HOMEOWNERS!!!!!

Today my husband and I closed on our first home.

We found it our first day out looking (the second house). Anything we looked at afterwards did not compare. We did a second day of looking, as well, but I knew this was the one. The only catach, it was a short sale. Arrrggghhhh. However, from what I have read, we got ours to move pretty quickly.

We made an offer for $10,000 less than asking price (which had already been lowered by $10,000). The offer was accepted (we already had financing), and then it was sit back and wait. That was at the beginning of April.

Our closing date was set for May 17th, but it didn't happen. Still waiting on a form from the seller's bank, plus the seller's agent was a part-time agent who was very difficult to get in touch with.

Then our closng was planned for the 24th, but a lien was discovered on the home. Arrrgggh. So we rescheduled again, and held out hope that when we came back from our Disney trip (last week) that we would close today.

Disney is very good about cancellign all thoughts about the outside world. I never thought once about the house while at Disney. Then when we came back home, it was all that consumed my mind.

Anyway, today we signed the papers and got the keys. We spent today cleaning the kitchen. Great house, just looks as though the owners had not cleaned in ages.......

Now to find painters and schedule my carpet measure. The subdivison is still under devlopment too (still building new homes), most houses sell for $30,000 more than what we paid. Everyone at the closing remarked on what a great deal we got.

I'm so happy for you! It sounds like you had some trouble closing but I'm excited for you!

Yeah. Our closing was set for 11 a.m. and all morning, I kept my cell phone close, expecting that "I'm sorry, but we can't close today.." call.

I also expected that the seller wouldn't be there, but we could close and when they gave us the keys and my husband and I would drive over to the house, only to discover they wouldn't work....LOL! I seriously, was not jumping for joy until those keys were in our hands.

Through the delays, my husband would get mad at me.....trust me I knew what our agent was doing. I could tell ya her schedule off the top of my head. She gets my vote for Realtor of the Year :)

We are going out of town for the weekend, but Monday she is getting a thank you gift that I bought at Disney (didn't bring it today, becasue I was expecting yet another delay....)

I understand what you went through... all the emotions every time you got bad news... we went through the same emotions caused by delays, etc., when we adopted our kids. It's frustrating to have something you want so much be in the control of others.

But, the great news is that you will finally be able to move into your home! And we got our kids 9 years ago. Everything worked out for both of us.

You will look back at this time, not with bitterness of delays, but of the journey it took for you to get into your house.

Congratulations!

Congrattttts! On your new home!!!! Hope it brings you with lots of happy memories!!
