wdwgirl and Dad do Disney:an April '10 PTR...TR LINK ADDED!! p. 56

Hi everyone!

Well it's a little bit warmer here today than it has been...it's supposed to get into the 30s! :rotfl:

No major trip news (still ) but I did receive my Disney Dream Rewards Dollars card yesterday. A while ago I mentioned how I got something in the mail for the Disney Visa and one of the incentives to opening an account was that you'd receive 200 dream reward dollars after your first purchase. In other words, I'd get $200 to spend on Disney stuff! I'm going to put it toward my park ticket fund. I was planning on getting a 10-day park hopper with no expiration but a couple of times Dad has said something about getting an annual pass. If I did that, that would be helpful if some of us do decide to go next December. Maybe I should just get an AP and that way I'd have to plan another trip to get my money's worth. haha! We'll see though.

I also wanted to share this story that was in the paper this morning. A lady from around here made it into the Guiness Book of World Records for her Winnie-the-Pooh collection. The story has a picture as well and let me say, it is quite impressive!:eek: Wonder if she is a DISer...here's the link if you're interested.

And last but not least some more Christmas pictures! This time we head to Epcot. I could be wrong but I think I read that they don't have these anymore this year. :confused3 Does anybody know for sure?

Enjoy your weekend!

Totally random but I just got an email from the Disney Store about the newest arrivals from the parks. One of them is the monorail t-shirt! I must have it. haha!

I love that shirt too! I've said I'm going to buy it on every trip, but have yet to do so...maybe this one!

Favorite Sports movie: Miracle

miracle-movie.jpg

Even though I am a sports fan I am not really into hockey but this movie is awesome. If you don't know, it's the story of the US hockey team in the 1980 Olympics. And if you don't know how the story goes, the US, a team made up of amateur players ends up beating the Soviets, who were made up of professional hockey players. The US then went on to win the gold medal. I wasn't born yet during those Olympics but I remember when we first saw it Dad told us stories about how exciting it was. Ahhh, it's just a feel-good story. :thumbsup2

I LOVE Miracle!!! Such a great movie! I'm not into sports at all, but this one-wow, such a great storyline and I love that it's based on a true story. And that same coach also worked at St. Cloud State where I went to college! :thumbsup2

Then right after Christmas I can start my 100-day countdown...we hit the 100 day mark on December 27. Is that sad that I already figured that out?!

No, completely normal. ::yes:: (at lest for around here....;))

I am LOVING all your Christmas pictures. Aieeeeeeeeeee! 13 days for me!! I can't believe it!!

I could be wrong but I think I read that they don't have these anymore this year. :confused3 Does anybody know for sure?

Enjoy your weekend!

You are RIGHT. :sad2: No arches this year! I'm SO BUMMED! They are down for refurb. Couldn't they do that in January when they took them down?!?! :confused3

haha, that sounds like me! I keep saying the next one, the next one.

I agree, the fact that it's based on a true story makes it even better. Kinda makes me wish I was born when it really happened.

Sooo jealous for 13 days!

Hmm, that is strange that they are down for refurb. Why not do it before Christmas (or after like you said). :confused3

That picture of the woman with all her Pooh stuff is CRAZY! Haha, they should have set the picture up so that it looked like ET in the midst of all the stuffed animals. I like the 2 baby Poohs that are to the left of her feet in the picture. So cute!

And just because there was a recent question about one of the students at school having lice, I can't imagine the cleanup she'd have to do if she had a kid with lice! She'd have to put ALL of the stuffed animals into bags! Yeah, that was just a random thought that came to my mind when I saw all those plushies!

Even though you don't have trip-related news, I still look forward to all your updates! :yay:

It's been a while since I posted. I am loving the regular Christmas pictures. I had heard about not having Lights of Wonder this year. Supposedly, it wasn't working when it came out of storage.

BTW, I think I would die if it were 30 degrees here as the high of the day.

LOL, I know, isn't it crazy?! And I thought I had a lot of Disney stuff! But at the same time it is kind of awesome.

haha, nice random thought.

