Way Early Roll Call For March 4, 2006 Eastern.........

Sandi, I booked in Nov or Dec of 2004 and after I had booked I was reading about the secret porthole rooms so at the end of Dec 2004 I called our travel agent to see if we could get one and they were available. I change the room once because the first number I got was one of the connecting rooms and I have read that they can be noisy so I switched it a few weeks later to the room we have now. I thought it would be nice to be close to the kids clubs because both my kids are very social, especilly my youngest, and I think they will really enjoy the kids clubs. We also will not be booking on board because the next few years we will probably travel to see my 2 sisters one which lives in the Yukon and one that lives in Valdosta, Georgia. And it also took alot of convincing to talk my husband into spending this much money on on vacation. I can not beleive the that we leave in less than 3 weeks. I did start to get all the clothes ready to pack and I was hoping to get away with 5 suitcases but looking at all the stuff I have out I think that was probably wishful thinking. Shelley

Shelley,
I too am wondering about suitcases!! I thought two suitcases, and two LARGE duffle bags might work....but I am wondering. One of the duffle bags is mostly shoes!! With formal nights, dinner in the dinning room every night, and then we need sneakers and sandals, there are at least 4pairs each for us!

I ordered very large duffle bags from LLBean, thinking I could store them better, and they are huge! But I still wonder if I will be able to fit everything, as we are gone almost two weeks, and I really don't want to HAVE to do laundry!

It's kind of ironic we live around the corner from each other, and talk on here!! I was wondering if we had time to get the boys together before to meet? We don't have to say ANYTHING about the cruise.....I know it;s a surprise for yours....but if you don't want to chance it...no problem! I am home most days after school (except this week, I am in the schools). I could have your 8yr old over for a playdate the week after?

Just a thought....
Sandi

Sandi, that sounds like a great idea to get the boys together. This week is also very hectic for me but maybe the week after on the Thursday or Friday before we go. What day do you leave? If you want to give me a call it is under Mike Hewitson in the book. I agree with the amount of stuff that we need to pack and I also do not want to have to do any laundry while we are away we do enough when we are home. Shelley

Hi Shelley,

That weekend (last weekend in Feb) we have a hockey tournament in Moncton, so we leave on Friday, and Thursday the boys have piano. Would Wed afternoon or Tues/mon afterschool work? I am home those days....

If it doesn't work out, we can at least introduce them onboard the first day....they can't go to the clubs until the sunday...I think sat night is open for families, but not leaving them.....we could meet up that night/afternoon there too?

Sandi

Sandi, I think we may have to wait until we are on the boat because I am working for a few days 8-8 that week and I am out of town at the start of the week. Maybe we could plan on introducing the kids that Saturday night at the Kids clubs. We have the early seating and will hope to get the kids to the clubs either before or after the show depending on the hours in the clubs that first night so they can check them out. Does anybody know what the hours are for the families to drop in that first night? Shelley

We are so busy these coming weeks....between school, hockey and my intership week!

I think it would work well to introduce them sat night....we too have early seating, so we could figure out a time that would work. What time are you getting to the port? We don't have that set yet...but we would like to be there early.

Sandi

How about if we do a mini DIS meet at the mickey pool on Sat? we plan on doing lunch on the boat, then the pool....the kids could meet there, and any other kids looking to meet friends.

Sandi, that sounds great, we are planning to do lunch and then let the boys swim if the weather is nice. I hope some others will be able to meet up with us as well. Shelley

We'll look for you at the pool, but it will be mobbed. We have ds7 and ds3. We just got 16" of snow in PA, so looking forward to the cruise.

Here's hoping for a snow day tommorrow!!

I am dreaming of sunshine and white sand beaches.......

we booked through DU last year, and got a great quote...2900/75 shipboard credit, for two adults, two kids.....

I thought it was great compared to what the disney site quoted! Next year, same dates, same category was almost 1000 more on DU. So.....since I booked last year when I was still working, and now I am a fulltime student, I don't see much hope in going again anytime soon.....
Sandi,
i was just rereading some of the posts and is this canadian dollars or u.s. dollars? That is a great price. I noticed you didn't say which category but still, great price. We only booked 5.5 months in advance so it was pretty pricy. We actually looked at pricing for Nov 2006 but it was only 600 dollar difference (total) so it was worth the 600 bucks to "move up the holiday.

I would love to meet up with some of you but not sure what our schedule will be. We've got to potentially line up to book another ressie for Palo so my brother can experience that too. Night probably would not work for me since we have late seating and wait listed for early. I'll try to make it. You have my room number, drop me a note and let me know if there are any other meetings???!!!!

Even so....it was still pretty good, due to the exchange rate being so good lately!!

Next year same week, same cat is almost 1000 more on DU. I don't really understand why the price is so much more! At the price we are paying now....I can justify it, but not at the new prices....

I don't know when we will cruise again....but I am sure I will try to find a way!

I have another question for all you experienced cruisers: My DS3 is potty trained, but still having accidents. Should I keep him out of the club altogether? At home he can spend a day in underpants, but when he has a party to go to where I know he'll be excited, I usually throw on a pull up just in case.

MeRiVan:

The kids clubs are excellent at stopping and forcing all the kids to use the bathroom. It's not one of those things where the kids just play and play and play and forget to go. Every 2 hours or so they stop for potty breaks.

So if you're worried about him getting so excited and forgetting to go, he should be good. We're having a much different problem with our DD3. She was completely potty trained - for about 6 months - when she became constipated. We've been dealing with lots of problems, and she's back in pull ups because she has no control over it. She's under a doctor's care, so I could fill out a medical form. However, they may really limit DH and I, and I don't know if that's necessary. We're trying everything, and it's so frustrating.

Anyway, I think if he does have a couple of accidents, I've read they may not let him come back. Lots of parents talk about stopping by the clubs themselves to make sure their child goes. I hope this helps.

So, if he's wearing a pull up, he can't come in?

No, they won't let him in. Supposedly, they are watching for pull ups. I don't know why, some say it's health regulations.

Check out a couple of discussions...

Try not to stress about it.. As many point out, you can come and check on him. You can also stay and watch, as often as you want. I'm worried too. I don't want her to get kicked out. I know she's looking forward to being in the club like her sister did last year.

Ok we're in the deep freeze now! I absolutely can't wait to go now...it's -30...MINUS 30 and that's celcius with a wind chill factor making it -45C....for our american friends...that's -49F. brrrrrrr

I knew it!!!! I phoned my TA yesterday to check on the status of our cruise documents and mentioned that I knew that some of the people on our cruise have received their cruise document last week. So she phones Air Canada Vacations and they told her that they haven't been issued. It makes me mad that she insinuated that I was lying!!!! Apparently, she is going to phone back today to see when they are arriving. Geez. my luck?

I don't want to get all stressed about it either. SO I'm assuming that if we dont' receive them before we go that DCL knows we are on the cruise and that we will be able to board the ship without documents? I've printed off all the forms from the website and filled them in, so I should be ok???? Please say yes!!!!!

I am sure you will be fine. Our docs came yesterday...I can't believe it is only 2 weeks away. Of course my plans of dropping >10 lbs before the cruise didn't work out LOL.
