We bought a Wii

If anyone else is still looking run to Target! Ours had a bunch and my sisters in NC too so it seems like probably everywhere got some in.

No Wii Fit yet but I'll keep looking for that too.

Thanks Lisa, got ours today too. I have a friend that works at Circuit City and he put his name on the employee list to try and get one for me. I saw the ad today and though I would just wait until he could get one and that it would be tough to get one at target, but we went to check anyway doubting that there would be any left, and there was quite a few. Next stop was circuit city where they had Mario Kart with the wheel on sale. Only 2 left so was lucky there too. WII fit is next.

There's a sandwich shop I get lunch from about 3 days a week, and I always get the same kind of sandwich, a veggie one with sprouts and guac (and I ask for extra guac)! YUMMMMMMMY!

Any hints and tips? John struggles most of the time but enjoys it. He really is only doing the basic he has to to move on - not getting artefacts etc. I think he might go back later to see if he can do better.

OK, I'm going to share my secrets with all of you "Old" folks (at 50 I must be the oldest video gamer around. I actually have discussions with young people in video game stores).

You can get cheats and walk-thrus (also called walk throughs and FAQs) for free from several different sources.

A word about video games.

I'm a big believer in video games, mainly because I think they are more active and engaging than passive television.

Sukie and I have been playing video games for the past 20 years, ever since our first Super Nintendo.

The Wii is great because it also allows you to move.

We're also BIG fans of the Playstation (we have a PS2 and a PS3). Sukie likes platform games (e.g. Ratchet and Clank) I prefer adventure and horror (e.g. Drakes Fortune and God of War).

When my father was alive I bought him a Playstation and taught him how to play video games, albeit simple ones because he was in his '80's.

I noticed that he was much more engaged and stimulated than when he was watching TV.

I ended up buying and donating a Playstation and a bunch of game to the nursing home he was in (it was run by an elder organization).

So, play away!

PS - what sort of scores have people been able to get hula hooping on the Wii Fit? I can't seem to break 270

Well, alfalfa sprouts (not bean sprouts) Alfalfa on the sammie, bean in the wok. One of my favorite sandwiches is cotto salami, swiss cheese, alfalfa sprouts, with mayo on wheat bread....yummmmmm. Think I'll pick up those supplies at the grocery tonight.

Well, my current dog-sitting job ends today. I'm really ready to get back to my own house.

I want to work on my pictures this week and get some more posted. Jan, I went to look for my pictures of Ken Puckett and I don't have any that are very good, that's why I didn't post any. I have a cute one of him and Capt. Mickey on crossing day but it's taken from above so you can't see his face very well. Maybe I'll post it anyway, later.

Today I'm going to see "Get Smart" with some friends. Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday!

Framed Cruise Stuff

I said I would post photos of the stuff from the cruise I got framed.

First is the Ducky lithograph.

I'm not sure it photographed well but it is double framed. There is a think blue metal frame inside of the black frame.

Then it was mounted with a double matte, a teal/aqua blue matt with a white matte laid over it. The combination of the blues really makes the print "pop."

This is the pin set. It was framed with a blue wood frame, the grain of the frame shows through. In this photo the frame looks almost black, but is is really an indigo blue. It really makes the pins "pop."

Life With a Celebrity Part 3 (or is it part 4?)

The other day, when Sukie and I came home from Canada and got off the El (from the airport, not from Canada. The El doesn't run to Canada ... yet.)

Behind us we heard a young woman say, "Excuse me ... sir ..." She was VERY polite, so immediately we thought she couldn't possibly be talking to us.

She was talking to Sukie and thanked him for the documentary (this is really too much. He only appears for about 3 seconds ... well, maybe a bit more than that).

It appears that the documentary has really been raking in the donations, so they keep showing it over, and over, and over, and over (well you get the point) again.

Just last night, I finished editing and putting together the documentary on my Mac. I had to import first import it. I had to burn 3 DVDs off of the Tivo because there was about 1.5 hours of pledge drive interspersed with the documentary!

Then I had to import it into my Mac and use iMovie to edit out the endless pledge drive.

They have changed iMovie, so I had to figure out how the latest version worked, which was very different from the version I was used to.

I'm pleased to say that I now have it available on DVD, rather I should use the plural because of the length (even without the pledge drive) it takes up 2 DVDs.

Kelly, I put some of my precious cardboard boxes in the recycling when I got home today. That may not sound like a big deal to you, but believe me, it's a big deal for me! You're a good influence on me! Tomorrow I plan to clean out a couple of cupboards. I have one in my kitchen that has corningware stuff in it that I haven't touched in years! I hope I don't chicken out. Maybe when I see you in Sept. you can tell me about selling on eBay.

Wilson and Molly are completely out of their minds because I keep telling them all of our cruiser OLD friends have Wii (& we don't)

Wilson says "Ian please send us a Wii, my mom is too mean to buy us one"

Molly says "It's no fair the DISers and everyone in my life has a Wii except for me"

Would anyone like to have Molly & Wilson to train them on your Wii for the summer???

Good luck with that! My brother and I (only 13 months apart) were best pals and we still could find something to fight about at least once a day. Although, he did torment oldest sister more than he did me. ....THEN when Peg came along, he REALLY had somebody to tease.

Home Sweet Home, A Tour of Lincoln Square

OK, so I had too much time on my hands this weekend. Yesterday I went out and did a photo tour of our neighborhood, Lincoln Square.

As I have said before, I have come to realize that we live in a much more urban area that others here on the board (you probably can't get much more urban).

So, camera in hand, I set out to do a "photo essay."

It was actually quite an interesting exercise, since I tend not to notice much around here. It caused me to look at where we live with fresh eyes.

I had to walk huge distances for this photo essay.

The photographs were all taken in about a 3 block stretch from our house --- I walked all of 1 block south of our house and then 3 blocks north of our house, however, who am I to complain?

We live in Lincoln Square, which is an old German Neighborhood (http://lincolnsquare.org/document/guide_history.php).

Lisa, Every June I take 2 weeks and go through every cupboard, drawer,closets and pull it all out to give away or sell before any other summer projects or work happen. It really feels like I can find myself instead of feeling like I'm in a cloud. Tell them it will make you feel clear headed for work and make you a more productive person for them instead of worrying about your homelife.

I'll give that angle a try. Seems like the only time I empty every cupbard, drawer, closet is when I've lost something important! I usually can't find what I'm looking forward but get sidetracked with all the other finds.