Thanks for still reading. :thumbsup2

Ahhh, well if that's the case then I guess it makes sense to be down for refurbishment.

Even though it was 30 degrees this weekend it felt so warm compared to what it was on Thursday and Friday! We had to have indoor recess because the wind chill was below zero.

Holy Pooh! That woman clearly has an affinity for Pooh. I wonder what the world record is for pins?

Wow, that is so cool you earned 200 reward points just for making one purchase...SWEET!!

Boo!! That stinks they took the arches away at Epcot. I thought they were so pretty. Bummer.

Christmas was so much fun! You have to convince your dad to go or let you go. How exactly do DVC points work?

I know!!! I wonder what the pin record would be. I thought I had a lot but then I saw some other people's collections...and OMG!!! :scared1: It's frightening thinking about how much $$$$ some of these collections are worth (heck it's bad enough thinking about how much I've blown on pins ).

haha, yep, that was pretty much the only reason I got the Disney Visa. OK, not really but it was a big deciding factor.

Hopefully the arches will be back next year. :thumbsup2

Glad you had fun on your trip! I love going over the holidays. I'll have to look and see when Christmas is and try to figure out when schools' winter breaks will be to see if I could go.

As for the DVC points, when you purchase a contract, you buy a certain number of points. Ours has 250. I was talking to Dad the other day about it and he sort of explained how it all works. It can get kind of complicated with borrowing/banking but generally you "pay" for your trip with the points. As you can probably guess the time you visit determines the number of points you have to use...in other words, during peak seasons (aka Christmas) we have to use a lot more. Hopefully that makes a little bit of sense but that's the basic gist of it. The nice thing is that with the points it turns out to be a lot cheaper than if you were staying at one of the resorts without DVC!

Happy Wednesday! 5 1/2 days until winter break! :yay:

I just realized that if this was last year we'd be getting ready to board the plane for our trip. :sad2::sad2::sad2: Wish I was going again! Thought I'd share a couple more pictures...this time they're from the Grand Floridian! We took the monorail to the GF and Polynesian before going to MVMCP to see some of the decorations. Awww I want to go. :sad2: Sorry for the whining. LOL. Enjoy!

I'm going to post another Top Ten list soon so stay tuned. popcorn::

Awww isn't the GF just gorgeous at Christmas?

Thanks for explaining the DVC points. My mom and I were killing time before our flight and checked out the model room at the Boardwalk. The guy working was really nice and wasn't pushy at all. My mom kept asking him questions about it then mentioned something to my dad when we got back! Now that I know how it works a little better, maybe I can convince them.

Can't wait for the next top ten!!

It sure is!

Isn't the model room nice? We went in there on our trip last Dec. Really made me want to stay there. That would be awesome if you could convince them about DVC! I never in a million years thought we'd be members!

Top Ten list will hopefully be up this weekend!

Hey guys! Quick update/life update.

Tomorrow is my sister's college graduation. Can't believe she's already done (that also makes me feel really old because that means I've been out of school for almost two years :scared1::sad2:). Anyways, once she is done student teaching in January she and my parents are going to Disney World to celebrate (without me and my other sister...grrrr). Please head over to her PTR and tell her CONGRATULATIONS and check out their trip plans! :thumbsup2

Time to go out and finish up my Christmas shopping before the MU game this afternoon! Nothing like waiting until the last minute. I'm hoping to get my new top ten list up tonight. It's going to be a good one!

Have a great weekend!

I just wrote this on your sisters thread, but we are both 22, just graduated, celebrating it at Disney, and both are named Clare/Claire!

I can't wait for another top ten list!

I can't wait for your next Top Ten list!

OK, so as promised here comes my next Top Ten list!

As you know all to well by now, we've been going to Disney World as long as I can remember. We went for the first time when I was five years old  and each time we go I love it even more. Since we've taken so many trips, we've seen a lot of attractions come and go. I thought for this list I'd share some of my favorite attractions of years past. So here goes...click on the name of the attraction to see a youtube video!

Sarah's Top Ten Extinct Disney attractions!

