Way Early Roll Call For March 4, 2006 Eastern.........

I know - I keep telling myself, in 5 weeks, I'm in bathing suit! If that's not incentive enough, I don't know what is.

I have a new problem, that has me a bit stressed. Something's going on with Northwest Airlines - our airline - that may mean the pilots will strike or the airline will go bankrupt. For the first time, I heard a date for all of this - Feb. 11th.

Has anyone ever been involved with complications like this? Will we be put on another airline? Or are we looking at driving to Florida? We do have insurance, at least, so I think some added expense would be covered.

Any words of advice?

Kristin

Kristin,

you say that the date being talked about is Feb 11, so I wouldn't worry too much...I don't think if it came to a strike it would last that long...I hope not anyway!

Hopefully they come to an agreement......and it all works out.

I can't believe it is so close. We leave Mar 1 for Disney, so it is only a month away now!! Of course I have tons of school work I need to have done...but I am organizing suitcases instead!

Kristin, I wouldn't worry either. Even if they do strike Feb 11 is it unlikely it would still be in effect by the time you fly for the cruise. And if it looks like it will be, your TA will have time to re-book you on another airline in time.

We still haven't decided if we should get there early, and wait....or get there late and walk on???

Any ideas??

Kristin, sorry to hear about your airline problems. Hopefuuly everything works out soon. It's so stressful.

My DH is worried that we'll miss our flight from Toronto to Orlando. DD and I go from Saskatoon, to calgary to Toronto (overnight with brother) and the next day to Orlando. DH has a later flight the same day but we meet up in Toronto (he's got the red-eye flight). The TO to Orlando flight leaves TO at 10:22 am and DH gets in at 6:35am. He's already harping not to be late so I'm guessing he wants us there at least two hours before the flight leaves and since I don't know what TO traffic is like at 7:30am...we might have to leave early.

That said, same goes for getting on the boat. He wants to be there early "just in case"..as he's been saying "we didnt pay all this money to miss our flights or the boat". So we have seats on the first shuttle out 10:30 from the Radisson.

Good question! From reading the boards, I've gathered this. If you arrive early - before they begin boarding - it's a zoo. Lots of waiting around, standing in line. The benefits? Getting on the boat first, eating a delicious lunch, what else?

If you wait too long, and get there at the same time the Disney transfers arrive, you'll have a good wait too.

So, we're planning on arriving at 11:30ish. We've hired a towncar, so we can set the time. I'd love to hear your opinoins... standing in line waiting to get on was no fun. Everyone's excited, everyone's anxious.

11:30 sounds good...

We were thinking the same thing....I really don't want to rush to wait....

We have a toddler with us too, (my sister's baby), and chasing him around the terminal doesn't really sound like fun to me!!!

we would like to have a swim at the resort, and a nice breakfast, then head out around 10:30 or so.

Are any of you taking your own alcohol on board? They say in the disney documents you can't, but everyone on these boards seems to say it is ok!

I am still torn on that one....

We were on the cruise last year and brought 3 bottles of alcohol and a case of beer and a case of water in a soft side roll along cooler. Actually the alcohol and wine was in a box strapped to the top of the cooler. They just won't let you put ice in the cooler, I think because it leaks thru the xray machine?

Good tip on the ice! Yes, we're bringing a soft sided rolling cooler on board too - bought the mickey one, just to keep in "style."

Planning on filling it with wine, beer, and bottled water. We always need that in the room, and the Evian is pricey on board. Don't know how much of all that will fit in the cooler - but we'll cram in as much as we can!

Have you guys seen the pay-it-foward thread? People will send your kids postcards from the cruise signed by the characters. My daughters were thrilled to know that Belle and Cinderella were waiting to see them!
Try-it!

too excited to sleep in our first full day on board!!!

What do you all plan on doing your first day....I am looking for some ideas!

Last year we went straight to Parrot Cay to eat. (You can also go upstairs to Topsiders to eat.) We then went to the Mickey pool- it's the best time to go. I then made our Palo ressies while DH watched the boys. This year I made them online. Take the time to learn the ship.

Well, we can't wait to go! Today it is freezing rain here and the power went out for a few hours. So, I used the time to drag out the suitcase and start to throw in a few things for the cruise!!! :cool1:

Soon - the only ice we will have will be melting in our drinks!!! :drinking1

Is anyone going to WDW before the cruise? I'll be at OKW 2/26 - 3/3 with my ds3 and parents. My dh and ds7 will fly down 3/3 due to school and work.

It is warm here today, like 8 or so....really weird for Feb!! It is supposed to be freezing rain tonight! I actually wish it was snow instead of rain.....it is so icky looking out!!!

Qball, we are also booked on that 10:30 shuttle from the Radisson. We had booked that before they changed the boarding process, we decided to just leave the time same even if it means that we may have a little bit of a wait when we get there. Sandi, I think we may bring a few bottles of wine or wine cooler on the ship with us just to have in our room since everyone keeeps saying that it is not a proble to bring it with you. I am really starting to get excited because we are leaving for orlando three weeks tomorrow. Shelley

I can't believe how close it is getting....

we leave 3weeks from wed, and I am having a hard time containing myself!!!! I am totally obsessed with this trip! I have tons of homework I should be doing, but I am having such a hard time concentrating!!

I haven't told all my profs yet that I am missing 3 classes!!! I don't really care...how slack I am this term!

Shelley, I think we too are going to stop for alcohol and water bottles. I just don't know where...we might just look for a place on the drive from Orlando Sat morn.

Explore the ship! Explore the kids club - try to get DD3 comfortable with it! Eat lunch! Find our room! I've also heard it's the best day to swim in the Mickey pool - so we'll probably do that, too.
