Technically, as long as you are outside, wear a mask, and maintain social distance, a theme park is one of the safer places to be. Much better than being inside having a meal, or attending a convention.

I'm very curious to see the pics of opening day at WDW. I wonder how full the parks will be, and how easy it is to keep your distance from other guests.
I will be at Epcot this month. And I am 76 yrs old. I go out of The house every day.

I can see it opening, but think it'll close sometime after all four parks open up, and that time being right near August. I've got my theories or guesses if you will why I think it'll open and then close, but honestly that's it, guesses. No inside knowledge, I don't know any CMs.

We had an early August trip planned, I cancelled it.

I predict that they will probably open, and then they will likely have to close again. It would make much more sense (and it would be more socially responsible) to just delay a month or two and see how things are then, IMO. I know there are lots of opinions on this though.

I've stated this on another thread- I believe that travel should be curtailed at this time. Until this problem is treated on a national level,as one country,it will continue to get worse, and keep going in this vicoious little circle we've created for ourselves.
My point? State by state, county by county, each have a different story for Covid19,each a different pattern, some worse, some better. (luckier) None of this matters, if people are free to travel from one county/state to another without regard for the spread. Anything a local govt. tries to do with preventing further spread is completely useless if anyone and everyone is allowed to travel to/thru that area anyway.
I LOVE to travel, and it saddens me that I'm not traveling right now. That said, I won't be doing it for a while,as the spreading of this is wrong IMHO. Too many people make the 'personal choice' that works best for themselves, without regard for the bigger picture.
I'm not personally speaking to anyone who chooses to do this, but I know for sure 100% what I need to do,as a responsible adult right now.

What do you think about cruise ships?

I would get on a cruise ship tomorrow if they were sailing.
Never, ever, ever agin for me personally. I (foolishly perhaps) ignored previous illness that could sweep thru a ship and cause problems, but after seeing what happened to so many people on so many ships in basically a minute? That opened my eyes. I can't make myself want it anymore.

A country wide stance from the very beginning would have made things drastically different. Telling States they needed to take care of their problems themselves set us all up for this mess.

I wouldn't be traveling to FL right now, but it is big state, a spike in cases doesn't mean the entire state is experiencing that.
I haven't been following closely, is Orlando one of the hotspots in the state right now?

I am personally getting tired of all of the grandma stuff. Nobody - nobody - wants to get COVID or give COVID to anyone. What we have are millions of people who have been and continue going to work who have just as many concerns, old family members, and reasons just as much as the next person. But if that person is necessary for you to have electricity, water, deliveries or food then screw them and give an empty “thank you” and then trash them when they might want to do something besides work.
this is the difference - you're comparing two different things. Weighing the benefits to the risks, what will we choose?
1----- Work is essential, we all need to pay our bills, etc, so we MUST find a way to continue working as safely as possible (and then, staying away from others unless taking precautions, b/c the NECESSARY work means possible exposure and consequences)
2---- Play/travel etc is NOT ESSENTIAL. It is fun,and MANY of us love it,but it isn't an essential thing- not at all. I can take a day, relax somewhere near home. Is it as fun as a trip to WDW? NOPE. But a trip to WDW could bring so much damage to others I interact with in my life, that I can easily forgo it for a while. It's a LOT of chances being taken, for something that I don't really NEED.
That to me is the difference.

I don't totally disagree with you, but I think saying "no travel" (whether between states or counties) is practically impossible. How many people live in one state and work in another? Or live in one county and work in another ? :wave2:

It has been reported here that there are no known clusters linked to the recent protests b/c ppl were outside & mostly wore masks. If that’s true, wdw should be no different, if not better, b/c ppl will also be 6ft apart. Ppl like to just keep saying going to a theme park is bad but can’t adequately explain why.
You are NOT outside all day at a theme park you. You are inside attractions, restaurants, stores, etc.

But so many things that supply work for ppl which you said is essential relies on ppl participating in things they don’t need...like travel.

That's what I think, on the it would be better just to delay opening. However, leaving certain elements off the Dis discussion table, it's going to be closer to August.

Ok & no more than you are at home at target. You should be wearing masks & staying 6 ft apart from ppl.
Sure if you are spending 12 hours shopping. I go in grab what I need and leave. I don’t sit in the food court for an hour, browse for something for a couple hours, etc. As for the “magic” 6 foot thing, that’s not likely to be maintained at a theme park.
