Great to hear from you Cherie. Sorry your burns are hurting now.

Hope your trip home goes well for you and then you can relax again.

Oh, before the 2 weeks are up our plans might have changed back Cherie!!!

The drive home went fine. I was a little nervous, not only because of the accident but because I was driving an unfamiliar car (my rental). But I'm home now, in my own bed, with the windows open and a nice cool (71º) breeze blowing on me--heavenly!

We will be there at Mousefest and I know LisaG is too. Monica is always there and perhaps Connie can be too. Cherie is at WDW just befoe the Mousefest cruise and is going on the Mousefest cruise but won't be back after. Michelle, I am not sure when she goes home.

We arrive on 29th November and Michelle on 30th. We must all try and meet up.

New plans for me!!! I'm staying on after the cruise to do WDW w/my cousin & her family.  Maybe I can sneak away for a quick meet!

This is what I just sent to my best friend who lives in Norfolk VA (where the Magic will be in dry dock in Sept...) & yes he knows I'm a nut case...:upsidedow

My Dearest James...

My Ship... The Disney Magic... will be coming in for dry dock on Sept 6th... I'd appreciate it if you could be there to meet her as she will be out of sorts being in a new neighborhood, being stripped naked and having strange people feeling her up and down for leaks, etc...

Daily visits are not required, however appreciated, and if you happen to run into John, our head server, please tell him hello and ask him to display his spoon trick for you. Bringing down pizza and wings is appreciated. He's from Scotland and is a jolly fellow - me thinks he likes his brew too...

She is indeed a beautiful vessel and I hope to be back sailing on her to the Carribean very soon...

I appreciate your anticipated answer to my request...

Yours Truely...

Michelle

You ARE a nut case...but an entertaining one!:thumbsup2

The Twilight Zone Suburb of Terror

He spots on another level a store called, "Total Weddings," or something like that.

He says, "Let's go there."

I tell him, "They don't mean our wedding." Nevertheless, he goes running off (well he has his cane, so he actually goes hobbling off). I trot after him.

We do not (thankfully) go into the store, but stand in the doorway mouths agape. It is filled with (OK, this is our opinion) the most hideous collection of of wedding dresses and brides maids gowns, in the most hideous colors imaginable.

It made me think that a derange milliner stuffed themselves with bolts, and bolts, and bolts of garrish taffeta and then threw-up.

Sounds exactly like that movie, "27 Dresses"!:lmao: :lmao:

Oh, one more thing ... we don't collect pins, buttons or celebrate Christmas ... so here's what I have on offer:

2 Doorway to Dreams Pins

2 Doorway to Dreams buttons

1 Doorway to Dreams ornament (flat metal, snowman with Mickey ears about 2" by 1" in red velvet drawstring bag).

Sorry, I'm keeping the luggage tags :goodvibes

I'll take the pins!!!! :worship: :worship: :worship: Thanks! I can get them from you in September.

Are you using the neck cooler Michelle and her mother made for Fish Extender gifts? (Oh, yes, Planky too.....)

That reminds me, Michelle--I wore your neck cooler at DL last week and also the other day in Phoenix. Dylan was in a swim meet and we were out in the heat for about 2.5 hours. It really helped!

Sitting at a hospital in Van Nuys.

My dad had back surgery on Wednesday and the procedure went well.

However, something is not right and dad is not good. His Parkinson's makes things worse.

The Panama trip was a wonderful trip for us and though we didn't actually meet many of you onboard (we did meet quite a few people!) coming back here and reading brings back fond memories of all the planning and sharing everyone did for over a year prior to the trip.

Thank you for taking my mind off things I don't have a say in.

OK, now to try to get motivated again. A couple months ago, I moved our small kitchen table into a part of our living room that's right in front of our big front window because Tyler and I both thought it would be nice to eat with the windows open and watch the birds and/or squirrels and have fresh air. And the previous homeowner used that area for a dining room anyway, so it made sense. So that left an empty corner in my kitchen. In my bedroom, I had a large microwave cart that really is supposed to be used as an island, but my kitchen is too small, and when we moved in and put the kitchen table in the kitchen, it was definitely too small for the microwave cart, so it went into my bedroom to store it until I figured out what to do with it. SO.....now that the kitchen table is out of the way, I finally moved the microwave cart into the kitchen.

