Walmart Black Friday - if you have gone, how bad is it?

I saw the list of the black friday sales and there is a digital camera for a really good price. So I am considering going. How bad is it? How early do I really need to get there? Is it worth saving $48? I would be going to a Walmart in Wilmington NC since I will be visiting my Mom.

On Black Friday...about 5 years ago, on our way to the Target line at 5a.m.....my mom & I passed the Walmart a block away. We saw that line outside & said "No way, ever". Target's line was only half of that.

But where do I see this list of Black Friday sales. Help please?

last year i wanted to get the dvds they had on sale. I ended up buying something like 20 movies for $50. (they were good too). I parked, walked straight to the movies, didn't look at anything else, lucked out to walk up as they were opening a new register, paid and left all under 1/2 hour.

It really depends how many stores are in the area (does everyone only have a couple stores to go to?), what's on sale and how good a deal it is, and are they giving away any other promotions. The big line last year was Filene's. People started lining up at 4 am from what I heard to receive a $15. store credit with no strings attached.

Ugggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
You must get up super early and wait for an hour or more. once you endure that trama, it's a mad house in there. Have your list ready go the night before and know exactly where you are going in the store because they run out of things very quickly. Have a strategy to get through the hords.

I don't think we will do it this year unless they have some amazing buys. Even then I'd probably just shop around rather than go through it again.

it is the day after Thanksgiving when Christmas shopping officially begins. The stores open extremely early with all kinds of sales, promotions, and give aways. It can be fun if your that kind of person. I've gone a couple years now and always have a good time. Last year hubby went out with me. We left the house at 6:00, went to four stores and finished our shopping by 11:00, went out to lunch and back home by 12:00 to relax the rest of the day.
