water taxi to downtown disney

I saw on one of the maps of downtown disney, that there was a water taxi station, where can i catch one to take over to downtown disney and is it free, and how frequent do they run, and what do they look like is it just a big boat for how many people?

You can take the water taxi, but it is primarily designed as a means for guests of Port Orleans, Saratoga Springs, or Old Key West to get to and from DTD. I believe there is only one stop at DTD, over near the Marketplace.

"Boats depart daily from French Quarter every 20 minutes from 11:00am to 4:00pm. and every 10 minutes from 4:00pm to 11:00pm. Due to popularity and limited seating capacity, you may experience an extended wait before boarding. All guests may have to exit boat at the destination and reboard at the queue line for return trip."

I am glad you include the item about deboarding at the end of the trip and reboarding.

There is a sign at each station that tells you this. While they are more than happy to let you take a trip to see the resorts, you must also be mindful, there are resort guests waiting.

This past year, two guys opted to ride it down to POR and back. At POR, they absolutely refused to get off, because "the policy was not clear" to them. It is very clear; that you would need to de-board and re-board so that passengers can get on that have been waiting at the resorts.

Well, we rode allllll the way back to POR, with them complaining we stopped again at POFQ and wanted to get back so they could call a manager and complain.

Well, wouldn't you know it, when we arrived at DTD, there was a manager and security waiting. The boat captain had called ahead and they were escorted off the water taxi and off the property.

Here is the link; go about halfway down to the Port Orleans and DVC Ferries.

Also, they cannot fill the boat up at each stop for POR and SSR, since they go to other resorts. POR and POFQ are together and SSR and THV are together.

They have to leave room for people getting on at each stop, so it won't always be at capacity.

There are 3 docks at DTD: Marketplace, Pleasure Island, & West Side (between La Nouba & House of Blues).

There are 4 boat routes:

• Red flag is a local DTD water shuttle
• Yellow flag runs from the Marketplace dock to PO FQ & Riverside
• Green flag runs from PI dock to OKW
• Blue flag runs from PI dock to SSR, stopping at both the main resort & the Treehouses

The resort boats start at 10 a.m., with last boat leaving DTD at 11:30 p.m.

The local shuttle circles among the 3 docks from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and provides express service between each pair of docks from 4:30 p.m until 11:30 p.m.

We took this once from SSR and found it really pleasant. But it was a full boat, every seat was taken. It's a nice way to get to DTD if you're not in a hurrt.

Can you use this if you are staying at other disney resorts, can you park your car at POFQ and take the water taxi to DTD, we are staying at the beach club and the poly

I suppose you could, but why would you want to. Why not just drive to DTD, it will be a heck of alot faster. The boats throughout Disney resorts are not usually the fastest mode of transportation.

And we don't stay there.....we're usually at WL but bus to the MK and then bus to POFQ for the meatball sandwiches...then we catch the entertainment at the Scat Cat Club, few drinks and then we catch the boat to DTD....we might catch a movie there or just walk thru and then take the bus back to WL.....no problems whatsoever....
