We bought our first home in 1975 for 25,000 2 bedroom 900 sq ft starter home right on the edge of the Barrio. But you have to remember that wages are far more now also. Dennis made $300 per month in 1972 and we got another couple hundred a month from the GI bill to pay for school. With that we were raising 2 little girls. It is all relative. Pharmacists made around $10,000 in the late 60's and that was considered very successful way back then.

Wow that seems like nothing now. My mom was talking about how my dad made 40,000 and I wondered how they lived on that. That was much later than 1972. But as a stated early, most of our friends were 25 or older when they moved out and they lived with room mates. Most of them are just getting married now. It seems weird since we've been married 11 years.

no denying it I WILL BE A BASKET CASE. BUT, Paul and I talked about this last night and agreed that we will go back to being best friends and finding our groove without them. We laughed about how much time we spend together (we share an office ya know) much more than most couples we know and it seems to work....

We think we can't wait but I'm sure it will be hard when it comes around. Do you think we'll stay in bed all day like we used to :lovestruc

so you are telling me Molly wants to come up for a visit (even though I am apparently not anywhere near the top of your list:worried: ) We have the Wii and a resident Peacock!

I told Molly Jaide's bday guest list and she thought it was totally normal for her to come to a party in WASHINGTON state. You are on the list, it's another list...:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

phew, good to know I'm there somewhere! :thumbsup2

well, it is a short nonstop from san jose to Seatac...and you can get it for around 200.00! :goodvibes You never know! :) Her party is 7/31, but I think I skimmed that you guys were somewhere at a race that time.

don't tempt me. remember she flew to LA alone to meet me at Dland...and Molly hates that racing stuff...;)

Well that's no fun. I'll only be 47 when Brooke is 20! I know we'll be sleeping :furious:

you're too young to be my friend anymore, or I'm old hmmmmm....which is it. I know when your kids are gone come with me because I'll get the senior discount. we'd have to eat at 4pm is that ok? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'll eat anytime to get a discount :lmao: Wilson is only 2 years older than Brooke so they should all be gone around the same time. You won't even be 60 yet so we can still paint the town!

You guys are cracking me up about the empty nest syndrome that you will experience in ten years or so.......what will it be like???? What can you then do that you don't do now????

You're asking all these questions when I'm right in the middle of it. No I have never had any kids, but we have always had John's grown kids along with the grandkids from babies to driving. I have always had my nephews all summer long at mom's house. We would run to different places and do busy things all summer....pool, beach, drive in movies.....lots of outside fun stuff. Barbeques! Lots of barbeques at everyone's house and fireworks on the fourth of July. I LOVE summer.

Now it's me and the cat and the turtles and the dog. It's summer. I can't call any of my usual people that have always been here to run out and play with. I have acquaintances nearby, not good friends. My good friends live an hour or two away. John, my best friend is always at work or commuting and has no time for himself. I'm sitting right in the middle of the empty nest and don't know how to take that first step out because life has changed!

Well I guess me and Ray can always go and hang out at the pool. How fortunate for us. How did it get like this. It was not gradual. Very sudden. Gotta start somewhere I guess and spread out from there.....baby steps.

You can move down here and I'll hang out with you!

:lmao: :lmao: I'll be 47 when Zoe is 5 1/2!!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

By the time you go through empty nest syndrome, Kelly, you'll be too old to care.......just kidding......only 60 and if you're healthy and fit.....no problems. Gaylean will just be extremely young when it's her turn.

When I was 47 Betsy was 26!

My Shannon was 29 when I was 47. I am now 58 and she is turning 40 this year, our youngest is 30. I'm done young, thus DrHug and I can still enjoy hauling our bedroom around with us! :cool1: :smokin: :moped:

You're like Gaylean, starting young and then starting over again with Brent while you're still young. That's probably the best way! Because then you'll always be young and ready to run.
