And I still see 90 miles from me they still have the scrubbing bubbles at K-Mart..... didn't ya'll say that they got cancelled??
wendy in marietta,ga

My Scrubbing Bubbles wasn't cancelled.

Nothing new here...and nothing cancelled. UPS dropped off a 3rd kit for Fuel-Up. Its looking like a warehouse again around here. lol Luckily DH is gone for the weekend with guards....so he won't have to look at the boxes.

There is a new event for 3/4 at Target. Pepsi Jazz. Should be an easy event. I love this board!

Got it!! Thanks. :thumbsup2 Yes, we did this one last year. Looks like they added a new flavor too I think.

I want to pick a weekend to go away with DH, but at this rate, I don't have any free weekends. :rotfl:

Had to choose between Diet Pepsi Jazz or Sheba/Fresh Step for 3/4. Hmmm... Drive farther, lug a cooler to a store that I've always had 'issues' with but have the event go faster... or drive about a mile away, kit (reliably) at the store but boring as heck... I picked the Cat Litter... it scored me a $50 Walmart GC last time so what the heck!!

Is this at a Super Target? It's not showing up for me and there's no Super Target within 100 miles of me.

Mine aren't Super Targets & they had the event available....

Thanks drgnfly30. It just must be up for Spi fokes. Maybe later for us with TMT. I'll keep checking. So far I only have the Scrubbing Bubbles for March.

Can we talk about your sales technique?

I know this isn't a competition, but I always seem to sell less than anyone posting #s here. :confused3 Often, when I total up my sales, I'm surprised at the low # sold on some products. Sometimes I think I have higher expectations on certain products.

In my prior banking & insurance experience, I had a low key sales approach. I was much happier educating the customer on the product, & then let them decide. I didn't try to "close" the sale. I know peoples $ is tight, I don't try to talk them out of it. Customer always liked me. I was very popular with them. They trusted me.

So....I guess I do the same with sampling. I smile. Get people to come to my table. Talk about product & price...throw in my own personal spin. People are friendly & chat it up. Hmmm, that's good. BUT, no sale. :confused3 My last 2 events -- warm delights & candy bars I guess really surprised me the most. My stores are average income for MA - possibly even a little bit lower average for MA. But probably higher than National average. Definitely not the wealthy Boston suburbs. Some stores mostly white middle class non-management workers - English speaking. Some stores a mix of nationalities -- and a significant amount of non-english speaking.

So, are you "closing" the sale? ex: "How many candy bars would you like to purchase today?" Are you in affluent stores that people don't need to even think about the cost of something?

Just wondering what I'm doing wrong, or what I can improve on? :confused3 Sometimes, I even wonder if its me. I mean my weight. I'm not HUGE. But honestly, maybe an overweight person selling fattening food is a sales killer. lol That's why I don't do the SlimFast demos. lol

Splash,

I can relate to what you are saying. When I use to work exclusively for Target. I literally could sell anything. I mean I would talk and smooze with the guest. Many time I would have repeat shoppers and really enjoy being in the store.

But now that I am at Walmart. I get more people sampling and more interaction with customers BUT LESS SALES. I mean I dont know if the clientele is different at Walmart. I dont shop at Walmart, but people will eat your food but they will not buy stuff. So,I dont think it is your weight, I just think people are just more budget conscious at Walmart or maybe after the holidays.

My main question at Target was "where is this product located"

My main question at Walmart is " How much is that, oh well we will think about it for next time:worried: "

BtW my kids are building a castle with all of my demo tables in our basement

Splash - I’m a newbie only working two events. With Tassimo, I didn’t stand a chance. I was put next to the last cash register, farthest from the door, but still in the food area. Didn’t sell anything, though some seem interested. Those that were interested thought the price might come down after Christmas. This store was in an area with a lot of seniors which I‘d say a majority was on a fixed income. Maybe if I was in an area where I thought there was a lot of “disposable” income, I might have suggested it as a nice Christmas gift. I can’t imagine those that sold multiple units could have sold one at my event. The store only had two to begin with.

My second event last week, candy bars, went fairly well. Sold around 60 candy bars and 1 mint. After offering them a sample, I let them know they were on sale 3/$1 and those that were interested, seemed to buy three. Definitely didn’t try and close a sale and I only had two of the four products that were featured. Once again, this store had a lot of senior traffic in getting their prescriptions. Many didn’t want a sample as they were diabetic or didn’t have teeth. Plus the weather was crappy, around 0.

