So with all these cheating threads, I thought I would post a recent experience and see what your take is on this.

I was at a company meeting in another country. One night at a local bar, I struck up a conversation with one of the persons hired to perform at the meeting (so this person does not work for my company).

He proceeded to tell me how he and his wife have an "open" marriage and that if they find someone they are interested in sleeping with he/she needs approval by the other spouse.

So he said, "If I wanted to sleep with you I would just have to call my wife and she would most likely say yes." I told him whatever works for his marriage is fine but it would not work for me and he dropped it.

In telling some of my friends this they thought that was his way of "testing the waters." I can be a bit oblivious with stuff like this, so what do you all think?

Were you wearin' heels? ;)

I would have told him you had a similar relationship, but you needed to clear it with your doctor first.

Duh, what part of "if I get permission to sleep with you" did you not understand? Sorry not being harsh, but I am actually surprised that you would have any doubt?

It seemed like a hypothetical question at the time!

and I was drinking some wonderful Italian wine, so I could have been slow on the uptake.

Ha ha, I almost posted that I was wearing my zebra heels!

So it looks like I am oblivious.

OMGOsh then its a no brainer, you have to give us these details. Not that it wasn't already obvious.

Those things are like dog whistles.

Oh, yeah, Mama. Mr. Open Marriage was trying to open you up. ;)

You little vixen!

This cracked me up!

I do feel like a dunce. At the end of the meeting he gave me his business card to keep in touch. I honestly didn't think about it till I mentioned it to my girlfriends.

definitely were getting propositioned

and when you tell your husband about it leave out the zebra heels part because he may just make them disappear :lmao:

he was testing the waters for your reaction. I would even go so far as to say he was stretching the truth as well. I would guess that he was attempting to eliminate the guilt you may feel for his wife for his extracurricular experiences.

Propositioner and a liar. I doubt he calls his wife to "ask permission".

God I hate skanky men.:crazy2:

Well, it was never a consideration for me.

I could care less what kind of marriage he has. I know what kind I have.

I thought the weird thing was the "asking permission." I don't know anyone in an open relationship (at least that they have shared), so not sure about the protocol but how awkward would that call be?

Some people are "swingers" but I tend to agree with the others that said that was probably just a cover story.

Just wonderin' why and when the wife that is supposedly okay with the open marriage concept would veto the husband sleeping around.

OP, sorry you made me laugh :) It couldn't be more obvious you were baited.:lmao:
