wdwgirl and Dad do Disney:an April '10 PTR...TR LINK ADDED!! p. 56

Happy Friday!

So my sister just reminded me (well, she didn't really need to remind me, haha) that last year at this time we were just about ready to go to Disney World. :sad1: We're both kind of bummed thinking about it. We had so much fun staying at the Beach Club Villas and getting to go to our first Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. I'm also getting jealous because so many people on here are either in WDW now or going soon. :snooty: In honor of the holidays coming up I thought I'd share some pictures (maybe a couple a day??) from that trip...gotta keep this PTR interesting, haha! Enjoy!

Beach Club decorations!!!

Nice pics. The Beach Club always looks so nice at Christmas.

Those pictures make me wish I could go to WDW at Christmastime. Originally, that had been my family's plan, but my mom hates really big crowds; and then, my best friend had agreed to go with me in 2010 but it works out better for us if we go in October instead. Oh well--someday! The Beach Club looks beautiful though. Which resort has your favorite decorations at Christmastime?

Yes it does. :)

It is totally worth going for the holidays atleast once. If you can go before Christmas, that's an awesome time because all the decorations are up and the crowds aren't bad at all...that's what we did last year. But yeah, we've also been AFTER Christmas and sometimes the crowds can be insane. We were at Epcot on NYE in '07 and some of the waits were over 200 min. :scared1:

As for which resort is my favorite, it's really hard to say. All of them have really cool decorations! I think last year we were able to get to almost all of the deluxe resorts. :thumbsup2

Sarah,
thanks for posting the link to youtube on MU, they did well in the tournament, too bad they didn't win. I have to be honest, I didn't watch the games, but they were on in the house so I was kept informed of the results. Your trip back to WDW will come quickly, brrrrrrrrrr it's cold here, so I'm sure you are looking forward to heading back to FL.
Did you go to the clubhouse sale, there are some good bargains for Brewer fans.

You're welcome! They did do surprisingly well which kind of made me even more mad we weren't able to go. If only it weren't over Thanksgiving we definitely would have been there.

I didn't go to the clubhouse sale but I heard that was going on. We went to the sale a couple years ago and found some stuff for $1...perfect for our trip to Arizona for spring training!

Thanks for the BC pics from Christmas. We'll get down there at one time to see the decorations, but it will probably be a while before that happens. I get a little DIsney Depression when I pass the travel dates from the previous year or the dates of a cancelled trip. I think at this time I was/would be doing this.

The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World!!! I've read in other people's TRs that it's a pretty good book so I finally caved and bought one. One of the things we are hoping to do on this trip is try to look for some of those hidden secrets in the parks. I've only flipped through it a little bit so far but it seems really interesting! One of the most interesting things I've read so far is that the only real flag on Main Street is the one in that center plaza (near the Roy and Minnie statue) where they do the flag retreat. It said that all the other ones, like on the buildings, aren't considered real so they don't have to take them down each night per US Custom (so they might be missing a star or stripe). Crazy, huh?! Can't wait to read more. popcorn::

I absolutely LOVE Hidden Magic! When my brother asked what I wanted for my birthday, I said that book and Chicken Soup for the Teacher's Soul. I've read both of them twice through already! The second time I read Hidden Magic, I started mentally compiling a list of things that I wanted to look for. Then the list got too long! I think I'm going to have to write them down and keep it limited. I should look for only a few since there should be many trips in the future to find them all!

As for your top 10 Disney movies list ... I like how you divided it up into categories. My favorite Disney channel movie now would probably be HSM3. Hehe, I think it was the best out of the 3. I didn't like HSM2 at all.

I'm also getting jealous because so many people on here are either in WDW now or going soon. :snooty:

My colleague is going on Christmas Day! And they got reservations for CRT for New Year's Day! That means the first meal that she and her husband and their little girl (she's in 3rd grade) get to eat in 2010 is in Cinderella's Castle! Haha, it makes my countdown seem sad. But it does make me feel better that because their trip is sooner, their trip is also almost over. I'll have something to keep me going until April.

I love having another Disney fanatic at work! She's actually the administrative assistant so yesterday before I went back upstairs for parent teacher conferences after eating lunch, she told me to stop by her computer. She had the Thomas Kinkade painting as her desktop since she just bought the smaller version (http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/gallerydirectart_2082_288071049). She was pointing out all the other little characters within that Cinderella scene! I wish I could've stayed there to talk to her about Disney instead of back to my room to talk to parents!