Have no idea what to expect Sunday doing the Choxie. I’ll be at a Target closer to my home and in more of a “family” area and middle income. If I set up in the food area like I’m suppose to, the customer will be getting their sample on their way out the door. At that point it’s too late to get a sale - 99% of the time. I do think the product will sell because of Valentines day if I‘m in the right spot. I’m thinking about asking to set up in the candy area just so I can have sales. If Target has high expectations for this event, from us, then put us where the product is. I think the candy section is close enough to the food court, I might get by with it.

Personally, I doubt you’re doing anything wrong. From the photo of your last event, I wouldn’t think or notice anything about your weight. You look like a very nice, personable person whom I’d gladly get a sample from.

Demographics has to be a big factor in sales and if you don’t have the “right” product for the area, then I don’t know how you could increase your numbers.

Queue up Ghost World, for me... "But ma'am, for $.15 more you can have another package of the wonderful easy to use... Kotex Pads... Oh one more thing, Do you want wings with that?" :thumbsup2 :lmao:

I know what you mean about being overweight... its funny though, but I don't think that has much to deal with it. Now if we were selling gym memberships... or trying too, I know I wouldn't fair so well.

If you think about it all the good chefs out there are overweight and they sell their crap left and right. Its just comes down to cliental that visits the store. I have found the free stuff is the hardest to give away!

Good points by both. Yes, I'm mostly Walmart, & locations for set-up in the store vary by store. Sometimes its near the product, sometimes its as people walk into the store. That could have alot to do with it. When I'm at Target, yup, its always while the people are on the way out of the store. Stupid.

And well, I just can't compare myself to Mr Brivers. I'm sure he just charms all the ladies. We can't even compete with that. ;) And B, you don't look overweight. ????
Well, off to bed. I've got Nascar Fuel-Up at Walmart Sat, Sun & Tues. We'll see how that goes. Good luck everyone.

OK... I may be regretting choosing the Sheba/Fresh Step over Diet Pepsi Jazz event... I just read the instructions.. in addition to the sniff jars which btw between the two events I did last time only ONE person sniffed & they were about 7 yrs old; I get to OPEN the Sheba cat food & place on a plate (replacing every so often for Freshness)... ummmm I can just SEE this.. the stuff will stink like fish or something horrid & I'll have people (joking AND seriously) attempting to 'sample' the cat food themselves.... ugh... if there's any consolation, they cut the event from 5 to 4 hours.

lol, I was wondering why you picked that one. Well, if the people decide to "test" it, be sure to be kind & give them their privacy. ;) :rotfl:

I just picked a the Pepsi Jazz to for 3/4 yeh now I have 2 events for March :cool1:

Splash I don't think weight has anything to do with our jobs. I find if you look aproachable and friendly and are willing to talk or smooze. People will buy. I find a lot of people who shop with their kids pick this stuff up. Call it kid pressure. There is a huge difference between Walmart and Target customers. I personally don't think budget has anything to do with it. Walmart around here is the same prices as Target. Believe in yourself you are doing a good job even if no one buys. Positive energy here since no Ms negative around anymore;)

Could one of you kind folks with SPI please check zip code 43235 in a 10 mile range and see if Pepsi comes up. I'm with TMT and only have Scrubbing Bubbles for March. I'm going to check out the new WalMart today and see if there's anyone there doing a demo. Thanks.

All I see for you in a 10mile range is Pillsbury Bake off on Morse Road.

OMG....Walmart was MOBBED today. :scared1: You would have thought it was Christmas or something. They had all the registers open all the while I was there...and there were STILL lines. People were like..."look at the lines". :scared1: Not sure if it was because of Valentines day. The card dept was behind me....it was busy, but not a zoo.

Anyway, they didn't have Fiber One bars, so I did Nature Valley bars. Went over well. Almost sold out...but stock wasn't really high to begin with. They didn't have Nature Valley Oats & Honey cereal, but they did have new Nature Valley Cinnamon cereal (& it was pictured on our posters). I didn't really want to do boring plain Cheerios as alternate, so I did Nature Valley Cinnamon. They only had 7 boxes. I bought 3. AND to my surprise, I sold the other 4 in the first hour. So, I gave up my 2 unopened cinnamon boxes for more sales...and then switched to boring Cheerios.

It went kind of slow...but it wasn't the worst. Ugh....I wore my Crocs for the first time, and my legs are killing me. Tomorrow, back to my shoes & anti-fatigue mat. :thumbsup2

What is the funniest / strangest / oddest thing someone has said to you while working?

Mine is: During one food event, out of the blue, this lady tells me she likes my eyebrows. And wants to know if I shape them myself.
So...tell me....is this some kind of pick up line I don't know about? :rotfl:
