Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

do you think the updated rooms are worth around ~40 dollars a night more then the dolphin for the dates im looking at?
Personally, yes. I would pay around $50/night more for Swan. The bathrooms are bigger, room is nicer, and the Swan itself is smaller and a bit closer to the boardwalk. I didn't realize how much the size difference is until I stayed at both, and Swan really is much easier to navigate and get around.

Are you using the Bonvoy app, the Marriott web? Try the Escape Your Way Family Package, your Double Queen should be discounted and not have a resort fee.

Or pickup the phone and Local: 407-934-4000 Reservations: 1-888-828-8850 (In house at the resort) when they are busy you may roll-over to the general Marriott reservation number which not a good option.

Sorry Dave but I'm only seeing package rates when looking at cash bookings.

Keep in mind I'm trying to reserve with Bonvoy points. There are far less options. But perhaps calling in when booking connecting rooms with points may be a way to save on one resort fee.

Does anyone know if connecting rooms are common? I hate when hotels do a rug pull of sorts when you show up and they don't have connecting rooms but instead gave you adjoining rooms. When you have small kids, it makes a big difference.

All the more reason for me to strongly prefer the 1-bedroom suite.

If you can’t find point availability for a suite maybe book a room on points and call and see if you can pay cash to upgrade to a suite? Make sure to call that in house number above. If they say no you can cancel so it’s not a big deal.

I am wondering what/how the Platinum Elite breakfast is working at the Swan recently? At Reserve we’ve been able to order continental room service. We’ve also been able to save up our daily 2 vouchers to use 4 of them on a given day (family of 4) towards the sit down restaurant continental option. Are either/both of these possible at the Swan? How about quick service at Java?

We just returned from 4 nights at the Swan. We had 1 voucher for each day. We used the voucher the first 3 mornings at Java; they took $20 off the charges each time. The last morning we went to Rosa’s and had 2 full buffets, at $29.99 each (if I remember right). Our server took approximately $36 off the bill (she said that was “about the cost of one buffet”). I don’t quite understand why she credited that amount— the continental buffet was $21.99 and I expected her to take that amount off, as they have done in the past. But I was happy with that and certainly wasn’t going to question it.

We also had a late dinner one night at Rosa’s. I continue to be impressed by Rosa’s, both the food and the service.

I’ve been seeing some posts on social media about ants in the room at the Swan and Dolphin. Have any of you encountered trails of ants in the rooms?

No not at the Swan but we have had them at other Disney resorts over the years. Guests bring food in, and there are always crumbs. This is Florida so there are lots, and lots of ants wanting to invade any interior space.

Any time you see ants you need to call and they will treat the room, and or move you to another room. The ant issue is most prevalent in 1st floor rooms but they can move quickly to almost any floor.

This makes sense. We typically ask for 1st floor rooms. Don’t like to fool with elevators. But, we will ask for higher floors, especially in Orlando resorts.

How old and which hotel specifically? A few years ago I had ant issues in 2 rooms at swan, they were coming from the walls via electrical outlets. Didn’t see anyone else here have that issue then or since so it was not widespread. Swan moved me each time I notified them (first two rooms were one on top of the other). I’ve had 2 stays since at Swan in the last 1.5 years and no issues.

Like, it’s FL. Bug issues are gonna happen, what matters to me is how the hotel handles it.

Are there ground floor rooms at the Swan? I’ve stayed in one at the Dolphin, but not at the Swan. Never even occurred to me that there might be.

The posts I saw were last week in a S&D Facebook group. Poster had them at the Dolphin during a recent stay. Others piled on saying they had experienced them at both hotels.

I was just wondering if the recent Swan remodel had rectified the ant situation, at least for now.

Does anyone know what a Grand Deluxe Nightly Fireworks room at the Dolphin would be like? I don’t know where that would be in the building, if it’s convenient to anything, etc.

is that where one would make a reservation at Garden Grove for Thanksgiving, or on an open dining site? It’s usually only opened for breakfast, right?
Yes normally the Garden Grove is only open for Breakfast on select days (Closed Tuesday - Wednesday).

For Thanksgiving dining I would suggest you call 407-934-1609 directly for Swan, Swan Reserve, and Dolphin dining. The Garden Grove does not normally take reservations for breakfast. So it is not on Disney ADR system or even on OpenTable.com

Also while the MDE Dining is not currently working the web version is up and working: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dine-res/availability for other Dining reservations.

Dave.
