We Couldn't Stay Away...A January/February 2012 PTR--TR LINK UP 2/8

Love your NYC pictures!! Yeah, it was crazy but nothing beats Christmas in NYC!
Your plans sound great-- nice mix of everyone hanging out and each couple getting their alone time! I think a touring plan is smart-- hopefully the low crowds mean you'll be able to fit everything in at a semi-relaxed pace!

Hope you had a great Christmas! I get kind of depressed once it's over, I love the Christmas season, and then it's over, just like that! I am still listening to Christmas music on Pandora, I'm just not ready to give it up yet!

Looks like you had a lot of fun in New York! I used to go every year for Christmas, but it's just so crowded, I can't deal with it anymore. I kind of miss going, though, we haven't been in maybe 3 years. :confused3

Your plans for each day sound great! I have never used an actual touring plan, but I think it sounds like a good idea so you can maximize your time there! :thumbsup2

Thanks! You're right, I'd never give up going to NYC at Christmas time...but I may reconsider trying to get RIGHT UP CLOSE to the tree 8 days before Christmas

I'm big on making sure each couple gets their time alone. I've been on vacation with other couples before and I don't want us to want to kill each other by the end of the trip! I'm hoping that low crowds and the touring plan will make this a laid back trip, while getting a lot done at the same time!

Hope you had a great Christmas! I get kind of depressed once it's over, I love the Christmas season, and then it's over, just like that! I am still listening to Christmas music on Pandora, I'm just not ready to give it up yet!

Thank Jen, I did and I hope you did, too! I do get depressed once it's over too, which is while I'm so happy we have a trip a month away...gives us something to look forward to and get us through the cold winter months.

You have to get back to NYC for Christmas! You're close enough girl, no excuses haha It is really crowded, you just hafta be on a mission and push through people

Thanks! I'd never use a touring plan if just Chris and I were going but to make it the best for our friends, I'm hoping it's a good idea!

I love the NYC Christmas pictures! I'm so disappointed I didn't get a chance to go to Boston for any of the festivities, but my boyfriend HATES crowds even more than I do...so it wouldn't really have been a festive, fun time

You guys are getting so close!!! We're leaving in six days and it's really starting to sink in. I'm going to be posting as many pictures as possible on Facebook and it feels unreal that I will be the one sending and posting pictures, instead of being on the receiving end. You'll be doing that before you know it, too!

Christmas in New York sounds great! Part of the fun is being packed in with so many people (I guess? I'm not really a huge crowds person so no NYC Christmas or New Year's for me). Congrats on your masters! Do you know where you want to work and everything? I'm starting to wind down on mine and can't decide between continuing on or getting a job. I guess it's a little easier to decide with education compared to science (? It seemed that the only people with PhDs in my school system were administrators so it didn't seem like a popular path).

Your plans sound really good. So jealous of the Kona Cafe reservation, that bread is heavenly. I miss it so much! I've never used touring plans before, we're learning that we like your usual go-with-the-flow style better. It worked for us to just check line times on an iPhone every now and then and just sort of work our way around each park. Probably not the most efficient way to do things but we saw a lot! Plus I'd get really caught up with doing things exactly like the plan says, which.. wouldn't be a good thing! ;)

Better late than never right??

I'm so excited and jelly you get to go SO SOON! Lucky girl!! Be sure to send me lots of pictures. I'm having really bad Disney withdrawals. It's not good.

Aw Tonga Toast at Captain Cook's. That was the very last place I saw you! :sad1: I miss you guys!!

Il Mulino will be delicious...I had it in Aspen and LOVED it. Did I ever tell you that? Or just that I was going there? I know other things came up immediately after the trip, but I seriously loved that place so much! I'm sure you will too! :goodvibes

Just over a week till you leave!!! Hope you are having a good time and packing!!

Looks like we will be at AK, Epcot and MK on the same days! the 1st we will be at Universal, then Ohanas for supper at 9:30.... Not sure what will be happening on the 4th our flight leaves at 6:30pm so gives us a good portion of the day.

Congratulations on getting Chris's ring. I think I saw that on FB. I am looking forward to seeing warm, sunny Disney pictures soon! :cool1: It hasn't been a bad January for us, I am happy to say, but I will still take good old Disney pictures no matter what things are like at home. :thumbsup2

Can you believe I've never been to Boston? It's on my list but for one reason or another we've never gotten there! Speaking of your boyfriend...will you ever drag him to WDW?!?

