Glad you're both keeping well :thumbsup2 How has Tyler settled in to school this year?

Sounds like you're having fun preparing for Halloween :maleficen

We haven't decided whether Serenity will go out to a couple of houses or not yet. We don't really want her to have the candy, and we aren't apt to sneak it away from her very easily...she watches everything going on like a hawk these days and has a pretty good memory! Not sure if she'll be scared of the kids in costumes either. She got a doll that crawls for her birthday...every time she sees the "baby" she shreeks and runs to hide! We thought she would love it :sad2:

That's so funny about Serenity and the doll! ;)

School is going OK, he's doing much better academically than ever before , but the physical stuff is still a problem, primarily in the after school child care where they're just not equipped to deal with him. The head of that program told me yesterday that she's going to talk with the special ed teacher and his aide to get some tips on handling him. He's close to being suspended from the child care. Long story short, 2 major incidents this week where they had to clear out the classroom to keep the other kids safe from him, and if he has one more explosion he'll be suspended because Tyler hurt a boy yesterday pretty badly. :sad2:

We recently reduced the morning dose of one of his meds and I suspect it's just wearing off by the afternoon because the majority of his issues are happening in the afternoon. So starting yesterday, we're having the school give him his afternoon dose at noon, hoping that getting it into his body earlier will help reduce the frequency and severity of the explosions.

Kathe - glad you and son feel better.

Deb - one step at time and before you know it you'll be racing!

Change of plans - the couple that we are traveling with has made us cancel our plans. Not their fault but we are now in Birmingham. The husband had to be hospitalized here and will be having open heart surgery tomorrow or the next day. We haven't missed a game in about 20 years but this is a good reason for us not to continue on to New Orleans.

Hope all goes well with the surgery. And it is definitely a good reason to miss the game.

I'd better head over to FB and see what Tyler was doing today with all my fish aquariums! :rotfl2: We both played hookey today. No good reason, just for the heck of it and to give him a break of not being in trouble for just a day. I didn't tell him that because I don't want him to associate being in trouble with a day off the next day, definitely don't want to reward that, so I just told him I had one of my migraines and that my head hurt too badly to drive him to school. ;) It's a good thing I really did NOT have a headache because he wanted us to work on the kindergarten Hooked on Phonics stuff ALL DAY LONG. He's doing it, but it's such a challenge for him. Even the repetitive stuff is hard for him. There were strings of words that all rhyme, and I would have to remind him on every single word that it rhymes with the ones before it and that all we're doing is changing the first letter and it's just such a hard concept for him to get. For example, we'd very slowly get through pig, wig, big, fig, and he'd get stuck on dig. He'd start guessing and saying "dog, log. flag, go, stop, play", etc. He would get so frustrated and keep trying until he's crying while trying to get a particular word, but would refuse to stop and take a break. If I tried to force him to take a break, he'd go nutso and have a fit about it. I'm really glad he's so determined, but wanted to PULL ALL MY HAIR OUT! He wanted to do this ALL DAY LONG.

Holly, I'm glad the academics are going well! I hope you can get the med dose back to where it needs to be soon. It must be such a hard balance to find. Sending hugs and pixie dust you both have a better day tomorrow

Good night all! Hope to be back soon.

That's not SO scary... :lmao: :lmao:

Hi Holly!!! I hope you and Tyler have been keeping well! There seems to be sickness all over our continent :headache:

well... YOU people brought back the Cabo crud... or was it the Tortola sniffles??? :rolleyes1

Hi Kathe! So far we're both fine. It's rare for either of us to get sick. H1N1 has been confirmed in his school, so that will probably come home with him. I've never had the flu and sure don't want it. Yuck. He had it once and seeing what it did to him was bad enough.

Up here they are calling it the Heine virus... (as in your behind...:rotfl2:)

I carved one of our pumpkins tonight and did not enjoy it. Tyler wanted the headless horseman from a book of pumpkin patterns we have. It was soooooo hard but turned out great, fortunately. Baking pumpkin seeds right now. House smells like garlic....yum! I did them in garlic butter. :goodvibes Not healthy, but pumpkin seeds are really high in fiber, so hopefully that counterbalances all the butter a tad! ;)

Um... not really, but enjoy them in little bunches... don't forget to count... :upsidedow

Kathe - glad you and son feel better.

Ohh Gydell... sorry to hear about your friend... Prayers and pixie dust coming your way!!

You could have your own little halloween party and if any of your neighbors would like to help... you could get some small gifts (stickers, etc) that she could collect and get in a few trick or treats... (raisins are good too at that age...)

Marilyn - when do find out if you are stuck doing jury duty?

Deb & John - you two are so sweet

Nan - is Molly doing better?

Gydell - hope your friend is doing okay.

Kathe - great pics, and sorry you & Brian got sick.

Holly - hopefully changing the time for his med will help Tyler get back on track.

I'm happy that my workplace has finally announced the schedule changes, and that so far, I'm not directly affected. I've lost my Christmas bonus for the last couple of years, but the hourly employees are now getting their hours cut back and will all be losing about $10,000/yr off their salaries since the plant is moving to a reduced schedule. And there's a few positions that will be lost. Overall it makes for a tense workplace this week. And makes me happy to be in the job I'm in since I'm safe.:sad2:

Gydell, I'm so sorry to hear of your departure from your game plans...especially for something like heart surgery:sad2: Prayers for safe hands for surgery and a quick recovery.

Hey Shannon!!!

Sorry it's tough at work... but at least you are ok...

Michelle, I love it, the Hienie! :lmao:

And raisins are a great halloween treat! Kaleigh & I eat the little boxes of raisins all year (I keep buying them!)

Speaking of Halloween, we're giving out Disney themed little card games. (plus some small candies!) I've also seen mini-playdoh sets that my kids really liked last year.

Wow Shannon, I'm glad your job is safe. Scary times for your workplace. I can't imagine losing $10,000/year.

Have to get to bed, have to get up in 6 hours, but before I go.....some fun news! I put all the details on FB and am too tired to repeat it here, but Tyler won 4 tickets to go see Disney's Rockin' Roadshow soon!!! He also won donuts and ice cream and something else that I can't remember. Trivia question for kids on the radio, what did Thomas Edison invent on today's date in whatever year, Tyler knew it, I dialed and handed the phone to him when the guy answered. :goodvibes

The initial info said to turn up at the courts at 9.30am on Monday 23rd Novermber and the jury will be chosen then. I have read of others having to phone the night before to see if they are needed, but as that would be a Sunday I'm quite sure that won't happen.

Wooohooo Tyler.:thumbsup2 Facebook won't let me post at the moment!!

So I got these in the mail yesterday for Alaska:

John said, "Are you kidding me, I thought that you were joking." I told him that a lady never jokes about coordinating her outfits. I'm wearing these to the Champagne Girls on the Alaska cruise. I'm not kidding.

Then I'm going to purchase this velvet with satin trim wrap for formal night on the Alaska cruise.

Come on people the clock is ticking...only 1 1/2 years until this cruise. Gotta get organized and start planning.....hahahaha.:laughing::laughing:

I just figure that if I start buying one item at a time now I should be good to go when the time gets here....that and any excuse to shop for cruises.:lmao::lmao::lmao:
