally booked a package, I could not have made any of these changes. I always book "room only reservations". My dream is to stay at the Grand Floridian. I almost made it this trip. Perhaps next time I can swing it, if I ask the right questions. I was wondering if I might be able to get a room cheaper at GF if I had an AP? Or should I just stick with the AAA discount. I am sure you are excited about your up and coming stay at GF, I know I would be.

Disneymom...thanks for the advice. I put in a request for Big Pine Key because I thought that looked closer to things. I will call back and request Sago Cay Marina view. We'll be there the same time for a few days. I'll be the one frantically chasing my girls down at the pool! ha!

Barbarann...when are you going? I didn't have any trouble getting AAA rate at GF for my timeframe. It was the ASMO that didn't have any for me. If it weren't for splitting the cost with my mother then we wouldn't be able to stay there either.

How old are your girls? My dds are 7 and 6 and ds will be turning 5 this trip. You won't be able to miss us. I really think you'll love Sago Cay- we always did. This is the first time we're getting a lagoon view and we still requested Sago Cay.

My girls are 3 and 4. Their daddy is asian so I'm always asked if they are adopted twins...ha! ( they look nothing like me). I am worried that they won't like the atmosphere of the GF but I don't think they will care as long as there is a body of water to swim in a beach to play on and easy access to MK. They think that Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland live there. :rotfl:

Congrats! I love GF. I can't wait to stay there again. We'll see if I get lucky with a rate this summer, then maybe I can split my August stay.......

Don't worry. The first time we stayed there my kids were 2, 4 and 5 and they loved it. We've been going back ever since. It's so nice going to MK and being the first stop on the monorail, and on the way back take the ferry so you'll be the first stop on the way back. Make a PS for CInderellas Gala Feast at 1900 Park Fare - you kids will love it. Try the 1900 Park Fare Breakfast if you get a chance - Mary Poppins and Alice were both there when we went last year.

My trip is 79 days away. When I called for the AAA rate for the GF, they said that none were available at the time. The lady that I talked to, said that I could call back and check, because someone might cancel. I decided to check the availability at the Beach Club instead. My grandson is 12 years old and I thought he would like the Beach Club better anyway. He loves swimming and he loves Epcot. Besides the Beach Club is less expensive also. I was a little disappointed with the switch, but I am now very excited at staying at the Beach Club. It will be a surprise for my grandson, when we pack up after 4 days at POR, and spend 3 days at BC. Glad to hear that others have realized their dreams of staying at GF. I will get there, I am sure, in the future. We plan on going to WDW annually. I want to try as many different resorts as I can. I tease my grandson. I tell him that I am going to Disney every year, if he has to push me around in a wheelchair, or I will rent a scooter. I am approaching 60, and I know that is not old, by today's standards, but hey, you never know. The body doesn't move as fast as it used to.
