WDW will NOT accept "codes" if you do not have the postcard.

If i'm not mistaken Sammie is either a CM or has close connections to them... he had info on the closeing of Alfredo's as well.
Feel free to correct me if i'm wrong Sammie.

Not a CM, but do have very close friends in upper management positions at Reservations, Resorts and Dining. We have been going to Disney since it opened. Over the years and due to my parents living in Orlando many of my Dad's business contacts and neighbors are Disney employees.

If they were going to correct the situation it would have happend prior to the first guest arriving. That did not happen.

Well, thanks for that! I wasn't terribly worried to begin with, and I am definitely not now.

;) I was just curious if you were guessing or you had insider info.

Oh for crying out loud, how the hell is this thread still kickin? The first people are back who used the code, nothing happened, nothing will happen..now let's move on and get back to posting 15 threads speculating about free dining.

The thread is still "kickin" because someone posted a similar topic & Trekker (moderator) merged the new thread (topic) into this one--thus bumping this back to the top...

Once it was back up there, well, you know...

Hey Sammie! So sorry to hijack this thread (even though it's begging to be taken in another direction). Since you seem to be somewhat "in the know", have you heard anything about the possibility of free dining this fall? I am currently booked at AS Music at 40% off with dining, but the free dining offer would save me an additional 500. Just grasping at straws...

I thought you could only have one discount. EITHER the 40% off or free dining (if it's offered) Just curious because I thought that I read that on the Dis.

This is true!

I believe what frannn is saying is that if free dining comes out giving up the 40% room discount and getting free dining would save an additional $500.00

Sorry...my bad...that was me. Apparently it's "old news" and I didn't know it, so I inquired with CRO and opened the whole can of worms again!

I'll do more research next time! ;)

Hey, no skin off my back, I was just explaining why this thread was resurrected, lol.

Since I opted to stick with a value resort for our 10 day vacation, the 40% with the DP (paying for it) will cost 1650. If I can get free dining instead of the 40% off, my total cost will be about 1130. Both totals include one day passes for DD4, DH, and I.

As to free dining, I was told they are reviewing the booking levels and a good possiblity it will be offered again but for a more limited time frame.

I am sitting here at my desk actually crying because I can't take this anymore.

After being made to feel like such a criminal because a CM booked us with the code even though we didn't get a postcard (the CM told us we might have a pin, there was no way to check, but the code was valid regardless), I stopped hanging out here for a while.

I thought this all may have blown over, and I came back today to share some really cool news -- but what did I find? More people trying to take the fun out of Disney. I am not in the least bit worried about losing my code, like someone said, it was given to me by Disney, it's not like I robbed a bank or something. And please don't try to tell me that when I check in with my paid reservation they are suddenly going to up the price after I've flown out there -- wouldn't that qualify as a bait and switch?

Why is there so much negativity???? I am so upset and so anxious right now. I wouldn't have even read this thread, but it looked like it had been reopened after a month and I thought there might be some actual news. So I read all 11 miserable pages. And I feel lousy now. No happy Disney feelings.

I loved the DISboards. They make the long months and years between trips somewhat bearable. But I'm going to have to find another place, 'cause I won't put myself through this anymore.

I feel awful that not everyone got the code and I understand why they would want to vent for a while. But it's been over a month! If I hadn't been offered the discount, I would have been really bummed, but I certainly wouldn't hold it against anyone who did.

I know I'm taking it too personally, but I am so sad now. Just too much negativity on this board...:sad1:

Slooooowly getting sucked back in, note to self - don flame suit first lol.

Let's see, you (and many others) didn't get the code, didn't have it attached to your name; but by a fluke (karma, uneducated CMs-whatever) got a heck of a deal that originally wasn't intended for you.

Many others (me, me, me lol) tried unsucessfully to snag the same deal; but were refused....

Soooo, you expect us to be happy and throw tons of :wizard: your way?:confused3 How dare we rant about our slight and make the lucky ones feel uncomfortable?:rolleyes1 Think it's human nature to want to get the same deal and to be treated fairly when it comes to Disney doling out codes.

Ask yourself this question: If the proverbial shoe were on the other foot; would you feel the same way?;)

While I hope y'all enjoy your discounted trips (especially those who are able to enjoy the magic for the first time) try and remember the rest of us sitting in the corner eating worms with compassion.:lmao:

 It never stops around here. Just when you think its going to be a good day BAM it starts all over again.

Keisha,
You know it goes both ways... i remeber last year when we (meaning you and i) had the AP rate and people were moaning and complaining that they couldnt get it and that we shouldnt complain that it wasnt as big a discount as we wanted.
For the record no one is saying that you shouldnt be envious of the ones who got it. What we are saying is that it is not nice to come into a thread and tell people who got the code that Disney is going to revoke their reservations and that anyone who got the reservation without a pin is morally criminal. It's not fair to make people feel bad about something they got just becaus you didnt. Be upset, be angry, but be all those things at the people who allowed this to happen - not the people got the discount.

Most def. I wanted the discount last year; and took it on the chops by many who felt it was shady - came with the territory.

Many felt this time that Disney would follow suit and revoke the code; it didn't happen for whatever reason...so be it.

I'm the first to admit I wish I snagged it; and would have expected the same outcry as last year from those who didn't get it.

Sorry if the poster felt sad, cried whatever; those are HER feelings. I'm stating mine...don't make me the villian because she feels bad.

Not sure whether you or others got the code rate or not (or under what circumstances you acquired it) nor, do I really care. Just don't expect those of us who didn't get it to accept blame when someone posts that they feel sad/guilty because the 'un-luved' have stated their feelings.:confused3

No animosity toward those that got the deal - I'll still make my trips; just pay more;) ; just wish I could've gotten it too; not unreasonable to feel thusly IMO.

I guess my problem with all of this is why should anyone have to "take it on the chops"? Aren't these boards supposed to be here so that we as a Disney loving community can provide advice, answers, support and maybe others to chat with that have a common thread? I don't think that busting anyones chops about things gets anyone anywhere and just makes people feel bad like the poster above did. It isn't her fault or anyone on heres fault that some people didn't get a code and some did. It is Disney's fault. If chops need to be busted it would be the ones at Disney, not each other. We have no control over who gets what code so why flame each other?

Oy vey!

I don't think anyone should feel guilty for getting the code
I didn't get the code originally, and I didn't have any bad feelings towards people who did recieve it, I thought, GOOD FOR THEM!

Finally, I did get the code, was I sopposed to get it?? I doubt it but I don't know nor do I care, Disney gave it to me. I still don't even understand the pin thing and I don't care to understand it, I called and they gave me a price and that is what I will pay..

I undertsand that sometimes other people will get a better deal than me and sometimes I will get a better deal than them, I think thats called Life, and weather fair or not thats the way it is.

Its like, when you hear someone got a free room upgrade do you think, 'How dare they when I never got that?' or do you think, 'wow thats great I'm happy for them??'
I have never had a free room upgrade But when I hear someone did I think thats great! Personally I have the same feelings for people with the discounts they get.

Maybe everyone should just chill out and be happy for everyone because I'm sure at one point and time everyone got a good deal when someone else didn't