10. Mousekemaze
This was a little attraction in Mickey's Starland that my sisters and I loved. It was basically a kid-sized maze with these water spouts in them and everyone would run around trying to cover up the spouts. LOL! Really pointless but hey, we were little and thought it was a blast. I'll have to see if I can find the picture of me in it and upload it.

9. Pasta Piazza
OK, so this is not really an attraction, just a restaurant at Epcot. It used to be where the Electric Umbrella is now and it was sooo good. Best part was Mickey shaped pasta. :thumbsup2

8. Mickey's Starland Show
Before Toontown Fair came about, it was called Mickey's Starland. We saw this show on one of our first trips and being that I was 5 or so, I LOVED this show...it was pretty much based off all the old Disney Afternoon shows like Gummi Bears and Tale Spin. I was so obsessed with the girl who was the host (strangely enough, I think her name was Stacy! haha! ETA: OK, just watched some of the video, the girl's name was not Stacy it was CJ. CJ, Stacy, sounds kind of the same...) that I kind of wanted to be her. I couldn't wait to go see it again on our next trip so I could see her. Well, guess what they decided to do? Get a new girl! That definitely disappointed me.

7. Aladdin Parade
In the early-mid '90s MGM always had parades for the newest movies. I remember them having other parades for Mulan and Toy Story. The Aladdin one was fun. It had some neat floats, like the elephant version of Abu with Aladdin and Jasmine riding atop on the magic carpet. If you've ever seen the Full House episodes in Disney World, the huge genie that Michelle awakens to become "princess for a day" was in that parade. :rotfl:

6. Legend of the Lion King
Formerly where Philharmagic is now. LOTLK was an amazing show that featured HUGE puppets and it of course told the story of The Lion King.

5. The Skyway
Kind of like the TTA, it was just one of those relaxing rides. Plus it was pretty cool getting to see the Magic Kingdom from the air!

4. Tapestry of Dreams Parade
We only saw this once but it was such a cool parade with all those larger-than-life puppets. And again, it had a great soundtrack!

3. Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
Mr. Toad isn't totally extinct since they still have it at Disneyland but I still miss it at Disney World. Don't get me wrong, I love The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh but Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was a classic! The one scene I remember the most is where you're in your car and get "hit" by a train!

2. Remember the Magic Parade
This was the parade for Disney World's 25th anniversary and I think this might be when I first really got the Disney bug. Not really sure why but I think the song might've had something to do with it. Soooo cute. "Your heart could just take wing, you could live out all your dreams, no matter how no matter when, you reach that world again...it's like a dream come true, that lives inside of you...it's time to remember the magic!" Totally random but I have the song on my ipod and was listening to it the other day, thinking how I am so going to go to Disney World when they have their 50th anniversary. haha!

1. The Original Journey Into Imagination!!!
As we all know there have been a couple refurbishments to this attraction but NEITHER of them compare to the original with Dreamfinder and of course Figment! For those of you who never got to see that version, trust me, it was AWESOME! Plus the old version of the ImageWorks (kind of like the What If? Labs they have now or whatever the heck they're called) was way better. The things I remember the most was a station where you could do a computer painting of Figment and/or Dreamfinder and then these huge pin tables...don't know what you'd call them but they had these pins on them that when you pushed on them they'd move and you could make handprints and stuff. Ahhh I miss it. :sad2: Definitely tops the list of Extinct Disney. :thumbsup2

In other news my sister was watching our recording of that Disney holiday show they had on HGTV and apparently said something to Dad how Disney World is so pretty at Christmas. Of course now he thinks that it is my doing and trying to get other people to go. He said something to Mom about how some of us want to go next December...so we will see what happens...popcorn::

haha yeah, I saw that! And you both went to Big East schools. :rotfl:

I can't believe I'm done with college either. When did we get so old?!? :confused3 And thanks for the plug for my PTR! ;)

I can't wait for your next Top Ten list!

You're welcome, I thought you might like some more readers. :)

hahaha, same here! I'm pretty sure we have that whole show on tape (or atleast most of it). :rotfl:

I think the Pasta Piazza was on the other side of the fountain- like where the character greetings are now.
