Want to buy in but what do I do Now!

Have made the decision to purchase into the DVC. But how do you compare resale vs Saratoga Springs? And is there a new Resort on the horizon centered around golf? Because that is diffently the one that I would hold out for!

Does anyone have tips on where to start or how to compare? I am not getting much help from the things that I have read. I want to know the dollars and cents of being a member. Not having luck with getting any one from DVC to call me either. Which is not a good thing. I keep trying to dismiss it because it is the holidays. Maybe they have all taken time off to enjoy their family's and Disney.

I looked for "Timeshare for Dummies" but I couldn't find that either. Can anyone offer me any help or advice?

Looking at needing about 250 points. Does anyone pay less for points than their home loan?

The golf resort Eagle Pines is on the back burner. Probably at least 5 years away unless things change.

SSR is at a golf course.

OKW is surrounded by a golf course.

so both would suit you.

SSR membership stops in 2054 - the others stop in 2042 - so you get more years.

the location is similar to OKW - bus transportation to the parks - SSR is closer to DD.

If you buy through DVC you can only get SSR right now. If you buy re-sale it would get you a bigger selection of resorts to choose from.

Like the above poster, SSR and OKW are the way to go for golfing. In fact, I think that the resort in the location SSR is being built over was know as the some kind of golf resort before it was a part of Disney Instatute, thought my memory isnt so clear.

I would reccommend buying SSR through Disney based on your notes. Since SSR has a longer DVC life, you are actually getting something tangible for your extra dollar: 12 more years of vacation and probably at some point (sooner than 2042 when your extra life kicks in) a better resale value. Its not like choosing between BCV new from Disney and OKW resale where both contracts end at the same time. And Disney makes it very easy.

Buying resale, you have to consider the additional costs above the price per point:closing costs and annual dues. These are negotiable, but still add to the price. There is also the whole ROFR to get by. You could spend a long time getting your hands on an actual contract.

If you do go after something resale, I dont reccommend the timeshare store. Our whole attempt to buy a HH contract through them was shadey. Jaki with atimeshare.com was very very helpful to us, when our broker with the other place was giving us the run around. And we never did try to buy through her.
