I had a GV at OKW reserved next week for a five day weekend. 248 points, had to cancel it today, holding account, for the first time ever.

These points are going to expire in Sept, the only time between xmas and Sept that I would go to WDW is Jan or maybe Feb. All these points, no time to use them, fresh off my AKL concierge stay, I figure a weeknd in Jan will burn some of these points, get me back and we will even just make it me and the wife.

I call for any availability in any monorail hotel concierge, first choice GF, Cont, second....the only Fri and Sa nights available in Jan is 10,11 Poly, 24,25 poly.....AKL also had 24,25, Dolphin had all dates.

Is the Poly the worst of all concierge areas?

I thought this was interesting, all hotels had all other classes of rooms available. I was shocked to find out that the concierge sells out first like this....and people wonder why it is so expensive, well its their own darn fault, if they didn't book concierge so much, it wouldn't be so expensive!!!!

Oh well, I digress, so 180 points later, I have Jan 10,11 booked in the poly concierge. I have 68 points left in holding.

I once stayed in a CONCIERGE MOTEL 6............it had "vibra-fingers" in both of the beds..........10 minutes for 25 cents........such a deal :) :) :) :) :) .........

The Poly concierge has a good repuation. The thing people seem to like the best is the small plastic bottles of water that you can take to the parks!

Richyams,
Sorry to read about your point dilemma. We have done both poly and akl concierge. I really liked them both, to me the akl concierge area was noticably newer and seemed a bit, well, classier. The poly area was a bit dated and worn with lots of kids running around (mind you, one of them was mine!) I liked the akl appetizers better, too. The poly was still very enjoyable, though, we even wound up adding an extra night. What gets you at the poly concierge are the lagoon view rooms, the view is truly incredible. And you can make yourself a baileys and coffee in the evening and step out on the beach to watch the electric water pageant. Though the poly is dated, there is still alot to fall in love with. I hope you have a great time!:D

Oh Rich, I'm sorry that your plans fell through.

I'm sure that you'll enjoy the Poly, and Concierge is always a treat.

It shouldn't be too hard to use 68 points between now and September. (You can always give them to me if you're really, really stuck.;) ;) )

We've stayed at GF and Poly Concierge and the service at both were equal. The GF's lounge is nice (main building) since you cal look down at the lobby. Poly lounge is has a very nice very of the lake and MK.

I won't visit NYC unless I'm able to get reservations on the Concierge level of THE PLAZA :D :D :D ........

We did the Poly con on points last may...... the view was great (laggon) and the food was good too......... Not hot tub though.... but they have bubble jets on the far end and music that plays underewater...... though I dont know the purpose of that...... LOL I didnt care for the staff there, but to each their own.

Sorry you had to cancel the GV........ ((((((hugs))))))

Just an idea, if you can't book those points: Offer to rent the points at a reasonable rate to the person who can write the wittiest mini-essay entitled "why OKW is the best DVC resort". You could get some cash and more ammunition to boot! Diana

I've stayed at Poly concierge, Swan concierge , Yacht Club concierge and Contemporary tower club (mini concierge). Out of the 4, I think I enjoyed the Contemporary tower club the best (only had breakfast and afternoon offerings and they were in a hallway by the elevators to boot). Then, Polynesian (yes the rooms are a little dated - still clean, comfortable and still looked nice) - Polynesian had very nice food offerings all day, relaxed feeling, big tv, good size lounge and the hotel was the best themed. Polynesian is getting a rehab this spring.
Swan had the best bed hands down...oh, so comfy but the food offerings were limited and did not vary from day to day. Still nice however.
I think I enjoyed the Yacht Club the least. Very nice room, nice lounge with good food offerings, but "stuffy" to me. Only the kids had a small TV. The lounge is crammed with little tables and chairs to hold the masses of people who come through. It just didn't have a "relaxed feel" in my opinion. Many people however rave over the Yacht CLub conceirge.
If I was booking today and had a choice, I'd choose the Polynesian again. Have a great time.
