After I posted about the baby shoes, I had to go see if Stride Rite, were still in business, they are! That company must be about 1000 years old. I think Mary Todd Lincoln's mother bought her first pair of baby shoes from Stride Rite.

In my day, they were heathy orthopedic type shoes. I remember that in the first grade, each shoe weighed about 150 pounds each, and I think in place of leather soles they had planks of wood.

I think my mother had to start putting my shoes on me the night before, to allow enough time to get me laced into them. My father assured us that we would have good feet and good posture, even if it would kill us.

OMG, you just described to a T the shoes I wore all the way until Jr. High! I guess it was that era. I HATED those shoes! And I loved your baby pics. I still have to go back to the old thread and see all the ones I missed over there.

Ian - stress withdrawal won't last long. You'll adjust and enjoy! Was Sukie feeling better today?

Thank you for asking. He's a bit better, not much though. He still seems a bit out of it.

I think that those of us from a certain post war generation were tormented with heavy, ugly, inflexible foot wear.

Here was what I think parents in those days used to buy footwear for us:

1. Is is uncomfortable? If yes, then it's good for them.

2. Is is heavy? If yes, then it's good for them.

3. Is is inflexible? If yes, then it's good for them.

4. Is is ugly? Even better.

5. Is is does the child hate it? then it must be good for them.

There is NO WAY I can even try to keep up with this thread.

I am still sick, but I think I am on the mend; at least I worked yesterday and today. Although I slept all afternoon after I got home!

Hey did anyone start playing that www.mycoke.com game I was talking about.

I won $20 yesterday and I won another $20 tonight.....

I tried to set it up, but it takes a long time and then froze my computer, maybe I'll try again later...

One more thought before I go to bed...

I am going to be in the delivery room with MaryAnn....when ever the baby comes.

I have never done this (except my own babies).....I think it will be awesome.

Has anyone done this with someone else??

My sister and sister-in-law (by marriage) were with me both times. Paul was a little put off by it with Willie. He kinda felt like he was useless.

Is her husband going to be there???

Connie, rest and feel better

Mom is responsible for the haircut and NO I don't have a black eye... (it's an old picture...) I went up to mom and said I couldn't find the picture... she turned around and grabbed it off the frame on her dresser and said "this one..." :headache:

Now that is cute!!

Not that the others of Michelle and everyone else were not, but I was wondering what was so bad about this one. Tinkerbell pixie haircut--nice.

:wave2: Roomie!!

The DIS stock last week was where it was after 9/11 when I bought my measly 10 shares (but atleast I can say I'm a stock holder :rotfl: )

HOW :confused3 and WHERE  did you buy it? All I can find is the $19 per share plus $38 for extras on a website where you get a framed certificate. Did you get certificates or statements? It is something I have long wanted but never could justify that price.

Jan

The stock closed today at $19.44 per share. You can buy stock through any trading company, and request that the certificate be sent directly to you.

I think the cost through an online broker is about $6 or $7 a trade.

So I've learned very quickly that some people just do NOT look good in HD and on a big screen! :rotfl2: I'm seeing details I wish I'd never seen! :lmao:

You can play twice a day

It will say CHECK YOUR EMAIL if you lose.

It will say YOU ARE A WINNER if you win!!

Daniel loves getting this free money!! (I send them to his address!!)

Oh, that reminds me, I need to go play today! I'm going to try to remember every day. Thanks for telling us about it! How long is this going on?

Very cool!!! I think they would LOVE Fort Wilderness... there is so much to see and do there in addition to the parks. Don't forget the nightly campfire/movie with Chip and Dale...
Yup, they've stayed there before and have told me some about it, plus I've read lots on the DIS, and Connie's pics when they stayed there at Christmas. I know Tyler would just love it! I'm waiting to hear back from her on this.

Thanks Jan... I'm getting used to it... 44 years later... :rotfl:

No prob Jan... we need to celebrate things like that!!!

The bag of batteries that I put them all in when I took them out of Christmas stuff when I put that stuff away.

Well... at least it was an appropriate place/item you removed it from... ;) ;)
