Way Early Roll Call For March 4, 2006 Eastern.........

Count us in the obsession game - girls have been talking about nothing but the cruise, and of course, their mom is helping with that.

Yesterday, the girls were running around in pirate outfits playing "Pirate Night." Yikes!

My hubby and I just got back from 6 days in Vegas. Now that we are home, I can get into full cruise obsession mode!! Haven't gone as far as pulling out clothes or suitcases yet, but I have started mentally making packing lists. The paper versions will begin soon!!

My husband just caught me doing this instead of doing homework....yikes...he thinks I have a sickness and am in need of intervention!

I also spent last weekend trying on most of my 5 year olds summer clothes because he has taken a growth spurt recently and nothing seems to fit anymore. Our kids do not know that we are going on the cruise so he thought it was a little odd that we were trying on shorts and t-shirts when he is still wearing a snow suit when out playing. I have not dug out any suitcases yet but probably will start to pack a few weeks before so I am not trying to do it all a few days before we go. We leave in 5 weeks today to go to Disney for a few days before the cruise, now I am starting to get excited. Also welcome to the Mcmanus clan- your kids are the exact same age as mine (DS-5 AND DS-8) Shelley

Welcome McManus clan.

Add me to the list of compulsives that have the suitcases out and started packing. I think the only thing left to pack for us is clothes...i just didn't want those to be wrinkled. I have my printed list already (revised the one on this site to suit us) and check off stuff that's already in the suitcase. i will probalby even bring the list with me to make sure I "check off" stuff to put back so I don't forget something on the ship.

We were going to cruise in Nov. 2006 but decided "just in case" and that we couldn't wait that long, we'd go in March. Well that "just in case" news is here. We'll be 11 weeks along when we cruise. I didn't start showing last time until I was about 5 months and already this one is different. I hope my summer clothes will fit because I won't have anything that will!!!

Congrats Qball!!! Have you been sick? Will your cruising plans change much?

We've thought a lot about a possible #3, and I keep thinking how the cruise would be different if I was pg. You know, no steam room, no (or just a little) alcohol, etc. Hope you weren't really looking forward to the Rainforest room!!

Congrats Qball!!

I hope for your sake that we have calm seas!!

Happy planning all!

Add us to the list: me, DH, DS 5 and DS 7 (almost 8).

This will be our 2nd time on the Magic (went last year for DS' winter break)
I'd be happy to answer any questions. Looking forward to the Eastern as we did the western last year.

And congrats Qball! I cruised when I was pregnant with my first son. I really enjoyed it- all that food, anything you want, and you can justify it that you are eating for 2!

Amanda

This is our first cruise, and we are getting really excited!

On your last cruise, how much "down" time did you all do? We are really looking forward to relaxing, and it seems like the cruise could be busier than the parks! I am hoping to really relax, and not be too overwhealmed

We had a lot of down time- but we chose to relax and skipped some activities. DH and I have been on several cruises pre-kids. We skipped Key West ( not a lot for kids to do) and used the time to swim onboard. Our kids loved the kids club so DH and I spent a lot of time at the adult pool. But you are right- if you try to do everything, you will wear yourself out.
I recommend bringing a highlighter. Every night you will get a Navigator listing the next day's activities. Highlight what you don't want to miss. That way you can be sure to plan some down time.
Amanda

I completely agree with Amanda - in fact, when we registered our DD in the club, a CM sat down with us and highlighted the "best" things for my 3 year old to do. It's really important to pick and choose what you really want to do. Otherwise, you'll drive yourself crazy.

Our favorite memory is relaxing by the adult pool while the kids were in the clubs. That's what I keep reminding myself as I find myself getting overwhelmed by all the details of planning.

Hi ladies
Thanks for your well wishes. We dont' plan to change our cruise unless something medical is wrong. Good thing we decided to go in March vs Nov 2006. We were sort of surprised as it's not our luck to have this happen litteraly on the first try. Only things is I hope I don't have morning sickness or have motion sickness. First prenatal is on Jan. 30th.

Welcome Amanda and family. one more month to go!!!!

Qball, congratulations on your new news, hope all is well. Also, Welcome Amanda-are your DS's getting excited? I have two boys almost the exact same age 5 (almost 6) and 8 we have not told them yet about the trip because we want it to be a surprise but I am finding it harder to keep it a secret as it gets closer. Shelley

Shelley:
If you do break down and tell your boys let me know. My DS almost 8 told me we wished he had someone on the cruise to talk to ahead of the time on the computer.
Amanda

QBall,
I just realized your cabin, 2122, is the one we were in last year on this cruise. It was adjoining with my parents in 2124. We rebooked for this same week and this year we're in 2612 and 2614 which is on the other side of the ship but still close to the elevators. We loved this location, the aft elevators didn't seem busy and you could walk up a flight or two to 2 of the restaurants. Also very convenient to the soda station and topsiders. Looking forward to seeing and meeting everyone in 5 weeks.

Diane,
That's good to know. I've read good and bad things about it. Our other choice (can't remember the number) was at the other end of the ship...the very last room on the other side. Since you stayed in that room how are the beds set up? It's me, DH, DD4 and my brother. I was wondering if DD will have to share a bed with her uncle??!!!

Susan,
The sofa will fold out to a twin bed and a bunk will fold down out of the ceiling, has a bed rail and ladder. My 2 sons slept in these beds, but either would be big enough to hold an adult as well. Here's a website to show the fold down bed, ********************** and go to staterooms, there's a picture.

I can't believe it's getting sooo close!!

I am so looking forward to this, since the temps have dropped here! It was so cold today, I just kept telling myself, 5 weeks from now....

Can't believe it is only 5 weeks! :cool1: I better ramp up my diet and exercise plans NOW!
