Hi everyone - I'm planning a trip for Feb 2015 with my cousin (girls trip :woohoo: ) I tried searching the board for some answers and couldn't find anything regarding this. We haven't booked our package yet, but are planning to book our whole package with Disney (hotel, tickets, and dining). I'm also planning a trip to DL for this Nov. and figured, might as well upgrade to a premier passport to get my $ worth (my family goes to DL roughly 4 times a year). My question is - if we were to book our WDW trip package with tickets, how would I be able to upgrade my tickets at DL to a premier passport, since I won't have any physical tickets yet? Or, could my cousin and I book our WDW trip with her only purchasing her tickets so that she can book our ADR's and I can just purchase a Premier passport when I'm at DL (will this work if I don't have any tickets for WDW and thus can't be linked to a dining plan?). Also, if the first option would work, when does the Premier passport officially start - the date we booked the tickets or when it's upgraded at DL? Hope this makes sense. Thanks for any help!

Everyone on a Disney package (so room, tickets and optional dining plan) must have the same tickets.

AP holders can reserve an AP rate room (or a full price room) and add the dining plan (it's called a ticketless package). I assume Premier AP holders can do the same.

It sounds like you, should get your premier pass at DL, book an AP ticketless package with DDP and have your cousin get her tickets separately. Or for more flexibility, skip the DDP and book a room only reservation.

Packages and room only have different deposit requirements, different cancellation requirements, and different discount offers.

Thanks for the response!

If we were to buy the WDW pkg. with the tickets, can I go to DL and see if they can check those tickets to upgrade to the Premier?

In general, I don't know how that work at DL, but I don't know how you would do that anyway since your DL trip is months before the WDW trip. You wouldn't have the WDW tickets yet. (And again, I don't myself know anything about upgrades at DL.)

Actually as a Premier Annual Passholder, you will be able to book a ticketless package to get a paid dining plan for the girls' trip.

Since your DL trip comes first, you'll have to buy the Premier AP at DL and if you are buying tickets to DisneyLAND for the November trip you can use those to upgrade to the Premier AP.

An AP holder who wants a paid dining plan can book a ticketless package for DW so you'll be able to book the package for the February DW trip. Your cousin can buy her DW tickets separately. Everyone in the room will have the dining package.

The clock starts ticking on Annual Passports when you pick up the passports at the park so in November when you get them at the ticket booth in DL.

You both are so helpful, thanks!

So I know now to purchase the Premier @ DL, my cousin would be booking her own hotel/dining/tickets and I would be booking my own separate ticketless package after I get my pass. Because my trip to DL is not until Nov., but our ADR's open up in August, how do we book our dining reservations? Can she book them on her package but to include me in the reservation, since we're on separate packages (but she'll be purchasing hers first)?

Guests can book more guests at ADR's than are part of a given package.
Just book the ADR for the number of guests who will be attending that meal.

Now, I'm confused. You and your cousin are going together in February - are you planning to stay in the same room? If you are in the same room you only need one resort package. I think I see what is happening:

If you wait until after you get the Premier AP at Disneyland you could book a ticketless package for both of you. Your cousin would have to purchase her tickets separately. I know you can book an AP package with just an AP voucher (you have to show the actual AP once you arrive at DW), but I don't know if you can book an AP package without a voucher and with an explanation that you'll be getting the Premier in November. You could try calling and ask if this is possible.

If you or your cousin books a package for both of you before your 180 day in August to take advantage of the 180 + 10 and you want a paid dining plan, you will have to include at least a 1 day ticket for everyone in the room. Since you'll have the Premier AP in February, you could save your 1 day ticket for a future trip to DW when you don't have an AP or use it if you renew your AP next year. Your cousin can add more days to her ticket once she arrives in February.

Even without a resort reservation, you can still make dining reservations in August, but you'll have to do it 1 day at a time. You won't have the 180 + 10 perk. Also, make the reservations for the maximum number of people who will be going to the restaurant.

Package rates for next year haven't been released yet, but once they come out (most are guessing sometime this month), you can call and ask about a ticketless package that is currently being offered. It's only available by phone and hasn't been publicized by Disney so I haven't read whether it's a limited time offer or what the details are other than it is like the ticketless package offered to AP holders, but you don't need an AP to get it.
