WDW Attractions for the ride phobic, staunchly (think Footloose) religious?

While the premise of Fantasmic is that good defeats evil, there is the witch that casts the spell, and Malificent does turn into a dragon and there is the part that Chernabog is projected onto the water with ghosts and flying skull type things. However, I suggest you and your boys not miss this. It's an amazing show.

Peter Pan is not scary at all.

Sounds like she'll be skipping this then.. *sigh*

Kids should like it, though!

She shouldn't have a problem with Illuminations luckily. That's about the nations/world, etc. Not sure if she'll have a problem with Wishes. You won't really see anything like you would in Fantasmic, but listen to the Wishes soundtrack because at one point you hear the witch cast a spell and Jiminy Cricket says something about the good fairy. Not sure if that will be a problem.

Should be ok, there...

Also, I know someone mentioned the Tiki Room, but not sure if she'll have a problem with the goddess Pele being involved. Is it a problem even if it's part of another's culture?

Definitely not the main focus/theme of the show, but she does make an appearance.

Going from the write up on Disney's site it seems fine..

But then, I though the movie "Brave" would be okay, too.. :sad2:

(she made it till the witch scene)

We're flying in and staying on site.. And who says she's Christian? :)

She's a Jehovah's Witness, so they hate.. basically every other religion (including catholic),..

Now I'm confused. I have a very good friend that is a very devout Jehovah's Witness and he has none of these hangups or hatreds. How can a person be religious and harbor hatred at the same time? Seems like the two shouldn't mix. What I'm talking about is not being able to distinguish between a make believe show designed only for entertainment and making like someone is trying to influence them.

Disney uses a lot of those symbolic references and always has, but the "good guy" always wins in the end. Sort of like smiting the devil, in a way!

Heights and spinning are completely different phobias or physical situations and shouldn't be, in any way, confused with religious beliefs. So two separate problems. It seems like you have a pretty good handle on how to deal with this and although I was no help at all, I'm glad you got some more adult responses. (hangs his head in shame and slouches away)

Good luck and have a good time.

I'm not going to get wrangled into a discussion on religion and levels of devoutness..

My wife has problems with it, end of story..

It's more about her perception that by participating in it, she's accepting of it.. etc, etc.. It's a whole thing..

And if we're talking religion and harbouring hatred, that's just......... 'said I wasn't going to get drawn in.. LOL

Did I sound confused?

Maybe WDW is not the best place for her!

It's a pretty tight corner she's painted herself into, no mistake..

But majority rules, and we're going as a family..

Well, I would expose your kids to every ride and attraction, and let her stay back if she wants to.

While there may be some attractions she'll be okay with, magic is a huge part of WDW. She may have a more enjoyable time relaxing at the hotel, going to the spa, and touring the resorts rather than going to the parks, particularly Magic Kingdom.

She may enjoy the walking trails and safari at Animal Kingdom, if she likes animals.

We'll play this by ear.. If she wants to hang back at the hotel, she's more than welcome.. Epcot, HS, and AK should be our safest bets..

Regarding Pele, they brought back the old, original Tiki Room and I don't recall seeing Pele when we went there a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't she part of the Iago/Zazu version that has been retired from WDW?

Dining is also a huge part of going to WDW. I'm sure a fun restaurant would also help her experience. Check out the restaurant board if you haven't already!

Yes, thanks, we're on the Quick Dining Plan, and going over all the stuff to eat is driving us nuts!! It all looks so good..

Not looking forward to Disney 'coffee' though..

But we're getting off topic.. LOL

That's true. I haven't been in it since they remodeled it and I can't recall the exact show when we were in Disneyland. You could always ask the CM before going in.
