Just three more weeks until I cruise under the Verrazano Bridge on the Magic in 5122. I'm getting so excited, but feel like I should be packed already and I haven't even off loaded the Hawaii suitcases yet. I have to bring cold clothes not tropical ones for this cruise. I better get busy.....empty suitcase, do laundry, pack. I'm exhausted.

Well.. the QM just got hit in the head by her high school yearbook!! (1950...) (she was putting the wrapping paper back in the closet..) Now she's sitting being nostalgic.. or about to draw mustaches on all the pics of my dad and my step mother...

We were wait-listed on the September DVC Member cruise and got a cabin so are kind-of last minute cruising here. Two days on CC and one at sea on a four day DREAM cruise out of Port Canaveral.

As the FaceBook people know my Mom passed away Aug 18. I drove to upstate New York--13 hours --on my own on her 90th birthday Aug 24 which i figure she was celebrating with her Mother, my Dad and her baby son. Her funeral the next day was done by my niece's husband, a Presbyterian Pastor. They brought their almost 3 year old daughter and my son brought his wife and almost 4 year old. It was great to see the little girls play.

I spent Sunday working with my sister and brother to sort things and continued helping him a couple days longer. I visited my BFF, a 100 year old friend and am now with the same son and his family. Tom will fly in tomorrow for a two day visit and we drive home on Labor Day, Monday.

As some of you know, Mom had been in full time care for Alzheimer's for nearly 6 years and we had mourned as she faded away. Now she is gone and we miss her but know she is whole again.

Restaurants can be a problem on Christmas day. Most resorts and more high end restaurants offer special holiday meals (often buffet/fixed price) and should be booked in advance. I know here in Phoenix many chain restaurants (Chili's, Applebee's) are CLOSED as are some of the fast food chains, which ones seem to change year to year. And all local/family owened/operated restaurants are closed.

I suggest posting this question on facebook, as there will be a broader base of FL people to answer your question (plus I'll tag my FL friends on it for their feedback too).

Which Celebrity ship will you be on? Is it a Solstice class ship. That's the one we will be experimenting with in 2013 (the Eclipse).

Thanks Jackie....I can't wait to go on it. We're doing a winery tour in Halifax NS and a river boat ride in St John NB. And we have one sea day before and one sea day after the ports. We're doing Palo dinner and brunch, one on each sea day. We're having a pink non champagne girls gathering in Diversions with men included. All should wear pink. John will be wearing his Hawaiian pink shirt. Other than that, we're just going to relax and soak in the scenery. I'm excited to get back onboard the Magic. John and I realized that the last time we were on her was the PC crossing in 08. That's way too long to be off of our favorite ship.

Jackie thanks. I will pass that info on. I won't bother with Facebook as really it is a friend of a friend and to be honest they should be searching themselves but i like to help when I can, but enough is enough!!!

It is one of the older smaller ships I think, the Constellation. Apparently it has been 'Solsticized" a couple of years ago which basically meant colour scheme changes and one or two other changes. The Constellation and the Eclipse were the 2 which went from the UK. I wanted to do a cruise a couple of weeks later on the Eclipse which went further south to the Canary Islands so should be warmer weather, but it was more money than this one.

I am so looking forward to it.

I would say that things work pretty much the same way in PA on a holiday. Gas stations and drug stores will be open. But the only place you can go to for dinner is a resort or hotel restaurant and it's buffet and it's book in advance. Just like Jackie said, everything else is closed.

I can't wait for your cruise either. I want you to come back and tell us all about it.

I'm so jealous.....that's the cruise I really want to do. But it's way to expensive to do DCL and not as many good ports. I will be anxious to hear how you like Royal Caribbean and this itinerary. It sounds perfect!

You have been quite the busy lady this summer. Keep your mom's memories strong and she will always be in your heart. I still miss my mom every day and it was five years just last month. Keep your faith and your spirit strong and you will find peace. HUGS!!!!!!!!!