I've obviously been a little MIA from the boards but I did join into your TR and will catch up ASAP. I hope you had a great time. We leave in a week now!!

You're right, part of the fun is being with so many people...this was overkill though! lol Thank you! I know what districts I want to substitute in...but I haven't applied yet! I'd say get into subbing before continuing school. That's what I plan on doing. We're moving shortly after we get married so I'm not even bothering to look for a permanent position...it would be useless anyway because there are none in NY!

We won't be eating at Kona but I hope our friends like it! Chris and I normally are the go with the flow people! I hope I can adjust to something more rigid!

I miss you!!

Love you girl!!

Hello my love!!! Ahhhhh I leave in a week! I'm having Kimmy withdrawals without our daily emails. That means I need to text you asap. And I will lol

OMG I just got so sad, Captain Cooks will forever remind me of having breakfast that morning. I miss you so much!

I remember you having Il Mulino in Aspen! I hope it's as good in DIsney.

A week now!! I hope we run into each other!!

Thanks, MeMom! You will definitely get picture texts from me throughout the time we're there. Disney pictures are good any day, time or place :thumbsup2

 ONE WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't even believe we're going to be back in our happy place in just a week. It truly hasn't sunken in yet. I know I've been pretty MIA from this report and I apologize for that! I thought with school being over things would calm down but I've actually been just as busy, just with other things. I think I mentioned this but I joined a new gym and have been going religiously. Plus, I'm still working at the bank but I'm there everyday now! It's good for the money but I go from there to the gym and when I get home I shower and pass out!

Anyway, I'm so excited to almost be leaving. We're going to grab dinner in a few with Sam and Joe so I'm sure there'll be some Disney talk. Sam and I email each other everyday at work and we're always talking about it too! Friday night the 4 of us are going to Target to grab some snacks, breakfast foods and all for the hotel rooms. I am the biggest packing procrastinator so I will pack Monday I'm sure! Chris will probably pack Sunday. He's unfortunately been out of work for almost 2 1/2 weeks (and will be until at least February 10th) with overstretched, bruised tendons in his foot. When you see our TR, you will see him with his big walking boot on. He did it playing football with friends and then made it worse when he played hockey on it. The only reason I'm not freaking out about this is because he still (THANK GOD) gets full pay at work for 8 weeks. So yea, he has plenty of time on his hands to pack!

Sam and I check ourselves in on Saturday with the online check in system. I think I did that for our June trip to OKW...I can't remember! It should work out well for us though! I have my fridge swap all set too. In honor of our one week mark, I'm going to go through some of the things we're most excited to do back in our favorite place on Earth.

**Stay at Pop Century again
Pop-Century-Resort.jpg

We stayed at Pop in July 2010 and really loved it there! The colors, the big icons, just the whole atmosphere is great there. We've stayed deluxe 2 times now but going back to Pop doesn't make us upset in the least. We love it there!!

**Ride Expedition Everest
EEverest.jpg

For whatever reason we only made it to AK once during our last trip in June 2011. EE is mine and Chris' favorite ride in WDW so we're REALLY looking forward to finally getting another run in with the Yeti! In December 2009 we rode it 5 times in a row one night and we're hoping the low crowds will let us do something like that again!

**Ride Rockin' Rollercoaster
rock-n-rollercoaster-entrance.jpg

Definitely in our Top 5 favorite rides in WDW. I love jamming out to Aerosmith while flying through the darkness. When this ride is over I'm smiling from ear to ear and I can't stop. My eyes tear from the ride going so fast!! Seriously, what an adrenaline rush!

**Eating at 'Ohana again
OHANA_1_.jpg

Last time we ate here (June 2011) was with Kimmy (princess_momma) and her son Landon, as well as Lauren (lauren_elizabeth) and her kids Jake and Mallory. GREAT MEMORIES! The food here is just out of this world (and World) and may be our top restaurant that we've tried in WDW. I'm so excited to surprise Chris with eating here again. He has no idea!!

**Slowly walking through the World Showcase in Epcot
epcot-world-showcase.jpg

The WS is one of my favorite places in WDW. Chris loves trying all new beers and I love wandering through all the shops. It's truly amazing the authenticity and detail orientation that goes into these pavilions. The one we always look forward to the most is...

germany.jpg

Germany! We're pretty upset that we don't get to have our ritual dinner at Biergarten this trip so we'll have to make up for it with beers and brats from Sommerfest!

