Walking to Disney Challenge

This sounds like a fun way to get more exercise.

It's 1140.7 miles to POP from here via my parents house. That's the way I'll be going when I actually get to go. I want to "walk" there before I actually go, so I'll be wearing a pedometer and counting all miles from it. 4.2 miles today!!

Do you all wear pedometers just during your daily activity and during work, or are you just calculating actual designated 'exercise' time?

And thanks Intenseblue for the clippie :)

Before I had a pedometer I timed a walk of a known distance - .5 miles = 10 minutes. So, for every 20 minutes I walked I counted 1 mile.

It's been a few days since I checked in. I'm trying to average 2 miles a day. Yesterday I did my Curves, and then did a 2 mile stroll after supper! :cool1: Curves again today, and I need to go update my siggie. 84 km. gone by...and I'm under the 2000 more to go! Ooooh! I see a bank just up ahead at Highgate. I guess that I'd better go deposit my $$$ to the Mickey Money ING account. :rotfl:

I made my goal for this week :cool1: I wanted to reach the 44 mile mark and have done so with two days to go. We've had beautiful weather this week and along with the time change to DST I've had the opportunity to get outside more often and longer. I walked almost 4 miles total on both Tuesday and Wednesday. :cheer2:

I just bought MS Streets and Trips. Its awsome! I'm having a blast figuring out the mileage of different routes around my town. What a great find!

Progress: I've made it through Hartford, CT and am heading south :sunny:

I have MS S&T 2001. I can still update construction info for driving directions, but newer streets and addresses aren't available. One of these days I'll upgrade, but tis version is sufficient for now.

I'm almost at York PA on PA Route 30 - just a few miles from I-83.

34.8/1332. A little slow this week. Skipped a r/w and did a bike ride to help dh not over stress his knee injuries.

Walking to Disney sounds like a great idea to me too. Count me in. But, it's 450 miles and I have only 7 months to get there. I'll be at WDW on October 27th and the Disney Wonder :boat: on October 30th. I'll be walking and taking Karate. I can walk a leisurely mile in 20 minutes so 20 minutes of Karate is easily a mile. Since each class is about 2 hours in length I'm figuring 6 miles per class.

How's everyone doing today? I'm hoping to get outisde to enjoy this glorious day - it's sunny and mid-60's - our first nice weekend in a very long time.

I'll have to squeeze my walk in somewhere between running to the PO (wish it was a little closer, I'd walk - maybe I will any way), cleaning the house and preparing for an overnight guest.

About the same temp here, maybe slightly warmer. We're going to walk around the zoo :) I love my polar bears!

I saw the logo in someone's signature and am intrigued. What a cool idea! This sounds like a great motivator to keep me walking! :)

My 1260.14 mile journey begins today and ends at Disney Cruise Line, Port Canaveral. Yeah! :sunny:

I have another 13 miles to add! That puts me at 26/2465! It's a long way, but every step I take brings me one step closer. :teeth:

A strange week, indeed, for us this week. I have managed to walk a bit...even if it is just from one part of the hospital to the cafeteria. :rotfl: I've completed 90.4 km so far, and that is 56½ miles of my journey. Almost an hour in the car. Are we there, yet? :rotfl2:

I went for a 12 mile run yesterday. I was tempted to blurt out to passerbys, "I'm on my way to Disney" :rotfl2:

I'm just a hair under 10% now

Hi all! I'd like to join in! I'm in Seattle, so this is going to be one heck of a walk, but I'm looking forward to it! My end spot will be the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and I plan to treat myself to a rest by the overlook once I get there.

What a fun idea! I started over the weekend. I have to walk 1590 miles (MN to WDW) and I have 8 miles so far and one year to do it. I dusted off my pedometer hopefully will walk my butt off (planning to lose it somewhere in GA!) ;)

:cool1: I broke the 50 mile barrier!

How are the rest of you doing?

Are you noticing any results from walking? I'm not. If anything I feel even wider around the middle. :confused3 I've cut back on the iced tea and drink more water, but so far I haven't lost a pound or an inch. :( I haven't let that discourage me, realizing that I won't lose the weight in a short amount of time with the amount of walking I've done.

To supplement, I ordered a fitness video from Amazon last week..."10 Minute Solution - Target Tone for Beginners". I'm waiting for it to arrive - I'm actually anxious to give it a try.

I missed the article, but I heard a blurb on the local news the other evening that a local group was Walking to Disney for a fund raiser. I tried searching online, but can't find any info.

SRUAlmn I can't get the little clippie in my sig- help
A few of us replied to this question a few pages back, not sure where exactly - page 11 maybe?
I'm not sure if you can upload the clippie directly on DIS (plutosmyfav, how did you add to your sig?) I saved the clippie to my computer (My Pictures), uploaded it to my storage space at comcast.net (my ISP). I opened the url when stored, right-clicked on the image. selected Properties and highlighted the url of the image. Come to the DIS' UserCP, Edit Signature, click the landscape looking icon, paste the image url and finish.
