We Couldn't Stay Away...A January/February 2012 PTR--TR LINK UP 2/8

Hey, all caught up..so happy for you guys that your friends are coming along! Should be a blast!! Great job with the discount on POP!! We love that resort...great memories with our family there.
You are making me hungry with those pics...I can almost taste the nachos...YUMMY!!!!!! And ooooh, how I love me some Grand Marnier Slushie!!!

It's been a really long week, hasn't it? I'm so glad tomorrow is Friday, I can't wait to sleep in on Saturday!

Fun update, I love that there are so many different places to eat in Epcot! I LOVE La Cava del Tequila, those margaritas are the best! :lovestruc LOL, that's so funny that you like sauerkraut so much, I've never even tried it!

I think my favorite CS place in Epcot is the fish and chips place in UK, it's SO good, and I love the fries! :thumbsup2

Last week was a long one but this week should be better. I work Saturdays so I don't get to sleep in...but Sundays I sure do :thumbsup2

Oh man, La Cava del Tequila is a small slice of heaven! And you need to try sauerkraut lol I'm obsessed!

Ya know, we've never eaten at the fish and chips place and I do loveeeee fish and chips...lol

Oh how I love a Grey Goose slushie! And did you know you can ask for it in a "regular" cup? That way there's less spillage!

Yummmm and I actually did know that! It's considered a double I think though? That's what I had heard and I had a problem spending $18 on one drink

Yum, La Cava is the best! I feel like time passes by much slower in there than any other place in WDW haha.
Sunshine Seasons is definitely my favorite CS in Epcot, too! Love the Asian station-- those noodles are the best!
I also really loved La Cantina this past trip-- everything was very fresh. We had the free DDP, though-- not sure I would pay $15 for three tacos if I was paying OOP! It was GOOD, just pricey!

I love La Cava and SS! I usually get the sandwiches at SS but I think I might have to go for the chicken or the Asian station next time.

Oh we haven't eaten at La Cantina since it was redone so I'm excited for that! I wouldn't pay $15 either lol Sounds so yummy though!

Sunshine Seasons is our favorite Epcot counter service, too. There is plenty to choose from for different tastes. The rotisserie chicken was my favorite things to eat for a while, but then I discovered the cashew chicken. They changed the noodles on the cashew chicken, at least for the meal I had in October, and what a disappointment! They went from the good Asian noodles to something that looked like a very cheap brand of spaghetti noodle with zero flavor. I'll be going back the rotisserie chicken next time.

We usually find a place to eat over by Living with the Land - out of the main open eating areas and where it is a little darker and less chaotic. The center area can be really, really crowded.

Oh man, that's so stinky that they changed the Asian noodles! I think I might go for the chicken next time we're there, everyone seems to love it! I think last year Chris and I grabbed a seat over by Living with the Land and we got there early, around 11:30. It was much less crowded then!

I'm so happy they're coming and that we're staying at Pop again!!

I loveeee those slushies, I can't wait to have one again!

Yay for Friday off! I usually work that day, but I'm lucky to have it off! Sleeping in! :cloud9:

Oh gosh, I love Sunshine Seasons. I love the variety they have there. I can get my sushi and Fiance can get what he wants- then we're both happy. Oh gosh, the strawberry shortcake looks yummy right now.

We HAVE to play the Around the World game next trip we go together!!

That pic of the slushie will always make me laugh. I'll never forget when I sent you a pic of ours on our Spring Break trip and you thought my straw was something else! :rotfl:

It was great to sleep in this morning, wasn't it?! Chris and I went and got breakfast at the diner when we woke up...yummm!

SS is soooo good! I wonder if they will make me sushi with soy paper or without seaweed lol I'm dying for it, it's been a while since I've had it!

We are DEF playing the Around the World game in 2013...unless someone has a bun in the oven :rolleyes1

:rotfl: oh I'm so dumb sometimes :rotfl:

Yay for a day off today!

Those counter service meals look delicious. I really want to try Tangierene, in Morocco. I've never been able to really enjoy sauerkraut since my mother insisted on us eating it every New Year's Eve (Pennsylvania Dutch thing, and it is the best form of pork'n'sauerkraut but still. Not my favorite! Especially compared to the yummy food all my friends got to eat). I do wish Sommerfest had a bigger menu. There's so many other great German foods to try!

THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAYYYYY  :woohoo:

I say that even though I have to work 9-2:30 tomorrow lol After work we have no plans though, and I'm so excited to get to just relax! This week was busy and today was super busy...Chris and I were both off so we went to breakfast when we woke up and then to Bed, Bath and Beyond to register for the wedding! It took over 2 hours and we're not even done  Actually, we went to Target first but for whatever reason their Registry thing was down...so we went to BBB and we'll go back to Target another day.

Ready for another CS food update?!

Just one small detail to add before I go on to our favorite CS food/snacks at Disney' Hollywood Studios...Sam booked their flights down to Orlando on Wednesday! They'll be flying SWA with us! The flights coming home are really expensive right now (not sure why!) so they're holding off a little longer for those! We were out with them last night and they both are so excited! I'm just getting a little nervous that Joe isn't going to be up for a 4 day crash course in WDW and is just going to want to sit in their hotel room or sit at the pool the whole time...oh well, not going to worry about it!!

Now on to DHS food!!

We don't really care for the ABC Commissary or the Backlot Express and we always seem to eat at 50's PTC...so it's rare we actually eat CS at DHS! But this time I'm sure we'll end up here...

pizzaplanet.jpg

And we'll chow down on some of this...
pppizza.jpg

DISNEY PIZZAAAAA!! We are born and raised NYers so we've had some amazing pizza over the years...but Disney pizza is still delicious to us! Of course it's not gourmet but we still love it! Plus, you can't beat the Toy Story atmosphere in that restaurant :thumbsup2

One stop we have now made it mandatory to make in DHS is Starring Rolls. Even though it's always a mad house with no seating, we don't care! We either wait and stalk out a table or we go over to the benches (near the garbage so not always ideal) and eat there! Here is my MUST EAT item...

butterfingercupcake.jpg

Oh. My. Gosh. This is pure delicious heaven. It's completely impossible for one normal sized human being to even consume this much food at one time because it is so dense and so sweet but I do the best I can. If you've never eaten one of these, you need to hop on a plane or in your car immediately and get to DHS and break into Starring Rolls (since it's closed by this time of night) and get one. NOW.

Moving on...:rolleyes1

My last tasty treat from DHS is one I've, and I say this with a heavy heart, never tried. TRAVESTY. Anyway, I will in 82 (or so) days!!! Check out this little beauty...

carrotcakecookie.jpg

The carrot cake cookie! Just typing those words make my mouth water!! Yummmm-ooooo!!

So, am I missing anything? Did I hit all the most important edible treats in DHS? Let me know! :goodvibes Have a nice weekend everyone :)

Oh how I love Pizza Planet. And those cupcakes are SO good! You are right about no normal person being able to eat it all alone.

As for other DHS tasty treats, my sister thinks the chocolate mousse at ABC Commissary is pretty good...:rolleyes1

If Chris is a good boy and eats his lunch at Toy Story Pizza Planet, he will get to play some arcade games, right? :)

I'm with you on the Butterfinger cupcake - more than a person can consume in one sitting, but oh, so delicious.

As for the very, very popular carrot cake cookie, it is good, but there is too much icing for me. I have to scrape some off before I eat it. My top choice at Writer's Stop is the white chocolate macadamia nut cookie.

I am glad you got a day to sleep in. Those are always nice. Even though I still get up early on Saturdays, it is nice to just lounge around and not have to immediately start getting ready to get out the door - especially on a rather chilly morning, as this one is. It's nice to be under a warm blanket getting to have some DIS time. Have a good weekend!

Target and BBB are definitely my choices to register for my future wedding...I love both those stores and could do a LOT of damage in both of them if I really tried

I am dying to get to Starring Rolls...that cupcake looks AMAZING! All the cupcakes I've seen from there look amazing...I am sure I can convince someone to share one with me. :rolleyes1

I love Pizza Planet SO MUCH. It's not even good food, but who can turn down Pizza Planet? We have a similar plan for our next trip - one person gets Starring Rolls + cupcake, the other gets Pizza Planet, try to hold down a table at one of them.

Is doing a registry as fun as it looks with those fancy gun/scanner things??

Hmmm I haven't eaten breakfast yet today and I would love to be eating a cupcake right now!

Hmmm, ABC Commissary huh? :rolleyes1 I'll have to check that out!

:rotfl: you know me well, MeMom! Although I never have problems getting Chris to eat all his lunch lol The cupcakes are so dense and tasty, I always wish I could eat the entire things alone!

Hmmm, I'm not a fan of a TON of icing so I'll probably be scraping some off as well.

Sleeping in is just necessary sometimes or at least just being able to relax. You're totally right, I get more excited about not having to get up and get going immediately and just being able to hangout under the covers with the TV and the DISboards :)

Of course when we went, Target's registry system was broken lol so we didn't go there yet but BBB was fun! It took forever though!!

You NEEEEEED to try a cupcake from SR...there are a ton to choose from and they do all look delicious!

You are spot on about Pizza Planet lol That's a smart idea for getting a table...I'm hoping we'll luck out this trip because of the low crowds!

Registering was fun! It was just reeeeealllyyyyy time consuming...we were there for over 2 hours in BBB and we didn't finish!!

Yummm-- PP is the only CS we go to in DHS! Love it! We have never made it to Starring Rolls but LOVE Writer's Stop! I tried the carrot cake cookie for the first time this past trip and loved it-- could only eat about half though! It was so rich!

OMG!! I'm so hungry now and I just ate dinner!! :lmao: I have to try something from Starring Rolls..never have before..I know crazy right!:confused3

We love PP, too! We went to the Backlot Express in June and didn't really like it so back to PP it is :) Girl, you need to get to Starring Rolls!! That cupcake is on the Crumbs level. I can't wait to try the carrot cake cookie!

