I hope you can find her something appropriate. My friends who are in the full range of care facilities have freedom and independence. One lives in a little house but has no responsibility for the yard work. The other couple has an apartment in a big building. Meals are available but each unit has its own kitchen also. The one they are in is called "Westminster Village North" and is run by "Presbyterian Homes". Maybe an internet search?

You could start your search at the Hunter's Creek facility and see what they know.

Best wishes,
Jan :earsgirl:

Yes, actually, I am familiar with that type of place, we had a nice one in Sterling, IL called Coventry Village. I am sure we have oe here in Orlando area, but I think they are too far away. She needs to be withing 15 or 20 miles of my house, so she can run back and forth. She still drives, of course. She manages fust fine the trip from here to Bradenton, and that's almost 2 hours on the interstate! But it tires her out.

WE'll figure something out. She still wants to go back to her own place in Bradenton til she sells her mobile there, but I don't want her to. WE;ll see......

Woody, how was the performance? Hope you enjoyed it. I hope we can experience some new entertainment next Sept/09. Should we send them some suggestions?

Kathe

Lea Salonga was excellent.

She even sang one of Mrs. Woody's favorite songs, "Taylor the Latte Boy."
(We first watched it performed by Susan Egan on the '05 EB PC repo.)
Kristin Chenoweth, whom we saw in '06, also does a version.

Hi Everybody

Good Morning

Hi Deborah, you're up very late! Isn't it midnight for you?

Yes, I was staying late and went to bed about 12.45 am:thumbsup2

After had a bad night at work:mad: I was so frustrated with one staff and I lose my temper at her. She reported to manager and line manager tooked me upstair. I explained him why I was very upset. Fed up with her for LAZY and give me too much work to do. He realised and he think that I have lack of communication:mad:

I came home and had a glass of wine. Feel good to get out of my chest!! :rotfl:

We're leaving early in the morning and boy am I ready! It has been a hell of a week. Tuesday morning I checked in the hospital to have a lump removed from my breast. It turned out ok but boy am I sore!. They put a medal chip in so they can moniter the area - so I figure with my luck I will set the alarms off at the airport in the morning. I have 6 butterfly thingys instead of stitches. At least it is waterproof. Then today our dog was supposed to have surgery but when the vet did the ultrasound he suggested putting him to sleep. So the way things are going this week I hope I don't miss my plane tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a good couple of weeks! I will probably check in, but we are not taking computers with us.

Gydell - maybe you miss it - as you are away on flight now? Anyway, I am glad that you are okay, and sorry about dog. I would like to saying have a lovely trip.

Yellow jackets live in the ground. You may have to treat the ground to get rid of them.

Have you contact counicl (i don't know what usa called it) they will clear it up for you? but they will charge you if you are owner, if rent out - free charge.

He'll be excited to see it. I sure do love making him smile! Oh, I forgot to tell something very cool. Wednesday when I picked him up at school, he told me he had something for me. He pulled out of his backpack a small, flat rock, a little bigger than a quarter, and it's shaped like a heart! He told me he wants me to have it for good luck. So he went to his dad's, then the next day when I picked him up at the school to take him to his appointment, I said, "Guess what's in my pocket?" and showed him I was carrying the lucky rock he gave me. You should have seen his face light up! I sure do love that smile!

What a great Mommy you are! If Tyler had angry, judgmental parents he would have so much more trouble dealing with the world. He is so fortunate to have a Mom who loves and accepts him while trying to help him do better. It is hard to be Tyler some of the time, but knowing how much he is loved has GOT to make a difference when everything else seems to be crashing in on him inspite of himself.

Tyler is blessed.::yes::

Jan :earsgirl:

Yes, true, what a lovely boy you have, Holly:thumbsup2

I've only had my grandaughter in my house for a week and a half and I swear I am ten years younger:) ;) I've been crawling around hoping she'll copy me  Actually, she has started to get up on her knees and rock and is pulling/dragging herself all over the place the last couple of days, she did not do this before moving in, although she was rolling wherever she wanted to go! And she sat up by herself in her crib for the first time yesterday...I think I'm a good influence on her :wizard:
Kathe

Aww :thumbsup2

I NEVER forget to EAT! I might forget other things, oh, maybe I should foget to eat.....that would work!

mmmm try that :rotfl:

Lisa (disneylover) good to heard about Frank and wish go to beach more often here as the weather were terrible here. I wish to have USA weather over here::Yes::

Now I am off to photo shop because I cannot copy photos on my computer which I have 1,300 photos. Only 900 photos on my computer and cannot get over 500 photos on pc:confused3 Give it up and go to shop and ask for copy on disc!!

Did I tell you that I took the lost dog (brown collie) last year and stayed overnight at my house. That dog was very good manner and I phoned Cat and Dog home next day. They came and took it away and told me that they never see that dog before as first time. I feel so guilty and I phoned up again but owner already take him. Oh well, if nobody, claimed it I will take it.

Last Wednesday night, yes the dog came back to our door and guess what he bring the stranger dog well. Two of them (both lovely dogs) but I didn't take them in. I wait and see for a wee while but they gone away. Ah well.

I wish take photos of them but I have photo of brown collie.

I wonder where are they now? Hope they went back home.

Funny that the dog remembered us!!

Connie, I hope everything works out. I moved my father to Chicago and that was very difficult. In our case, my father could no longer live on his own because he had had to undergo the amputation of one of his legs.

