We bought our first home in 1975 for 25,000 2 bedroom 900 sq ft starter home right on the edge of the Barrio. But you have to remember that wages are far more now also. Dennis made $300 per month in 1972 and we got another couple hundred a month from the GI bill to pay for school. With that we were raising 2 little girls. It is all relative. Pharmacists made around $10,000 in the late 60's and that was considered very successful way back then.
Wow that seems like nothing now. My mom was talking about how my dad made 40,000 and I wondered how they lived on that. That was much later than 1972. But as a stated early, most of our friends were 25 or older when they moved out and they lived with room mates. Most of them are just getting married now. It seems weird since we've been married 11 years.
