I don't think we were actually IN Pima. We went to the Pima Air Museum which is probably a little closer to Tucson (at least all the brochures I have in my photoalbum have the address as being Tucson).
We don't talk much about the Grand Canyon and our trip there in this house as it is a sore spot with me. When we went we got the pay station where they had a sign up saying "Some fog. Limited visibility". The Ranger didn't say anything to us about it we just said we were from Canada coming to take a look at the Canyon. We paid our money to get in the park and drove up to the visitor's centre. We got there and the Canyon was fogged in! You couldn't see 3 feet in front of you, let alone the canyon. I will have to scan in the pic of the canyon as we saw it. There was nothing to see!! What a collossal waste of time and money! I was ticked right off the entire time we were there. Would have been nice if the ranger had told us BEFORE we paid there was nothing to see!
Yes we did some power driving on that trip. We drove from Kamloops, BC to WDW and came back along the southern end of the US. We saw lots like Little Bighorn, going through the Black Hills of South Dakota and Deadwood, Mt Rushmore and Mt. Crazy Horse. Went the through the middle of the country going to places like Kansas city, St. Louis to stop and look at the arch, drove across the Mississippi, went to Graceland in Memphis and stopped at the Country Music hall of fame in Nashville. We stopped and looked at the Chattanooga choo choo. We got chased out of a rest area one night near Atlanta so we raced through Georgia and went straight into Florida. Spent some time in Daytona on the beach (loved that place). Went to the Kennedy Space Centre (we had tickets to watch a shuttle launch (but it got delayed to when we weren't going to be there), went to Seaworld. We then spent 6 nights in WDW before heading back. Went over to New Orleansand spent some time walking around the French quarter then on to Texas where we saw the Alamo in San Antonio and did the beautiful River walk there. Then as I mentioned in the earlier post, we went up to Roswell and over Tombstone, Pima Air Museum, through Tucson and up to Las Vegas where we spent a couple of days before heading up through Utah and back into Canada.
We left Kamloops, BC on Sept 5th and were back there on Sept 27th. And as you noted, that was a typo as this was 1997 when we did this trip.
Oh yeah, and while we were in WDW I proposed to Shannon. But that is a whole other story ...