He was living in Houston near my sister and elder care down there just was not very good.

I wish you all the best ... this can be a very stressful period, both trying to deal with one's parent's emotions and trying to find some suitable arrangement.

Good morning all!

It has gone awfully quiet on this thread.

The weather here in Chicago is rather miserable, wet and overcast.

I'm just happy that this rather awful week at work is over, though it really seems like very week is awful.

We had a planning session yesterday, and it was very apparent that give the number of due dates thrust upon us and the number of available resources, it was more like fairytale planning than project planning.

I pointed this out.

One of my colleagues replied that we were tasked to figure it out.

My reply was, "Well, we haven't tried quantum physics yet and bending the fabric of time, do you think we can do that by 1:00PM?"

I am just growing weary of so much being piled on, plus our CIO keeps giving me "special project," like now I have to create a corporate intranet, get all the content up on it and launch it by mid-September.

I also grow weary of being told that I am not delegating enough, I am already like Lucy and Ethel in the chocolate factory and have no time to monitor what I've got going on. There simply is no more capacity.

I was so tempted this week, when I was told that I was not delgating enough, to say, "Well I could go down into the train station and start delegating to some of the people in Dunkin Donuts or maybe I can find some homeless people to delegate to."

I thought the better of it and kept my mouth shut.

Deborah, sorry about your bad night at work. I think we all work with somebody like that. We have one at our office who just always looks busy, but somehow never does much work. And when we mention it to our office manager, she says, "Oh, she's just really busy". :headache: NO, she's just slow...and lazy.

Yikes! Well, you're only one person and you can only do what you can do. Maybe if some of the things don't get done, somebody will realize you just can't possibly do it all.

I didn't get up until 10am today! That's very unusual for me. I think my body is just adjusting to the new med. I take it at bedtime and I've been sleeping more soundly than I ever have in my life. Very nice! That's probably just what I need. :goodvibes

Well, it's raining today and supposed to do so all day, so I guess I won't be mowing the back yard today. My mom would say, "Oh, you won't melt, just get it done." ;) But it's no fun trying to push a mower through wet stuff, so I say she's nuts. :thumbsup2 I'm going to take advantage of the wet, dreary day and just lay around reading and watching tv and napping. :goodvibes

Stilll have about 8 pages to catch up on, but wanted to report in.

I did go get checked out yesterday, and we did spinal x-ray and will do an abdonimal ultrasound on Tuesday. My biggest bruise (a lovely shade of purple today--matches my nightgown) is on my side just above the waist, so we want to make sure the kidney and related area is all OK. I was warned that tomorrow will be the day I'm the most sore, so I'm getting the rental car and everything else taken care of today...so maybe I'll just spend tomorrow floating in the pool! I stayed overnight at Peg's again last night, and she's taking VERY good care of me.

Thanks for all the hugs and well wishes. You guys are the best!

Have a wonderful trip! So glad to hear you are OK and so sorry about your dog. Nan is right, it's been a rought time lately for Thieve's pets!

okay I am a little worried about Jackie. When exactly was the accident?? I think last night and she has not posted again....:surfweb:

No worries, just had to run around to the doctor and stuff.

Jackie,

Thank goodness you are OK. What an experience! So, glad you were wearing your seatbelt and were unharmed.

You are very precious cargo.

Funny you should use that term...it's one we use in our family all the time! And   to you for saying so!

I have a question for all of you DL mavins out there. Do I need to rent a car or will it be a complete waste of money?

Keep in mind that I'll have 'wheels' available and at your disposal Sat/Sun/Mon :thumbsup2 Hmmmmmm. I wonder if it will be a re-conditioned Suki (yes, thats my car's name) or another vehicle????

Lisa, so glad to hear Frank is doing well!

.....back to catch up

Glad to hear things are looking good so far, but we'll all rest better when we hear the ultrasound turns out fine too. Very good plan for you to spend tomorrow in the pool! Rest and take care of yourself.

Glad you're alright. Both Sukie and I are much relieved to hear that.

We have one question, what is the fashionable side for people to be wearing their bruises this season? We'd hate to commit a faux pas.

I sent out emails this week to let the users of Mouse Manager know about the podcast I was on.

I sent out over 700 emails (I have a desktop program that does it, it took 3 days).

I suddenly have had a FLOOD of new users registering. I couldn't figure out why. It was because I made the front page news of dvcnews.com

I must have received about 30 or 40 new users in the past 2 days.

Getting sleepy now after filling my belly with soup, so I'm off to read in bed until I fall asleep. Tyler's book is done and ordered. Tomorrow I'm going to try to remember to hang his dolphin encounter pictures in his bedroom before I pick him up. He'll LOVE that! :thumbsup2

Goodnight everybody!

What did he think of the Dolphin pictures in his room?

Is there any way we could see what the book looks like on line?

I wonder if the people at Coventry Village in Sterling would have a suggestion of a place in your vicinity.

Sure would be great if you could find something close that she likes so she is happy, save and nearby! Good luck with that.

::yes:: I bet it is. Lack of sleep might be a contributing factor to the migraines, right?

SO GLAD YOU WENT TO THAT SPECIAL CLINIC!

Around here we have had some advertisements for $4 perscriptions at Walmart and some of the Grocery store pharmacies. I wonder if that could be going on in your area too and if your medications would qualify.

You have Krogers in your area and this is the web ad: http://www.kroger.com/generic/Pages/index.html