**Getting to see the greatest sight in the world (World) again...THE Castle
Cinderellas-Castle.jpg

There really are no words to describe the feeling I get when I see this castle in person...euphoria? That may be the closest description I can put into words. DISers know the feeling...you're there, in your happy place, with your loved ones...there is no better feeling.

**Seeing Mickey's Philharmagic again
philharmagic.jpg

Specifically the Be Our Guest scene. Chris and I saw Beauty and the Beast in 3D over the weekend and during the Be Our Guest scene we were yearning to smell cherry pie! This show really makes me cry every time. I love watching the kids in the audience reach out for Ariel's jewels. This attraction is pure genius.

**Watching Wishes
wishesmk.jpg

We planned poorly during our last trip and didn't get to see Wishes very well. We ran in from dinner at one of the monorail resorts (I can't remember where) and caught it from Town Square with thousands of heads in our way. Our trip before that was during the Summer Nightastic fireworks...so needless to say, I'm in dire need of a dose of Wishes!! Perfect ending to a perfect Disney day.

Alright everyone, I'll be back again before we leave. If you're my friend on Facebook, I'll be posting pictures the whole trip. If you're lucky, I'll even be texting you pictures ;) Ta-ta for now!

Hey, an update! :rotfl:

Wow I can't believe you're going next week! I wish I was going soon, I am having some serious Disney depression right now. So much that I'm considering a solo trip in May or June. Crazy!

I can't believe Chris hurt his foot right before the trip, that's just like what happened with Brandon! He was supposed to wear one of those huge boots in Disney, but he didn't bother, and it turns out, that was a good thing, since they originally thought it was just a bruised bone or a muscle or tendon issue, and it turned out to be a broken bone! Hope he feels better for the trip! :thumbsup2

Love your list, I get excited about all of those things too! EE is one of my favorites, I love WS, and of course, seeing the castle and Wishes! :cool1:

I'm late to the party, but I figured since I'm also leaving on the 31st for a quickie trip (though shorter than yours) AND staying at Pop, I had to join!

How exciting to be going with friends, that will be awesome! I went in colllege with one of my best friends, and it was so much fun. This time I am spending my Epcot day with my friend and her husband so it's going to be a whole new experience! I can't believe it's less than a week away!

I'm going to head over to your Disneymoon PJ now!

:cool1: Doing the 1 week happy dance for you! :dance3: So exciting! I really like a lot of the things you are most excited about, like POP, Wishes, Phillarmagic and of course seeing the castle. I totally understand what feeling you are talking about. :cloud9:

:yay: for one week!!! I am at 99 days today
All of your plans sound perfect :goodvibes Although I am bummed you won't be eating at Biergarten....I have lived vicariously through your last few dinners there as I haven't been in at least three trips
Hope that Chris will be able to make it around okay with das boot....seriously we saw so many of them in October I think my niece started counting

Tracy

So exciting that you leave so soon! I know what you mean about seeing cinderella castle. I also love philharmagic and wishes! Can i request you on fb so i can see the pics you post? It would make my day better to log on and see them in my newsfeed :goodvibes

Ahhh, so jealous!! Have a wonderful time! Obviously, I know exactly what you're talking about when you see the castle!
I'd LOVE to see Mickey's Philharmagic right now-- I thought thr same thing during Be Our Guest when Zach and I went to go see BATB in 3D-- I didn't want to be in a crappy NY movie theater, I wanted to be in WDW!!

TODAY'S THE DAY, TODAY'S THE DAY!!! :yay:

I'm leaving my house in less than an hour! Our friends are stopping and grabbing some bagels on their way to pick us up since our airport's food selection is HORRIBLE. By 7:00, our plane will be on it's way!

I tried to get on here last night but for some reason my laptop spent 15 mins just loading the page without much progress. Eventually, I gave up and hoped I'd be able to get on this morning to say "See ya real soon!" to all my DIS buddies. Thanks for coming along with me on the journey of planning this trip and I hope to see you all on my TR when we get back!! :thumbsup2

I thought about you a few minutes ago. I wondered if you were up yet and all excited about this big day. I guess I found my answer.
Have a fabulous time! :woohoo: :cheer2: :cool1:
