I am so glad to hear this, now if they would just do away with strollers!!! :dance3:

:rotfl2: :lmao: That would be great! Then people would stop trying to run me over with their strollers in crowds!

Thank you Disney in advance for saving my and my childrens life! LOL

I just hope they enforce this rule. Last Oct my husband and I almost became a new decoration in the pavement in frontiertown. Very scarey.

Unfortunately it is very difficult to enforce. I don't think most CMs look at kids feet and they really can't confiscate the shoes because the people won't have other shoes to wear.

I've seen children be told by a CM to not use the shoes as skates in the park and then as soon as the CM walked away they were back to skating again and their irresponsible parents didn't care that their kids were breaking the rules. This is not to say that all parents who allow their children to have these shoes are irresponsible, just those parents who allow their children to continue using them as skates after they have been told that the rules do not allow skating inside the parks.

What really needs to happen is, they need to get rid of the people who stop in front of strollers. What I am saying is, it goes both ways. Strollers and ECV's are necessary.

Haven't been around technology too long, huh?

My basement is a testament to the "I'll stick with X for life" fantasy.

LP's & 45's
Reels of tape
8 Tracks
Audio Cassettes
DAT's
Mini-Discs
2" Quad Videotape
3/4" Umatic Video Cassettes
1" VPR reels Videotape
BetaCam SP Video Cassettes
VHS Videotape
Hi8 Video Cassettes
DVD's
miniDV Video Cassettes (I'm sticking with THESE for Life!) :rotfl:

And that doesn't scratch the surface of the computer technology "graveyard" that's constantly growing.

At least BluRay will be completely compatible with all DVDs. :bounce:
Hmm, computers are still too expensive for a lot of people out there, (for instance I only have one at work) so I don't think the CDs are leaving any time soon. But when they do - I'll be ready for them.

Just to let you know, I have an extensive collection of LPs and 45s. They still sell them (they're just not portable) so vinyl has not disappeared yet. At least not for my music. :yay:

Actually, HD-DVD and BRD are both compatible with all "standard" DVD's as well. Both HD-DVD and BRD will scale the image to 1080i or 720p.

To quote my son, "I've got an idea!"

To better enforce the no heely rule this is what they should do:

Upon entrance to the security line at the park, they should inspect your shoes, it really wouldn't add much time to the search.
If you are wearing heely's then you should be pulled from the line to a separate area, this way you don't slow down the rest of us who AREN'T wearing those silly things.
At a seperate area you would be given two choices,
A) You can take your heely wearing behind and leave the park, go get CORRECT shoes and then come back and have a magical day.
OR
B) You can select from an offering of DISNEY related shoes (I've seen them in shoe stores, there are mickey gym shoes, flip flops, etc.) They'd have an array of sizes ranging all possible sizes of foot. And you can pay for the shoe and then progress into the park while Guest Services holds onto your precious Heely's and you can pick them up when you leave the park.

This way there is no chance of messing about with the CMs having to confront non-rule conforming kids and their equally rule breaking parents. A big bad surly police looking type man can nip the whole thing in the bud before any heely wheel touches park land!
And if they have them stuffed in their bags, well they search those too right?!

That's my idea! I hope Disney is listening! Because the first child to smack into me or mine while wearing those Heely's will be in for a world of hurt!

I love it! :lmao:I will have to remember that one!
I'm right with you, I was the one who was laughing with tears in my eyes when the kid who nearly ran my daughter over and did run into me ended up on his back about four feet later--nope not nice to laugh at the injury, but the stupidity really pushed me over the edge and of course about 10 days of crazy touring in the hot sun. Of course after the 14th day and two watching kids zip around the club level at AKL I figured that WDW didn't even have a rule since no one enforced it! I did see the no bathing suit rule enforced in some places but not others, the shoes rule enforced in some places but not others, apparently it is also ok to pee your name in the parking lot at Epcot and carry an open container through the lot and into the park since attendant and security didn't seem to have a problem with that. It is ok to wear a bathing suit for dining at CP at MK, but not to wear one in AK. An offensive shirt was told to be turned inside out or be ejected from the park at AK. I could go on and on, I guess with attendance up it is the same percentage of rule breakers, but more obvious?

I will be a MK on Wed 11/29 to collect on all Mickey Bar offers!

For those making threats against children, I sure hope your child never does anything to someone who has that kind of attitude and acts upon it. I think it show peoples ignorance when they make statements of hurting a child to get back at them.

Amen to that polyfan, people are getting a little vicious here. Maybe this whole thread should be removed.
I find it ridiculous what some people are saying and am going to report it.

You stated that computers are too expensive but on your last 2 trips you have stayed at a deluxe, and your next one is concierge.

It's all about priorities.

While I don't condone violence towards anyone, I understand the frustration that some people can feel when they get hurt or stressed out by children whose parents can't seem to say no to them.

If I was hurt/crashed into by a child on Heelys at WDW (or anywhere else) I'd make sure to get in the parent's face about it. I'd be sure to embarrass the kid too.

Glad I put on that flameproof suit!

Next they need to do something about the scooters and strollers. I am tired of having my heels rammed into by them or they just stop right in front of you and you end up falling into them.
Or vice versa YOU stop right in front of the ECV/WC or try to cut in front of ECV/WC and we accidently clip your ankles. Or you aren't looking walk and fall on top of the person in the ECV/WC. Sorry but ECV/WC are there to stay. Users have a right to access just as much as anyone else

We were at WDW 3 weeks ago and Heelie use was everywhere. I mean everywhere. No one was enforcing it. While we were sitting and waiting for Spectro there were 5 kids spinning on their heelies in the roadway with CMs asking how they did their tricks. The CMs had hulahoops and the kids would skate and jump through the hoops. Don't let that email get anyone's hopes up. There were tons of these in Epcto, MGM, MK, and AK.

No, but as it is not only against Disney rules but also against Florida law for them to be worn in theme parks (thanks to another poster for that tip) if I see someone on heelys acting in an irresponsible fashion I will have a CM do something about it, and if they do not, ask to speak to their supervisor. When we were there a couple of times kids used my husband's rented ECV as their brakes, he says, and his new one that we purchased and are bringing down is not as heavy-duty. While guests may not have the "authority" to insist that they enforce their own rules, we DO have the authority to insist that they enforce Florida state law if it is putting us or our property in jeopardy.

I agree they don't belong in the parks. I hate those things and hold the stupid parents responsible. My point it no matter who reports who it will be a lost cause as there were too many to police. There aren't enough CMs working to hunt them down. The only solution I see is stopping them before the enter the parks. If they have on heelies then they don't come in.

I hate Heelys. I hate stupid parents.

I agree that the wheels should be confiscated (if they do indeed come out) and not returned until the family exits the park. I agree that there should be LARGE signs warning that they are prohibited in the parks. I agree that if anybody is caught wearing them they should be ejected from the park and not allowed back in until they have changed shoes (if the wheels do not come out).

I have chronic back problems. If some little jerk skates into me I could be seriously injured. (ANYONE could be seriously injured, but my susceptibility is higher since my back is already compromised.) If I get run over by some kid in Heelys then I will hold the parents responsible for any and all medical treatment I require, and I bet that will be very expensive.

Insert sarcastic tone:

Now people...we don't want anyone to become violent or someone may report this thread...we shouldn't hate anyone...least of all the innocent children who put us in the hospital...or their stupid parents...

Jumping back into flameproof suit!

Apparently people don't follow the rules or they aren't enforced, because during my recent trip Heelys were everywhere. One kid almost ran into me!
