I know. I see Ken and John are friends now. This is crazy! We have to stay in touch now! I can totally see us doing a reunion cruise....but not to Alaska

So you don't think I'm being too pushy? I've actually decided I don't care how mad he gets because this is just ridiculous!
thank you. I'm always open to people telling me I should consider the other perspective, but in this situation, nobody has told me I'm wrong, so I feel OK about finally telling him off!I would do anything the doctor told me to at this point. You can't be too pushy when people's lives are in danger. I think we should call Dr. Phil. Then you can come here for free!

Actually, his dad did mention that he's seen him hurt the dog often and has punched his dad & stepmom lots too. It's only happened with me one time that I can remember for some reason. But it's primarily at school. Every day, in fact (except maybe once a week). And day care. And in the kids' clubs on the cruise. Just in large groups of kids.Does he act like this with his dad? Why doesn't his dad want to help him?
Oh, to answer your other question, he doesn't think there's a need for help other than behavioral therapy. But doctors have already told us that it's out of his control, because it's completely impulsive, because he knows it's wrong and feels so down on himself for not being able to stop himself. that's why he hates himself. But his dad just doesn't get it. Complete denial.Does he act like this with his dad? Why doesn't his dad want to help him?

Yes, both of his dad's sisters took Ritalin until age 18 and both have depression issues now, and one tried twice to commit suicide. That's what he's afraid of, but one doctor tried to tell him things are different now than they were 30 years ago, and Tyler's not the same issue as his sisters. Is there any history in the family of this type of thing? I know you said his dad's sister took some meds.

Thank you, that's exactly what I was trying to tell his dad. The doctors told us meds alone won't help, and all drs. so far say behavioral therapy, occupational therapy, and meds are what Tyler needs because of the severity of all his issues. He does need behavioral therapy and it will help. I had a friend that had a son that did all of the things you have described and he got better with the therapy but they had him on anti-depressants. He didn't have any learning problems, just wanted to hurt people and animals.

My cousin had major aggression issues too, and they put him on Ritalin too because in 1st grade his school said he can't come back until he was medicated. He's 23 or 24 now, but I don't know if he still takes meds for anything because we're not close enough to talk about it. I've actually been meaning to get in touch with him for more details to share with our doctor. And my grandma had major mental issues with major meds, so Tyler has it in his family history for sure.![]()
love it!

I was taking a quick skim through this at work and had to look twice to see what Ken had agreed to do! Then I back tracked and figured it out - Pheww
Holly - sounds like things are extremely stressful, but that you're taking action and managing to stay sane![]()
Now I have to get back to workand I'd really rather go home and have a nap (or do some WiiFit)
