BOY - you guys sure did go to town this weekend with the chatting, didn't you??? Finally got caught up w/ the 30+ pages on this thread, after I finished off the old.

Loved all the pics!

Lisa - how are MaryAnn & the baby?

No time to read any posts, just have to post something exciting!

Bad news: Tyler's friend and her mom won't be joining us for our Disney trip.

Good news: That leaves more time for us to spend with Tyler's Florida girlfriend and family.

Bad news: The pay 4 days get 3 free is based on 4 people.

Good news: It's cheaper to book for us 2 for 7 days on our own at Pop Century, and that includes the park hopper pass instead of just one park per day.

BETTER news: Heather and Tom (ThreeBritts) are looking at the cost of us staying together and they found a cabin at Ft. Wilderness to be even LOWER than what I'd pay for me and Tyler at Pop Century booking direct through Disney!

I'd LOVE to stay in a cabin, and so would Tyler because he's into outdoorsy stuff. This keeps getting better and better! :yay:

Things just keep getting better!!!:thumbsup2

Update on Dad - he's all marked up now so that the beams go where they're supposed to go. He hopes to start the actual radiation on the 11th.

He has decided to go w/ me on the Baltic cruise (he didn't want me to go solo -- not cuz he's worried about me, but more for the experience)....he's an adult so I can't make that decision for me. He & I will meet up at Dulles then fly to London on the same flight. He will stay in London 4 more days after I leave.

Monica,

That's great news that your father will go with you on the cruise. What a wonderful opportunity for you both.

I am formally out of my old role and have started my new job today.

Today is the first time in nearly 4 years that I have been at work and have not been all stressed out to the breaking point.

On a much sadder note, I'm actually having difficulty functioning without the stress. Almost like I'm going through withdrawal from a drug.

I know what you mean, Ian. When things get quieter here, I don't know how to behave!

You'll start to enjoy not having the stress soon ;)

Do you think it'll keep you interested?

He & I travel well together - I'll just need to keep an eye on him so that he doesn't over do it.

I think the new job has the potential to be very very interesting. It's really up to me to create my own role and define my responsibilities.

Monica, I think it's GREAT that your dad is going with you on the Baltic. You'll have a wonderful time making memories.

....lunch break over...back to the salt mines........

.

No, you are hardly on during the my real day anyway!! Did a day off help?

Well, I have officially been diagnosed by Dr. Mom as being sick.... So my aches and pains from the last few days have now been approved... I wonder if I get sick pay...

Olivia go to Brownies every Tuesday... wonder if Brownies need penpal patches? just thought...

Anyway, Haggis? or shortbread would be easy...or Edinburgh Rock, Scotland Fudge....

Scottishwee35

I vote for girl scout cookies... they have the shortbread cookies, don't they?

Very cool!!! I think they would LOVE Fort Wilderness... there is so much to see and do there in addition to the parks. Don't forget the nightly campfire/movie with Chip and Dale...

Take a deep breath and enjoy the calm... I'm sure you will be busy again very soon. :thumbsup2

thanks Jan. It has been big news here in CA. Sadly, education is at the bottom of the funding list. Our state government offices are also on furlough, closing 2 Fridays a month.

In past adminstrations it seems that the budget just hung out there and these issues did not get addressed. At least Arnie is keeping them front and center in the news by his drastic measures.

Not sure what the real solution is. If we don't have to the money something has to give.

Our state budget is so large I can't even begin to think about it :sad2:

I was doing some research and accidentally stumbled across some financial information that made my mouth drop.

We know that Disney has said that they are feeling the economic situation right?

Well the following is the price today for Six Flags common stock: $0.32

Yes, that is not a mistake, it's trading for 32 cents a share.

FINALLY a stock I can afford... I wonder if you buy the One Stock certificate do they put it in a manilla envelope or is it a postcard??? The postage is more than the stock...

:wave2: Roomie!!

The DIS stock last week was where it was after 9/11 when I bought my measly 10 shares (but atleast I can say I'm a stock holder :rotfl: )

HEY EVERYONE!!!!

Just popping on my afternoon coffee break!

Thanks Marilyn and Deborah for some feedback on easy food.
Michelle - no shortbread girl guide cookies up here. Only chocolate mint in the fall, and traditional chocolate and vanilla in the spring.

Deborah - Shaelyn's level doesn't have a penpal badge, but the next level up does.

Monica - sounds like you and your Dad will have a fun trip together!

Holly - sounds like you are getting excited about your trip!

Ian - stress withdrawal won't last long. You'll adjust and enjoy! Was Sukie feeling better today?

YIKES! 34 pages into a new thread???? Well, I'm here, better late than never.:goodvibes

It's snowing here today, very gray and cold. I have a pot of beans and ham simmering on the stove and no place I have to go...life is good!:thumbsup2

I met with my lawyer today and got my new will, POA and living will all signed. It feels good to have that all taken care of. Not that I foresee it being necessary any time in the near future, but you never know! :scared1: Being single and having some assets, it seemed a prudent thing to do.

Guess I'll go back now and see what everyone's been chatting about....
