Hi all, will be back later. Back to the old thread for now.

Howdy! I'm here too! Headed off to eat lunch though.

Tyler's best friend & family are doing a land/sea the last week of August, with only 3 days on the Wonder. I'm wondering.....do they still need to do the online check-in since they'll be checking in from whatever resort they're staying (I think the Poly)? Does the 3 night still have the pirate party and character breakfast?

Holly, they should still do all the on-line stuff and print outs. The hotel check in will give them their KTTW card...IF they booked a land/sea package. If they booked the hotel on their own, then they will have to check in on the ship. The 3 night has the pirate party, but no character breakfast. The shows are Toy Story, Golden Mickeys and Disney Dreams...um, I think. I'll look for my Navigators from last December.

Which, apparently, I didn't keep.

Send your friends to the trip report forum to read some three day and land/sea trip reports!:thumbsup2

Thanks Jackie! They did indeed book the land/sea package. I did direct her to the DISboards, but she's just really busy and not able to get on here much. I'm just trying to answer her questions for her. Most of them I was able to answer. :thumbsup2

Ok joining up over here. Made a couple of posts on the other thread but now I'll join the rest here.

Morning everyone! Or Afternoon, or evening - depending on where you are.

Holly,
I'm going to try to save the two clips of you and Tyler on a USB thing and can send it to you...it is one of my "projects" this week-end. It isn't that long of a clip, but it is something!

Gotta look at my old photo album for the trip as this was before digital. I kept some notes for the trip but I'm not sure if I can piece them together. I do know that the entire trip we drove was about 14,000km (8700 miles).

Well let me see. We arrived in Las Vegas on night of Sept 23. My notes say we were in PIMA on Sept 22, drove through Tucson, bought gas in Kingman, AZ ($11.28 to fill up from Tucson). We entered Arizona coming from Roswell, NM on the evening of Sept 22, and stayed at a rest area in Arizona. We then went to Tombstone and then on to Pima Air Museum on the 23rd. And we arrived into Las Vegas on the night of the 23rd staying at Excalibur hotel. Left Vegas and on to the Grand Canyon North Rim on the 26th. And then we drove home to Kamloops, BC, by Sept 27, 2008. And yes that's only the back portion of the trip.

I'm VERY impressed with your record keeping! So you were in Pima. I've never been there. I have been to Tombstone, Bisbee and a place called El Frida, but haven't been to the SE of AZ much, although it is very pretty. The North Rim is really beautiful, too. I've only been there once; it's not as accessible as the South Rim.

You really did some power-driving. You made it from the North Rim back to Canada in one day? How on earth did you do that? Was that a typo?

What year was your trip? You put 2008, but I'm sure that was a typo.

I got my new lens yesterday! It was really late last night by the time I unpacked it and got it on the camera. I'm going to take the dog out for a walk in a minute, so I think I'll take the camera and play around with it.

Tut, John died as Indiana Jones, so we now have to get on with some jobs around the house!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: That just struck me funny!

Whoah! How cool! :yay: Thanks so much! I'm happy to send you a USB thing or a CD or something for you to put it on, just let me know.

Glad to see you posting! Been wondering about you!

What is Camp Rock?

New Disney channel movie with the Jonas Brothers. It is on ABC tonight and ABC Family tomorrow night.

And my 6 year old niece has declared it "Awesome."

I got one - I just need to find the zip drive I put all the videos on (hazard of a house with 4 boys, nothing is where you leave it!). And then see if the USB thing I have is big enough...we are also going to head to Costco this morning so if they have the DVDs I can get that. We just don't have any around.:confused3 We are so scattered sometimes when it comes to photos and videos I often wonder why I take photos and videos n the first place! I mean, I have boxes full of tapes of video and never ONCE looked at them. We don't have time to organize them let alone look at them.

This is why I'm starting a new career goal (which I haven't told my bosses yet). I want to take three weeks off over the summer and have that time to be with the boys and organize my house. I think I will pitch it sometime in Fall, for the following year. Figure I can still be available for emergencies, and my work can pretty much run on autopilot while I am away. I'd love to have time to dive into the scrapbook box for Luke's baby stuff...oh heck, for my oldest baby stuff that is still in the box! And it just doesn't work to do those things on week-ends and evenings. I would take the time off as unpaid (or using any extra PTO time). And then take normal vacations (3 weeks) during the rest of the year. Given my tenure and all, I hope the board will give me a green light. The one thing I realized from taking this 2 week vacation is how important it is to work to live and not the other way around.

Marilyn,

Canada is a pretty big place too. I just looked it up and I am 2649km (1646 miles) away from DL. We are 4306km (2676 miles) from WDW. Just in comparison, I checked out your distance from WDW and it came in at 6867km (4267 miles). Interesting, I always thought I was about 24 hours away from DL. This would seem to indicate that I am actually about 27-29 hours away.

I think Kaylee is the closest to me in Washington and even that is about 10 or 11 hours away I think.

Same here. I'm 1.5 hrs away from work. 7-8 hours from Vancouver. 9 hours from Edmonton. Less than 5 minutes from downtown. 10 minutes from the west side of town to the North side.

I think you are right Ken...we are about 2.5-3 hours from Vancouver. I know Nimpo Lake was 12-13 hours for us and I think Williams Lake was about 9, if that gives you any extra idea. Of course, whenever you venture down this way....give us a call! Angie and Dennis are probably about 3 hours away from us, maybe a bit less....
Those last minute DIS meets probably can't happen for us up here in this corner of the states :(

Well next time we are thinking about heading to Vancouver we will just have to reconsider and think about going "just a little further". I do know that since some (I think one was you) people were talking about the Great Wolf Lodge, we have looked into that as a possibility and it has intrigued us as a nice little "jaunt". The airport in Prince George (an hour north of me) has direct flights on Horizon Air to Seattle so that may make it easier than killing two full days just driving there and back. But the drive to Vancouver isn't that bad. We used to go to football games (CFL) there on a regular basis so we would make the trek about 5 or 6 times a year. My father actually has a condo in Richmond (suburb of Vancouver), so it is even cheap for us to stay there!

Okee dokee, thanks! :goodvibes
