Way Early Roll Call For March 4, 2006 Eastern.........

This is completely off the current topic, but I'm thinking about renting a tuxedo for my husband. I heard they take pictures on formal night and since we are celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary, I really want a nice picture to hang next to our wedding picture. I bought a gown and he has suits, but they're not great. Can anyone tell me maybe what percentage of men wear tuxedos on formal night?

There was a huge range of dress on formal night. I remember seeing tuxedos but there were more suits than tuxes. Because there is such a variety, I don't think anyone sticks out.

BTW, I highly recommend doing a bag check before you leave your house. We drove down Friday night. I worked a 1/2 day, got home and DH threw the bags in the car. I checked on passports but assumed he grabbed the garment bag in the middle of our bedroom. Well, as we were approaching Daytona at around 12:30 am, I sat up and asked DH if he put the garment bag with my dresses and his suits in the car. We then spent the next 45 minutes blaming each other for our lack of formal wear!

When we got on the ship, I bought a Mickey dress shirt and tie for DH. Luckily I had a nice skirt in the suitcase and DS's tuxes (I got tuses for them on ebay for like $30 each) were in another bag. We asked our tablemates if it would bother them if DH did not have a suit and they were fine with it. We did not feel particularly out of place, but I would have been much happier if we wore what we had planned!

Congrats on your 10th anniversary! We were on a cruise last year for ours. :)
We have never been on a Disney cruise, so I can't tell you the percentage of men with tuxes on - however we have always seen some men with tuxes on the other cruises.
Your pictures would look great - and when you are looking at the photo for the next 10 years, you won't care even if he were the only one that wore one! It's your special day!!!! Enjoy!!!

BTW - on Royal Caribbean they had a special party for the newly married and those celebrating their anniversaries - I hope that Disney does the same! Go if they do because there were lots of cool things like champange, wedding cakes, and prizes for the spa, bathrobes etc. Really worth it!

We were on the Disney cruise last March and I'd say 10%? wore tuxes. My dh wore his for formal night and the night we went to palo. He bought it new on ebay for $90.00. He also got a Mickey vest on ebay for $5.00. It makes a great picture.

Hello, this is our first cruise. I was wondering what to pack for the evenings? Does it get cool in March - should I pack light sweaters or jackets?

Also, Do we really need dramamine? I have a , DH, DD8 and DS5. I don't normally get seasick but I'm not sure if the kids do or not.

Thanks! Can't wait! :cool1:

I just received my cruise docs yesterday!!!!

I read that it said....no personal coolers, again!! I am still nervous about bringing one on with alcohol in it!!!

Anyone else concerned? Or am I worrying for nothing?

HI ALL
Shelley, see you on the shuttle!!! 3 more weeks to go!!!

Sandi, I'm worried about the cooler thing too. So to solve that problem, we're shoving everything in our empty suitcase. Now that I can't drink, it will depend if DH and bro want to bring alcohol. And you got your cruise documents already?? how exciting!!! I'm little worried that we won't get ours in time due to all the problems we've had so far...so pessimistic, eh?

Shawna, I bought all sorts of anti nausea meds...draminine, gravol, anti-nausea bracelets. and welcome!!

I can't believe it's only 3 weeks away. We have 3 suitcases, 36", 32" and a 28". We're putting the 28" into the 32" for souveniers etc. Plus we'll all have some sort of carry on. The 36" is already full with stuff and there's no clothes in them yet....getting a little worried about the "lack" of space.

We're doing WDW after the cruise. we're trying not to over plan but it's hard not to.

I'm soooooooooo jealous!! I think I'll flip the day we get ours!!

I'm not worried about bringing on the cooler. On the main board, they say people do it all the time and they never bat an eye. I know that's in writing, but it seems to be very common.

Also, welcome all! There seems to be lots of 5 and 6 year old here - anyone interested in getting them talking via the computer before the cruise? They might get excited to know some names before they arrive?

It's a good idea to bring a sweater or shawl for the evenings. After a day of sun- it's easy to feel chilled, especially with the air conditioning at full tilt in some areas. Usually on the decks at night the breeze is still quite warm.

We are bringing ours on! I'm sure they have to put that in writing to keep things from getting out of control.

Welcome Shawnadee! Sandi, I can't beleive that you got your cruise documents already-how exciting. Did you book through a travel agent here in town? I went in to talk to ours yestetday to remind her that we are leaving for orlando a week before the cruise to make sure they will send ours before that. Hopefully it will not be a problem. Also, Qball I am looking forward to seeing you on the shuttle and if you update the list again before we go I will put some of details here that were missing. We got our docs too!!!!]

I'm doing the dance!! I'm doing the dance!! I've already filled out the paperwork...

We booked through Dreams Unlimited. If you're updating the list, we're in room #6534, I believe. Just off the elevators, I'm hoping it's not noisy.

We did a "countdown chain" for the girls. You know, loops out of construction paper, and everyday we take one off. Everytime my DD3 rips one off, she runs out into the kitchen yelling, "Hip Hip Horray! We're going on a cruise." It's the sweetest thing in the world!

I hope we get our documents soon too.
As you can see, I updated the list. Hummm I think I spelled Fredericton wrong...oops sorry...you'd think I live in Canada that I could spell the capital of NB!!! :confused3

I remember one of the things to bring (thread about what to bring list) was your deposit for the next cruise! Anyone toying with this idea who is a first time cruiser?

We've been pretty lucky here that our winter has been pretty mild compared to what it usually is...until this week. I've been trying hard to gob the moisturizing cream on my legs and this week we got the freeze and now my legs are back to reptilian like legs....ahhhhhh. So maybe should think about packing nylons???? I guess I should gob the moisterizer on and wear longjohns all day???? yikes!

can't wait to go...regardless of the repitilian like legs!

I would love to rebook onboard...but I really can't see it happening...unless I don't want to have a husband when I get home!

I had to beg, borrow, and steal for this trip! I have stuck to a pretty good budget, but I am paranoid it will all blow up when we get that harmless KTTW card with tink on it.....how bad can a pink card really be??? (last years at DW was pink with tink....loved it...)

I am graduating from university next year, and as soon as I get a real job....vacation fund! I would love to do a cruise again.....but probably not for a few years yet.

I can't believe it is only WEEKS away!! It seems surreal......

Shelley, It looks like you have one of the "secret Porthole" rooms!

Did you know that when you booked? There is a thread on the boards with pictures of it....

I keep hoping for an upgrade...but I am not holding my breath....slim chance...

We are only doing this because I got such a great deal on the room!! So I am just happy to be going....

I'd love to book another, but the rates for 2007 are so much higher. For us, the same sailing date, same room, it's $1,000 more - and that's through Dreams Unlimited.

Since we did a DCL cruise last year, and now this year, I don't think we'd do one in 2007 anyway. So, my big question to myself is, do we want to book one for 2007, with the 15% discount, and then just plan on moving it to 2008. If I can afford it, I probably will!

we booked through DU last year, and got a great quote...2900/75 shipboard credit, for two adults, two kids.....

I thought it was great compared to what the disney site quoted! Next year, same dates, same category was almost 1000 more on DU. So.....since I booked last year when I was still working, and now I am a fulltime student, I don't see much hope in going again anytime soon.....

I talked my husband into it by saying we would skip our annual trip to my sisters in Virginia (which usually costs us a couple of thousand, and we sleep on the floor!), and instead meet for a cruise! It went over well with both husbands!! So we are really looking forward both to a great vacation, and quality time with my sister and her family!