Now I have to figure out what to do with the crap in my bedroom that I had piled on top of the cart. And later, will have to actually move my microwave onto it and that will clear up a bit of counter space. Took me this long and I still haven't even actually CLEANED one room yet! :headache:

Well your day seems to have been quite productive actually. You got the grass cut too you know!

What a great trip! I'm sure that the folks living on the east coast can give you some great advice.

Have you ever been up the eastern seaboard before?

No, but I have fancied a trip for years. We have been to NY, Boston and some areas that way.

The Twilight Zone Suburb of Terror

After Sukie got home from the library, we sat and looked at each other, trying to figure out what to do.

We decided to drive out to the northwest suburbs, to Schaumburg, to go to Woodfield Mall, which I hear tell is among the largest malls in the US. It also has the DVC, Doorway to Dreams the only Disney DVC sales office located outside of Disney property.

I have to preface that we almost never go out that way. We are really more north shore people, preferring Evanston, etc. (Those of you who know Chicago, know that there is a HUGE difference between "the north shore" and the northwest suburbs."

So, we climb into Mrs. Fezziwig, turn on the GPS and head out.

We get there and immediately I become confused by the parking arrangements. The parking lot goes all around the perimeter and is larger than Lincoln Square.

I was really lucky and saw a family about to climb into their car and thus open up a space for us ... There they stand, frozen like statues ... no move to get into the car. We realize that they are staring at Mrs. Fezziwig.

We finally get the space, which is right near Nordstroms, which in turn is right near the DVC Doorway to Dreams.

We mosey into the DVC store and ask for a tour of the model villas.

Let me say right off the bat, that the Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas are beautiful. Probably the best that DVC has done. The models are set with a "balcony and there's a huge photographic mural of the savannah at AKL.

The place is empty, so they ask us to sit down and make ourselves comfy in the living room, and get us some cans of diet coke.

There's the WDW resort station playing on the flat screen TV.

Sukie and are are wondering if it might be possible to lock the staff out and move in for the week, and pretend we're in WDW.

We then get dragged into an office for a chat, while they get us a bag of goodies.

There really isn't a sales pitch because it's DVC and they are always easy going. Sukie and I agree that for our week in WDW when we go on the September cruise we'll stay at AKV.

The bag of goodies they gave us was VERY nice. A hard-bound "Dream Book", Doorway to Dreams Mouse Ears, pins, buttons, luggage tags and a metal Christmas tree ornament.

Having our fix of Disney we proceed through the mall with our bag of goodies ... This is where this adventure takes a scary turn.

People keep staring at Sukie. He doesn't look any different than he usually does, in fact, most of what he's wearing came from Target, but they are staring.

Sukie is a little put off by all this staring. It is at these points in time, that I fear what will come out of his mouth.

He spots on another level a store called, "Total Weddings," or something like that.

He says, "Let's go there."

I tell him, "They don't mean our wedding." Nevertheless, he goes running off (well he has his cane, so he actually goes hobbling off). I trot after him.

It made me think that a derange milliner stuffed themselves with bolts, and bolts, and bolts of garrish taffeta and then threw-up.

There was a wedding dress (complete with we think a hoop underneath) that was in black and silver.

Keep in mind now that the mall is packed.

Sukie points at the black and silver monstrosity and in a loud voice says, "That's a wedding dress!? That looks more like something you would wear to Joan Collins funeral!"

Well, if people weren't staring before they certainly were now. We were doubled up laughing.

The rest of the adventure was somewhat tamer, though people did continue to stare.

On the bright side, I did find the socks I had in mind for our wedding ensembles.

You ae hilarious!!! I would have so loved to have been shadowing you two there.:lmao:

I HAVE DIBBS ON THE XMAS ORNAMENT!!!!!! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

I had no chance.

We spent last Friday in St Augustine and loved it!! Lots to do there.

Not sure how interested in US history you are but Phila has a lot to do/see - Liberty Bell, Ben Franklin's House, etc. Not to mention the art gallery where Rocky ran up the steps...

