Jason is my favorite! I don't like Jeremy(I think is his name).

I don't like Jeremy the most. I hope she stays away from him! Jason is very sweet. We'll see. I think she's doing a good job of picking fairly though. I really respect her boundaries.

Wow you are old :lmao: Just kidding. I can't believe when people tell me stories about the price of their houses. It seems like you could actually live back then. Now everyone stays at home forever and struggles for a long time. We are really lucky that Jon's job has been so great but most of our friends aren't as lucky. I feel sorry for the 20 somethings now.

Don't forget that salaries were MUCH lower then. My take home pay for my first job out of school was $115 a week, and I was already out on my own, and so I had to pay for rent, food, utilities and carfare out of that.

Also, many of my contemporaries will tell you how horrible the recession (with inflation) was in the '70's and how horrible the job market was.

(OK - who else here is old enough to remember WIN? Whip Inflation Now?)

No, I knew... thought I'd post the book just incase people lurking thought I really meant FAT BUTT! It's such a hard hitting phrase. This work is loathsome, but I am selling a bunch of stuff right now. Lot's of DCL stuff too.

The bag and painting represent a couple of things on my vision board that I keep right over the sightlines of my computer. I started following this artist years ago and said that when I "made it" I'd purchase her art. The Kelly bag is something that I've loved for so long, but would never spend the money on such a luxury. We were so very poor when we started this business and are finally getting to the point where these material objects are getting close. Everything else comes first... school, home, health, business, retirement etc. But I said that each time I sell a piece of work to a syndicate I would finally get a luxury reward. And I'm getting really close. So, first we declutter, then we are expanding our entire business. All in a 15 week time period. Man are we trying to stay motivated.

Very cool about your vision board. I really admire people who are self-employed/entrepreneurs! You're inspiring me, seriously!

By the way, we all have our own "dream" boards (or vision boards or goal boards) and every few months we (as a family) redo them and have a great time talking about how goals and plans. The girls love that time and look forward to it and I always find them looking at their boards!

Ditto above comments for you, Kaylee!

You can olrder the Order of the Ditch certificate at any time. We left the Captain's name empty and got him to sign it, so you will just give those details and they will print it.

I think it is great for the money. I got the dressed mermaids, but i think Monica and Deborah got naked ones!!:)

Why doesn't that surprise me?!?!?!?!?:rotfl:

I got the naked ones, too. Does THAT surprise you?????;)

Not DVC here either......btw, Ian at the end of the last thread, I was congratulating Tracyvp for becoming a new DVC member. She joined on the cruise. Hope that clears it up for you.

Bill's first job out of college was $9000 a year in 1973. We thought we were rich!

Ooooooo, you guys were ROLLIN' in it! I think I made about $7300 in '73 (teaching). My ex and I lived on my salary. We lived in married student housing that was $95/mo, including utilities. He was still in pharmacy school.

That was a fun little trip down memory lane!

Hi Susie.......Hi Tammy.........nice to see you both on here again with us.

You still might get something. Ours came Sat.

Yes, every day I go to the mailbox quivering with anticipation!:hyper: :hyper:

Today, however, I did get my economic stimulus check!:cool1: :cool1:

Easy come, easy go.....to the cruise charges!:lmao:

You guys are cracking me up about the empty nest syndrome that you will experience in ten years or so.......what will it be like???? What can you then do that you don't do now????

You're asking all these questions when I'm right in the middle of it. No I have never had any kids, but we have always had John's grown kids along with the grandkids from babies to driving. I have always had my nephews all summer long at mom's house. We would run to different places and do busy things all summer....pool, beach, drive in movies.....lots of outside fun stuff. Barbeques! Lots of barbeques at everyone's house and fireworks on the fourth of July. I LOVE summer.

Now it's me and the cat and the turtles and the dog. It's summer. I can't call any of my usual people that have always been here to run out and play with. I have acquaintances nearby, not good friends. My good friends live an hour or two away. John, my best friend is always at work or commuting and has no time for himself. I'm sitting right in the middle of the empty nest and don't know how to take that first step out because life has changed!

Kids and grandkids, eh? You should see Sukie when he's around his kids. Also just try to imagine someone calling him "granddad." Imagine that he is indeed someone's grandfather.

I remember once his son came to stay with us for over a month. It was very odd for me, never having kids ... then after about a week, out of nowhere, I started to channel my mother. The funny thing was his son really responded.

This past fall we took his daughter and grandson on a 4-night DCL cruise and 8 nights in WDW. It was their first time there.

They stayed with us for a few days in Chicago before we all headed down to Orlando.

Ben, the grandson, was jumping up and down on one of the chairs in the living room, and without knowing it I said, "So? What are we? Wild animals? Wild animals jump up and down on the furniture, people sit like civilized human beings, and do not jump like wild animals."

I nearly slapped my hand over my mouth! At least I said it in English, and did not break into speaking Yiddish.

Did anyone get a commemorative mexican riveria pin for DVC members in the mail today? (This may be old news, lol.)

Tammy, I'm a DVC member and I have received absolutely nothing except a magnet.

By now I think DCL owes me a boat load of stuff (no pun intended).

OK, so who's going to say it? .... "We were poor, but we were happy?"

I remember when the kids were babies and I couldn't wait for them to get older and now I wonder where the last eight years went. Can we freeze them and keep them this age and me too while were at it ;)

I just feel like the worst mom. Annie Vanessa Gretchen and I are shopping. I cry every time I look at Vanessa. She leaves in 12 hours. The girls are in Claires looking for Best Friend necklaces to remember each other by.

How in the world did I allow myself to get so attached.

Well, since you brought it up....

In later years, when he was working as a pharmacist and I was teaching we often looked back at that time and laughed about how we really didn't feel "poor". I think we just lived within our means and still felt we had what we wanted--we just didn't want much, probably because we knew where we stood financially. And yes, we were happy! Sappy, but true!:)

That's how we feel. Wouldn't trade those days for anything...well maybe a DCL cruise.:rotfl2:
