Yep the trip was certainly something to remember. Until this last trip it was probably one of my best trips I had ever taken. We spent most nights sleeping in our car (a 2dr Ford Escort) at various rest stops along the way (we had just graduated university the year before so money was still a foreign concept). Besides, I figured that after we had spent that much time in those close quarters together we could probably handle being married. Afterall I had been "dating" her for only 7 years at that point. ;)

Well looks like it is time for me to get busy too. Shaelyn has a birthday party to go to in couple of hours and then we have to go up to Prince George for my neice's dance recital and then tomorrow my nephews have their birthday party. Yes I said nephews. Shannon's sister managed to have both her boys on the same day, just 7 years apart. The eldest is turning 16 so it's a big deal this weekend.

Probably won't be able to check back until Sunday night. Have a great weekend everyone!! :cool1:
Have a great time! Make sure to post pictures of the cakes Shannon is making. :thumbsup2

Well, I'm sure glad I mowed early this morning. The sky has turned dark and it's been lightly raining since shortly after I finished mowing, the wind has picked up, and we have severe thunderstorm watches. Supposed to be raining and storming on and off until tomorrow. Looks like we might not be going to the baseball game after all. But that's OK....we can work on cleaning instead.

Oh, forgot to mention. Tyler and I each received a CC Shoreside Survival Kit in the mail yesterday. No puzzle, no CD, just a magnet for each of us. It's a triangle shaped magnet with Goofy on it, relaxing in his sailor suit and it says Disney Cruise Line. Cute, but I'm not really impressed! Oh well.....Tyler will love it when he sees his.

Morning all. Well, I'm 4 miles from the beach and it was 87 at 10am. It was 91 at oceanside yesterday which is unheard of.

This is why I'm starting a new career goal (which I haven't told my bosses yet). I want to take three weeks off over the summer and have that time to be with the boys and organize my house. I think I will pitch it sometime in Fall, for the following year. Figure I can still be available for emergencies, and my work can pretty much run on autopilot while I am away. I'd love to have time to dive into the scrapbook box for Luke's baby stuff...oh heck, for my oldest baby stuff that is still in the box! And it just doesn't work to do those things on week-ends and evenings. I would take the time off as unpaid (or using any extra PTO time). And then take normal vacations (3 weeks) during the rest of the year. Given my tenure and all, I hope the board will give me a green light. The one thing I realized from taking this 2 week vacation is how important it is to work to live and not the other way around.

Lisa, Every June I take 2 weeks and go through every cupboard, drawer, closets and pull it all out to give away or sell before any other summer projects or work happen. It really feels like I can find myself instead of feeling like I'm in a cloud. Tell them it will make you feel clear headed for work and make you a more productive person for them instead of worrying about your homelife.

My daughter stayed up last night to watch camp rock..and tivo'd it on both tv's..I caught her doing the dance and singing at the end of it. She was pissed when she turned around in the middle of her air guitar to see me standing there smiling. It was hysterical. If only I had my video camera at the time. (it was next to her..no way to get it w/o her stopping). The jonas brothers are coming to the pavillion near us and the tix are $75 each...OMG for a kids group! Thats crazy.

They are coming here too (about 5 min. away) but the tkts were very expensive and it is the day of Mother's wedding.

so John sat me down the other night and wanted my big three ==== places where I want to go....Hawaii and Alaska we both said first then he pipes up with Canada! I would love to go to Anne of Green Gables Area!

Kaylee" Those last minute DIS meets probably can't happen for us up here in this corner of the states "

We love Seattle, ya never know when the SKJs will show up...:cool1: :thumbsup2

I'm back reading page one, be here again shortly.

BTW, our weather is freaking out. There was just a weather notice that bad thunder & lightening storms are headed this way. It's EARTHQUAKE weather here today...muggy, not nearly as hot as it was, only 97 now :rotfl2:

Paul tells me it is 80 in Atwater, I checked it's 99 was a goof.

I don't think we were actually IN Pima. We went to the Pima Air Museum which is probably a little closer to Tucson (at least all the brochures I have in my photoalbum have the address as being Tucson).

We don't talk much about the Grand Canyon and our trip there in this house as it is a sore spot with me. When we went we got the pay station where they had a sign up saying "Some fog. Limited visibility". The Ranger didn't say anything to us about it we just said we were from Canada coming to take a look at the Canyon. We paid our money to get in the park and drove up to the visitor's centre. We got there and the Canyon was fogged in! You couldn't see 3 feet in front of you, let alone the canyon. I will have to scan in the pic of the canyon as we saw it. There was nothing to see!! What a collossal waste of time and money! I was ticked right off the entire time we were there. Would have been nice if the ranger had told us BEFORE we paid there was nothing to see!