I did have Philadelphia on the list until I read a post on another board asking what to do there. The answer was to get back in your car and head out!!!:confused3 I am really interested in all the historic stuff and famous places. Where we come unstuck is the williamsburg area in Virginia as it is so far away from the Blue Ridge area and seems like a choice of direction. We might just have to fit in both.

Sorry to hear about your father. Hope he is feeling better and all going better this morning.

Missed you, sorry Nan. Are you worrying about anything? That can keep me awake.

Hope you managed to sleep the rest of the night.

We have a huge new idea for our trip next May. Partly John's idea so I am so pleased he is taking more interest because of that.

Our West coast trip has now become East coast!

Plans at the moment, nothing booked as yet.

Fly to Orlando for 2 weeks of fun.
Set off on almost 3 weeks of travelling up the East coast to NY.
Few days in NY.
Sail home on the Queen Mary 2!!

Though it doesn't quite go over our 40th wedding anniversary we can celebrate it on the QM2 if it is within 60 days.

Some thoughts at the moment for places to visit, where we will stay for 2-4 nights.

St Augustine
Savannah
Charleston
Disney Hilton Head
?
?
? all depends on which direction we go up from Hilton Head
Blue Ridge Parkway
Washington DC
?
? Depending on route
New York

Help from East Coast folk will be appreciated.

We should be booking crossings in about 2 weeks.

We can help with the DC part. You are welcome to stay with us if you would like to. Bethany Beach is also really nice in May!!

I did wonder about going to look at Bethany Beach since you and Deb love it so.

Thanks for the offer of a room too - we will bear that in mind.

We have such a lot of planning to do. :headache:

OMG that sounds WONDERFUL. You MUST spend some time in Savanna and Charleston ::yes:: (Charleston is absolutely beautiful and Savanna is on my wish list...so go for me.) St. Augustine can just be a day visit I think. I'd also recommend a stop in DC (a place I think EVERY American should visit) and anyone else who can get there. Besides, there is no way Lisa would allow you to pass by without stopping. ;)

.

My brother and Sister-in-law live in Charleston SC....so I can give lots of advice there as well.

Well, I still have to lug our suitcases back up into the attic. I hate going up there, but I guess while I'm at it, I can take the boxes of winter clothes up there too.

I definitely need to buy some storage units because I can't figure out where to put all the stuff piled on my bed. I want to just shove it all in a big box to get it out of the way. But first......time to stop to eat! I think Subway is calling my name!

DO NOT GET A STORAGE UNIT!! Throw the Stuff away.

It was cold in Church this morning, and it was sunny outside! Such a cold N wind!! Everybody is so fed up with the weather here.

I did see Nan at church - she has put weight on though!;)

This week I have also seen Cork, Kathe and Jackie.

We have a whole suite, very private....that is where Vanessa lived. Private bath .... you will love my kids!!

The Bethany CAM is still down :confused3 :confused3 , but as I sit here on my porch in Bethany right now...I must say it is one of the most beautiful places on earth.

We are 3 blocks from the beach.....but if you wanted ocean front, there is plenty of spots here!! I am sure Deb would come down to visit too!!

By the way, where is Deb....I hope she is okay?? Does anyone have her e-mail address??

You must be on a blackberry or iphone....When Frank was so sick and in hospital, I would read this site on my blackberry...it really helped.

I hope your dad is okay....it amazes me how much they can do today...

For those who are worrying, I had a PM from Deb and she and John are away for the weekend visiting an ill relative. She is feeling down so I know would appreciate your love and hugs too.

Oh, I know, I did that a couple months ago with things I haven't used in a year. But these are things I use regularly, such as envelopes, batteries, battery chargers, various computer disks, USB storage thingies, bingo daubers, etc. Things I use, but have no place to put them the days I don't use them. My bedroom has a bed, with 2 layers of drawers underneath for my clothes, but that's it. Everything else just lies around on the floor.

Oh! I know what would work. One of those 3 drawer plastic thingies. Tyler has a bunch of them in his room for toys and they're wonderful. That's what I need to get....problem solved.
