Question; can this be done?

So, I have a 1 BR Villa G/P view booked
I also have a Deluxe Studio G/P view booked

these are booked the exact same days.

Interestingly a 2 BR Lock-off is lower points than the 1 BR and the Deluxe Studio.

So...can I call member services and ask them to combine into a 2 BR lock-off and re-issue the point difference?

Has anyone ever tried this?

I am guessing that perhaps even though I have what make a 2 BR lockoff, that they may not be able to guarantee that the ones I have booked could be a 2-BR lockoff.

Thoughts?

No, that can't be done.

The only way this might be done cancelling the two rooms and rebook, and the chances of being able to do it before a rooms is held for a waitlist is are low. Member services will do the exact same process you can do online, so they can't hold the rooms.

That's kind of what I figured. Interesting the points are different since in both cases you're taking up the same two rooms..you'd actually expect the 2BR point chart to be higher.

You are paying a premium for flexibility.
You have the chance to cancel part of the room if part of your party will not be traveling with you anymore and get those points back and keep a room for your self. If the people are not traveling with you and you have the lockoff booked you would have to eat the extra points used or hope you can modify to something else.

When you book seperately, you are paying the lock off premium to book those as two individual rooms vs a 2 bedroom.

As others have mentioned, the only thing you can try is to drop one of the rooms, and quickly attempt to pick it back up and hope a waitlist doesn't grab it.

You can also call MS to see if they can tell if there is a waitlist for either or the rooms to give you an idea if it is worth the risk?

I don’t think this is normal but it has been done for me once. I had like 5 nights in a 2 bedroom lock off and 2 other nights in a 1 bed and studio. Disney combined all the reservations for me and made the last 2 nights 2 bedroom lock offs. I was shocked they did this. You probably just have to get the “right” person.

Its a cancel and rebook, just as well DVC wont split a 2br lockoff into a 1br and studio.

As others have said you can try to do it yourself but chances are that a WL will take either the studio or 1br.

I dont think this is correct. When I have changed a booking from my home resort MS staff have said they are holding the room whilst they make the change. I would call MS.

It’s not an automatic that they can hold the room and sometimes they can’t.

But, it never hurts to call MS to see what they can do.

MS actually offered to split a 2 br. lock off for me letting me keep the 1 br. & canceling the studio once, long ago. I didn’t take them up on the offer.

I don’t usually try to change things at 7 months, but the times I have I’ve been warned it’s a cancel/rebook & that I could lose my original booking & not secure the new one - maybe it’s because of when I go which is usually during the very high demand time of early Dec..

If there is availability in a 2 bedroom lock-off, do you have enough points to modify the one bedroom to the 2 bedroom reservation online, then drop the studio? If not, I agree, call MS and see if there is a way for them to do it.

A lock-off should be a booking category. It is at OKW.

All DVC resorts have the lock off category but where the OP is booking, Boardwalk, only has lock off two bedrooms so unfortunately even if they have enough points it most likely won’t be available as people gobble up the studios.

BTW, ALL Studios and One Bedrooms at OKW are lock-offs, There are dedicated two bedrooms, but there are no dedicated studios or one bedrooms. They all have connecting doors.

Correct.

You gave some great advice earlier if you had more points to switch to a 2 bedroom and then cancel the other.
That would work for every resort as they all have dedicated 2 bedrooms with the exceptions being BWV and Jambo house that only have lock off two bedrooms but BWV does not.

BWV does have dedicated Studios and 1 bedrooms and that also hurts the ability for the OP to swap their currently booked Pool Garden Studio and Pool Garden 1 bedrooms.

Even though BWV is a large resort there are only a possibility of 91 two bedrooms and when the number of studios exceed the amount of dedicated ones (74 in P/G) that number then drops plus of course if someone had already booked a 2 bedroom.

It can be actually easier to get a 2 bedroom at BRV which is much smaller resort overall and only offering up to 89 2 bedrooms. However of the 89 units available to book at BRV there are 44 dedicated 2 bedrooms that helps.

Ironically it is even easier to book a 2 bedroom at BCV as they have up to 152 2 bedroom units with 74 of them being dedicated.

Since a lockoff 1 bedroom plus a studio use more points than the 2 bedroom lockoff, and since the total number of points that could be sold are based on the 2 bedroom lockoff, whenever a 2 bedroom lockoff is split up into a one bedroom and a studio there will be extra points for Disney to use. Maybe they go toward maintenance, meaning they can shut rooms down for maintenance. Or maybe it’s also an opportunity for Disney book cash paying customers.

Can you please explain the login behind Disney getting points when a studio and 1br are booked separately vs booked as a 2br.
I understand there are a points difference but I don’t understand how that gives Disney any points.

I ended up actually moving into 2 each of the 1 BR Garden Pool View at BWV. I had one already and had a deluxe studio, but ended up grabbing a second 1 BR and converting my Deluxe Studio over. Hopefully someone was excited by getting the Studio as they are harder to get.
