HOMEOWNERS!!!!!
Today my husband and I closed on our first home.
We found it our first day out looking (the second house). Anything we looked at afterwards did not compare. We did a second day of looking, as well, but I knew this was the one. The only catach, it was a short sale. Arrrggghhhh. However, from what I have read, we got ours to move pretty quickly.
We made an offer for $10,000 less than asking price (which had already been lowered by $10,000). The offer was accepted (we already had financing), and then it was sit back and wait. That was at the beginning of April.
Our closing date was set for May 17th, but it didn't happen. Still waiting on a form from the seller's bank, plus the seller's agent was a part-time agent who was very difficult to get in touch with.
Then our closng was planned for the 24th, but a lien was discovered on the home. Arrrgggh. So we rescheduled again, and held out hope that when we came back from our Disney trip (last week) that we would close today.
Disney is very good about cancellign all thoughts about the outside world. I never thought once about the house while at Disney. Then when we came back home, it was all that consumed my mind.
Anyway, today we signed the papers and got the keys. We spent today cleaning the kitchen. Great house, just looks as though the owners had not cleaned in ages.......
Now to find painters and schedule my carpet measure. The subdivison is still under devlopment too (still building new homes), most houses sell for $30,000 more than what we paid. Everyone at the closing remarked on what a great deal we got.