:rotfl: looking at Disney food does that to me, too! You need to get to Starring Rolls next time you're in WDW, you won't regret it!!

I always suggest going to Pizza Planet, but my DH never wants to! UGHHH!!

I finally discovered Writer's Stop on this past trip, AND Starring Roles, love them both! I also love the Turkey Leg stand, but I know those aren't for everyone!

Seems like people either love those things or are disgusted by them.

Caveman eating, I have heard it called.

I personally am on the 'I love 'em!' side. To me, they smell so good and are so moist and delicious. :thumbsup2

We go to PP because we really don't like the other CS places! DHS definitely has the worst CS selection!

Just thinking about SR makes my mouth water...I can't wait to try the Writer's Stop! Honestly, I'd try a turkey leg. Maybe this trip! They look so juicy haha

Ok, so I definitely want to try a turkey leg now. Maybe we'll get a pizza and a turkey leg and share them :thumbsup2

:mickeyjum HAPPY THANSKGIVING EVERYONE!! :mickeyjum

I have so much to be thankful for, today and everyday. Today makes me realize I need to give thanks more for all that I have! I want all my DIS friends to know how thankful I am for all of you. The friendships I've formed over the last 3 years on this board were definitely unexpected but definitely needed and cherished! I hope you all enjoy this day with your family and friends :grouphug:

joining in...I've been MIA from the disboards from a while but just jumped back on and saw you've got a trip in the works (I totally missed your summer trip).

I've got to catch up but I wanted to sub in now to catch the rest!

Well hello everyone! It has been a while and I’m sorry for that! You all know how it is, life getting in the way. On the bright side, I only have 2 weeks left of school/student teaching and I’m done! Done for a very long time! I am overjoyed although I will miss my students. Aside from the fact that they’ve probably given me gray hairs prematurely, I am attached to them and it will be sad when it’s my last day with them. Also I’ve been Christmas shopping! My parents and Chris’ parents were easy this year as all they both wanted were Rangers tickets lol I’m having troubles picking for my brother and Chris’ brother! Of course we went nuts on the disneystore.com for his niece and nephew! My mom collects Disney snowglobes (she probably has about 40 of them by now!) and my dad gets her new ones every Christmas. Here are the ones he picked for her this year…

So cute!!

This week my parents will go to pick out a Christmas tree and I’ll help decorate it later in the week. Unfortunately my brother is “too cool” to help decorate anymore so it ends up just being my mom and I since my dad will only help if it’s all 4 of us doing it lol Lastly, even though this isn’t my Disneymoon PTR, I want to add that our honeymoon is officially booked! Our DVC owning friends booked it this week for us so it’s feeling VERY real now!

Anyway, this trip is only 57 days away! Let me finish up on what we’re going to be eating so I can start getting into some park plans!!

Last but not least we have Animal Kingdom!!

AnimalKingdomEntrance.jpg

Chris and I loveeeee to eat breakfast at Tusker House but as you all know, this is our budget trip so it is not to be this trip. However, there are some CS places I’m definitely not upset to have to eat at!

First we have our old fall back, Pizzafari!

Pizzafari.jpg

Chris usually gets this
pizzafaripizza.jpg

Or the meatball sub…I will either get the pizza like Chris or one of these…
caesarsalad.jpg

The chicken Caesar salad, which I always find to be a big portion and very tasty!

We’ve only eaten at this TS so far but we may get some food from the CS part of the restaurant on this trip, to mix it up a bit…

yakandyeti.jpg

Yak and Yeti! I’ve always wanted to eat there but our last few trips have been in the summer…eating outside never sounds too appealing when it’s 90+ degrees outside! This trip should give us some more tolerable temperatures so I’m thinking we may have to try eating here!

I know a lot of people love Flame Tree BBQ but we haven’t ever eaten there and most likely never will. I’m afraid of birds…VERY afraid of birds. EXTREMELY afraid of birds, especially those big huge white ones with the long orange legs (daddy long legs birds as tinkgurl’s Little Guy likes to call them). I’ve heard MANY stories of the birds being crazy and abundant over at Flame Tree, plus I’m not a huge BBQ fan so I’ve never felt the need to torture myself to eat there! Haha

Then we have a must-do for me at AK…it’s not technically a food place but…

dawabar.jpg

The Dawa Bar is a favorite of mine! I loveeee relaxing with a Lost on Safari while people watching over here. Once, while I was enjoying my drink, the African dancers started up! They pulled Chris up to dance with them and when I started laughing at him, they pulled me up too! It was hilarious and a great time. When we were in WDW with tinkgurl and her family, me, her, Chris and tink’s fiancé were having some drinks there. They didn’t have Bud Light Lime which is what I wanted to drink so they gave me a Bud Light and added some lime juice to it…so delicious!

Well, that’s all for now. I hope everyone is enjoying the start to their holiday season. How is your shopping coming along? Are you all jonesing to be in WDW for the holidays like I am?!
