I traipsed the 1/2 mile home from the train today on the icy streets. It wasn't all that bad.
I did have a rather interesting experience in the elevator today at work (keep in mind it was snowing, and icy and slushy out).
I go down to the lobby with a colleague to Caribou Coffee to get a nice warm bevvy.
We get on the elevator, for a moment it's the two of us, and two women. They've come in from the street and are bundled up.
Then a guy gets on the elevator, in a light jacket, shorts, barefoot, wearing cheap rubber flip-flops.
I mean not only is it cold out, but there is a lot of slush. I can't imagine the ice and snow, not to mention how caustic the ice melter is that that spread on the streets.
He gets off the elevator on a floor before ours and I mumbled in a stage whisper, "I think they invented shoes in around 500 BC." The two women broke up.
We are still endeavoring to keep our heat down, so tonight I think it is time for our fluffy, polar fleece footie pajamas.
