So glad you're finally able to travel!!!

Hopefully you will coming to our shores again soon! :goodvibes

It is a shame you couldn't get away for a long weekend at least and have a change of scenery. It does make a difference to everything. I did managed a short visit to Carolyn's about 9 miles away and that is as far as I have been since getting home last November but it really hasn't felt as bad as I thought it would. We were meant to be trying to get to our son's which would be an hour and half or so to try and build up distance for me but we couldn't get a mutually convenient date. Hopefully they will have their new baby soon so we will get over then but if not it will be straight into a 250 mile car journey to get on the ship!! Mind you then I can relax as much as I want.

Hopefully we can get out to California early next year. The QM wants to meet her newest little great granddaughter!!! princess:

We are cruising out of the UK down to France, Spain and one stop in Portugal. It is Celebrity, 12 nights, and was a good price plus no airfares. Funny thing is it is called an Immersive Wine Cruise, so the ports are all near wine producing areas. Funny because I can't drink of course, but we wanted a relaxing cruise this time and if most others are off tasting wine we can enjoy being onboard! 3 ports they are overnighting in which I wasn't as keen on as I love being out at sea but I think that is why it was such a reasonable price. So, we upped to a small suite. The small suite aren't separate rooms like the ones on DCL but are bigger and of course have a few perks. We just thought that as it was going to be more relaxing then we may as well make the surroundings nice.

We couldn't book a cruise until I was discharged from the specialist and could get travel insurance, plus I had to feel well enough of course which will always be a bit of a gamble anyway.

We are really looking forward to it. I have been a little busy sorting clothes as the climate is different to what we usually cruise in but should be warm unless a cold or wet front moves in. So probably not shorts and strappy tops though I will take a couple of each!!! It looks like the evening dress code is a little more dressy but that is fine by me. Also, no smoking on balconies as well as indoors!!

Oh that is so very fabulous!!!! I'm sooooooo happy for you to be able to cruise again. Celebrity is a great line from what I have heard. You will have a fantastic time. Naturally, we want to hear all about it when you return.

Now get packing.....you only have one more month.....hahaha.

the QM is back to her QM-ness!!!

She's thinking of baking cookies for the EMT's... she though of brownies.. but we don't want to tempt snow... :rotfl:

We are going to night to see the Best Marigold Hotel at the Scotia One plex.

So happy you feel able to dip your toes back in the water - baby steps.

Deb, are you and John packed and ready to go?! :cool1:

Well you KNOW that I'm packed and ready....I just have to do the make up bag, jewelry and bathroom bag. Then I'm finished. John still has to do his laundry and pack. He always waits until the day before. Not me. I take longer to do it so I start earlier.

We have nine more days still. So I'm happy that I'm doing well with my progress in getting ready. Now I have to watch and delete some shows from my DVR. I only have 50% available and I'm leaving for five nights. But I've been too busy watching the Big Brother Live Feeds. It's a great season.

So happy to hear the positive progress of the QM. Glad she's back to her normal self again. Enjoy the baking and the show.

A friend from the UK has asked me if I know if shops and family friendly restaurants will be open on Christmas Day. They will be in Fort Myers. I said shops no but I thought most restaurants would be open, particularly as it is a tourist area. I also suggested googling for nice restaurants and booking for that day.

Am I correct there?

Restaurants can be a problem on Christmas day. Most resorts and more high end restaurants offer special holiday meals (often buffet/fixed price) and should be booked in advance. I know here in Phoenix many chain restaurants (Chili's, Applebee's) are CLOSED as are some of the fast food chains, which ones seem to change year to year. And all local/family owened/operated restaurants are closed.

I suggest posting this question on facebook, as there will be a broader base of FL people to answer your question (plus I'll tag my FL friends on it for their feedback too).

Which Celebrity ship will you be on? Is it a Solstice class ship. That's the one we will be experimenting with in 2013 (the Eclipse).

MICHELLE, so glad the QM is up and galavanting around with you! Love that word...galavanting....

Deb....can't wait to hear all about your cruise!

.

Jackie thanks. I will pass that info on. I won't bother with Facebook as really it is a friend of a friend and to be honest they should be searching themselves but i like to help when I can, but enough is enough!!!

It is one of the older smaller ships I think, the Constellation. Apparently it has been 'Solsticized" a couple of years ago which basically meant colour scheme changes and one or two other changes. The Constellation and the Eclipse were the 2 which went from the UK. I wanted to do a cruise a couple of weeks later on the Eclipse which went further south to the Canary Islands so should be warmer weather, but it was more money than this one.

I am so looking forward to it.

Well.. the QM just got hit in the head by her high school yearbook!! :rotfl: (1950...) (she was putting the wrapping paper back in the closet..) Now she's sitting being nostalgic.. or about to draw mustaches on all the pics of my dad and my step mother... :rotfl2::rotfl2:
