Any solo travellers that walk rundisney 5k’s? I have never walked any rundisney race but planning on walking SS 5k as solo traveller. Curious if there are many solo travellers walking. Let me know what it’s like to walk the 5k’s thanks.

Hi!
It is an awesome experience… I have walked the 5k, the 10k and the half m.

The 5k isn’t timed, so no balloon ladies… just enjoy en ambiance, take some photos and raise your arms high when you cross the finish line..

I’m in the introvert side, I dont talk much to others but every now and then I talk to people in the corrals, or go to some of the meet ups (look for Rise and Run podcast info), and have fun talking…

Don't forget to use the medal after to the parks!! You earned it

I did the princess 5K and the 1/2 a few years back. As a solo runner, I had an amazing time. The 5k is not timed, so I had fun and explored epcot and got some great pictures.
Pre-race while in the corals, there are LOTS of folks happy to make small talk with and pass the time. (Disney bubble is no joke and hard to explain to non Disney fans) The longer distance races have 'pacer groups' for Jeff Galloway method so I found my pacing group and met some awesome folks there as well. There's music, pre-race show, fire works ect. During the race, people went off and did their own thing. After the race I got my pineapple seltzer banana and fake cheese box and met some more fun folks while waiting in lines for the after race events (food, pics, bus).

I found the 5K walk itself a tad chaotic; on the FB threads everyone stressed race etiquette (walkers Right, Runners left, signaling ect...) and made me fearful of getting swept. I'd say unless you find another solo who wants to match paces, prepare to just do your thing and have fun. I wore my shokz and had a playlist ready, but the live music and atmosphere for the 5k I turned it off after about 10 minutes and embraced the fun. Don't skip character lines, they move quickly even though they are long. Once I adjusted and went with the flow, no issues.

After following FB threads I was so anxious about raising my arms, or being Wazowski'd. Can't say enough great things about the photo pass team

I want to walk the Princess 5K next year if I can get in. I have just recently started walking regularly in an attempt to build stamina and speed. I can only comfortably walk 1 mile right now. I am very much a newbie at this.

You'll get there! Takes time. And the disney bubble really helps as well! The process to get in for a race is quite challenging, it took me a few different registration events to get in. There's an app called telegram that will alert you of random openings after initial day / sell out, so if you dont get in on the first try, dont be discouraged and know that there are options. If you have the time, see if your town offers walking groups. I know in NH where I live there are a few walking groups on the local trails to help support and hold one another accountable.