Yes we did some power driving on that trip. We drove from Kamloops, BC to WDW and came back along the southern end of the US. We saw lots like Little Bighorn, going through the Black Hills of South Dakota and Deadwood, Mt Rushmore and Mt. Crazy Horse. Went the through the middle of the country going to places like Kansas city, St. Louis to stop and look at the arch, drove across the Mississippi, went to Graceland in Memphis and stopped at the Country Music hall of fame in Nashville. We stopped and looked at the Chattanooga choo choo. We got chased out of a rest area one night near Atlanta so we raced through Georgia and went straight into Florida. Spent some time in Daytona on the beach (loved that place). Went to the Kennedy Space Centre (we had tickets to watch a shuttle launch (but it got delayed to when we weren't going to be there), went to Seaworld. We then spent 6 nights in WDW before heading back. Went over to New Orleansand spent some time walking around the French quarter then on to Texas where we saw the Alamo in San Antonio and did the beautiful River walk there. Then as I mentioned in the earlier post, we went up to Roswell and over Tombstone, Pima Air Museum, through Tucson and up to Las Vegas where we spent a couple of days before heading up through Utah and back into Canada.

We left Kamloops, BC on Sept 5th and were back there on Sept 27th. And as you noted, that was a typo as this was 1997 when we did this trip.

Oh yeah, and while we were in WDW I proposed to Shannon. But that is a whole other story ...

Holy Moly!! Now THAT is a road trip! :moped: I am impressed that you not only did the drive in that time, but also actually saw all those things. Wow. :worship:

Yea..I was suprised at how much I liked it..you should rent the other boleyn girl..that was good too. I tried to get fools gold this weekend..i could use a little matthew..but it was out.

i watched the other boleyn last night, it was good. the book of course was better.

how was the vodak book? I saw it the other day and thought of getting it but wanted to see what you thought.

Maybe I'll get both of those later in the week. :thumbsup2 Right now I'm about to watch Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium.

that is on our Wed morning list. Just found the local cheap kid movies for the summer. a local theater offers $1 movies at 10am on Wednesdays. Good for us we missed about half of them, so that takes care of 4 Wed mornings.:thumbsup2

Ok, off to wander our neighborhood....we are having out annual garage sale (or tag (yard) sale for the east coasters!) The girls like to walk around and see what junk, oops I mean treasures, they can get. Have a great day everyone.

To those in Cali and AZ dealing with the heat, good luck and I'll gladly send you any of our clouds and cool air your way! the hotter the better for me...I loved the weather going through the canal! :cool1:

Nan, how are the fires doing? Any containment yet?? Your area seems to be hit really hard so early in the season....hopefully this will be it and the rest of the summer will be fire free!

Our neighbors, next door and accross the street are garage saleing today too. So Molly and her friend Bailey have set up a lemonade stand. Gotta love summer. :thumbsup2

I haven't heard what the fires are doing today, it was so sad last night to see the loss of homes. Seems that this last one might have been arson :furious:

It's a collection of stories from her life. So if you know her and her voice it's pretty freaking funny. BUT if you don't know her as a comedian than it's freaky. I'm going to get started on the other boleyn girl book tomorrow.

Our local theater has the $1 movies too, but since tay is in camp..it's not a doable thing. Good idea though.

Everyone stay cool...I've gotten an early invitation to my friends so we're packing up and heading out...I have every ambition to being a prune today in the water!

It was 100 at the beach here yesterday, yes unheard of. When it's that hot it's too hot to go there :furious: remember the water up here is 60, not fun :(

thanks, I only watch her from afar, so I'll pass on the book then. Let us know what you think of Boleyn Book ::yes::

First pitcher of lemonade gone! It took less than 10 minutes. The girls are speaking Spanish to their customers. Bailey came in to make the next batch and said, "you have alot of Spanish speaking people around here" :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Molly and Bailey went to school together, where they spent half their day speaking Spanish. I find it so funny that Bailey thinks it's odd to speak it outside of school.

(just looked up the demographics of our city, San Jose...31% white, 31% hispanic, 30% Asian, 3% African American, 3% other 9as of 2005)

2 little entrepreneurs there!! :)

I hope the fires are contained soon before deaths occur. It is so sad to lose your home. I wonder if people manage to take things with them when they evacuate.

Well, I fell asleep during Magorium. It was good, but I think it was the music that did me in. Not sure. So.....off to return movies and pick Tyler up. Not raining anymore, but the sky still looks ominous and it's chilly, so I decided no baseball game, unless things change in the next 2 hours.

Good news.....the butterflies did not hatch yet, so Tyler didn't miss it. Now I'll be hoping they hurry up and hatch before he leaves again on Wednesday!

I saw last nights news and many could NOT go back to get even pets. It was terrible to watch those interviews. This last fire was in 5 spots and then they merged. Hence the thought of arson. So Sad.

This is why I want to move...

Holly, I think it said we could keep them for a few days before release, so he should get to see them. Also I don't think the hatch was really "fast" you might see it start and be able to call him at Dads house and have him come and watch later that day???:confused3

Yes, it does say we can keep them a few days, even with instructions on feeding them. But I didn't know the hatch was slow like that, so that's good news. His dad's house is just one mile down the road, so he could easily come watch. Thanks for the tip! :goodvibes