No problem. Hopefully you don't have to wait too long to go during the holidays. It's one of the best times to go. :goodvibes

haha, I have Chicken Soup for the Teacher's Soul too. :teeth: I finished reading the MK section of Hidden Magic...some of the stuff is so fascinating. I am thinking about highlighting or making a list of stuff to look for on our trip!

I'd think I have to agree with you, HSM3 was the best. I liked them all but HSM2 was my least favorite. My favorite part of HSM3 is the ending at their graduation and they all hold hands and start skipping away. LOL! :rotfl: Oh yeah, and the scene in the junkyard...:rolleyes1

Going on Christmas Day?! That's cool...wonder what the crowds will be like then. What a great start to the year too. :thumbsup2 We've been there over New Year's and I have to admit it's a lot of fun saying you were in Disney World for the new year.

That's awesome you have another Disney fanatic at work! I love talking Disney with other people.

Oh yes, that picture is really pretty!

Happy St. Nick! Does anybody else celebrate this? It seems like there are a lot of people who haven't heard of it...but it's really popular around here. We all have a stocking (I guess some people just put out shoes but our mom made stockings for me and my sisters when we were babies :)) and then we get little treats. This year I got some candy, a couple gift cards, and an ornament. That's another tradition that we have...ever since we were little we get a new ornament each year. So you can imagine the collection we have now!

Anyways, here's another Disney Christmas picture since I didn't post one yesterday...The Osborne Lights! If you've never seen these in person it's so hard to describe. Pictures really don't do it justice. So awesome!

4 MONTHS UNTIL OUR TRIP!!! :dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Sam celebrated it at school on Friday. I remember sitting in class wearing one shoe waiting to get my candy cane. Super fun!

How did I get so behind?:confused3

Anyway, loved your new Top Ten List of Disney movies!!! Peter Pan, Nemo, and Enchanted are on the top of my list as well. I have soooo many favorites it would be very hard to narrow them down. But I do love the classics like Lady and the Tramp and Bambi. I also like Lilo and Stitch and.... UP ranks pretty high on my list also!;)

Thanks for posting all the Christmas pictures at the Beach Club---so beautiful!!

I remember seeing that chocolate carousel on one of the Christmas Travel Channel specials last year..was it Samantha Brown?

YAY BEACH CLUB PICTURES!!!!

I'll get to see that on Thursday night!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know if I'm more excited about going on the rides or enjoying the Christmas decorations at YC/BC and WL???!!!!!

I'll be sure to attempt to update FB for you while I"m gone!

I haven't seen Bambi in ages. Lilo and Stitch is cute too and Up is probably one of my favorite Pixar movies too. :thumbsup2

Yeah, it might've been on one of the Travel Channel shows.

SO JEALOUS!! It is so depressing because last year at this time we'd be about a week away from our trip. :sad2: I really want to go again next December...who cares if it's crowded!

I'll be anxiously awaiting some facebook updates...;)

Hi DIS friends!

I've been really bad at updating this PTR lately...still not much as far as planning goes. I've been reading my Hidden Magic book and learning lots about all those secrets found in the parks. Just reading it makes you appreciate all the work and creativity that goes into the attractions. I'll have to post a list of some of the most interesting things/things I want to look for on our trip.

Hope everyone's been staying warm. It's been pretty cold here the past couple days! :cold: Makes me want to go to Florida even more. But we're getting closer to the 100 day countdown, yippee!

I'll leave you with another Christmas picture of the day. I really want to go again next December. Over the weekend I asked Dad if we had enough Vacation Club points to do that. I don't even care about the crowds, I just want to go see the decorations again. Is another trip in the works? Well...no, but hey, I am working on it! haha

n20305212_34373493_5195.jpg

One more thing...do any of you remember the old Honey I Shrunk the Audience preshow? The one with True Colors? The other day Dad showed me a video he found on youtube of that show. We all liked it better than the newer one. Enjoy!

TRUE COLORS

Hey Sarah!!! I FINALLY had a chance to get on here and try to catch up on your PTR. Love your Christmas pictures! It makes me kind of sad, though, too. Disney World at Christmastime is my absolute FAVORITE time to go. In fact, just yesterday I was lamenting over the fact that A) I could've gotten in for free b/c of my b-day and B) I could've seen all the awesome Christmas decorations. BOO!!! Anyway...I hope you get to go back next December. That would be awesome!! I can't believe you're going to be in double digits soon. WOO!!! :woohoo:

Hi Kirsten! Glad you're back on the DIS! :thumbsup2 Just in time for your trip. :)

It kind of makes me sad too looking at the Christmas pictures. It is such an awesome time to visit. Part of the fun is just getting to see all the decorations and special events. Ahhh I really want to go back.
