Walking through the Quiet Cove Area?

Casinos almost universally allow children to walk through them with their parents. Often times because they are between hotel rooms and the pools. This is no different.

I tend to agree with this in regards to the Dream. On the Wonder, the Adults Only area was contained inside and children could walk past it using the deck along the outside edges. So there was no need to walk through the adult area.

But on the Dream, the entire area is marked as 18 and over, leaving no way to get to the family areas at the front of the ship without walking through it. We did make an effort to avoid using the forward elevators on those decks so that we would not have to walk through the middle of the adult area. But in order to get to the family area at the front of the ship, you had to walk along the outside edges of the adult area.

In this case, I have to agree that the signs are there reminding people that the use of the pool, loungers, even staying in the area is limited to 18 and over. But since there is no other way to get to the forward parts of the ship, they must expect that kids will be walking through there.

So we made sure the kids understood that they had to walk quickly and quietly, and only on the side that lead to the family area, which interestly enough, was marked with a sign indicating it was a family area....as you were leaving the adult area (as if to say "end of quiet zone" or something, LOL).

Since DCL has never stopped anyone from walking through - or has never said a single word about it that I've read reported here, unlike their occasional attempts to enforce other requests/rules they have - I tend to agree with the school of thought that their signs about the area being reserved applies to people hanging out. But that's just me!

On one of our cruises, DCL posted CMs at the elevator lobby and at the entrance by the Cove Cafe. If you were an adult who got off the elevator and headed to the door, the CM made polite chit chat. If you were a child, they advised that this was an adult only area and the child would need to go to a different floor and exit. At the Cove Cafe entrance, they forbid a dad from taking a child into the Cafe to get a beverage, but offered to watch the child while he got his brew.

This happened after a day of several extreme issues--6 year olds in the Quiet Cove pool, parents taking strollers with children into the Cove Cafe (it's a very small area!), etc. and obviously several complaints from adult guests. It obviously is not the normal level of enforcement.

If there were a bar in the center of a hotel with the pool on the other side of it, would it be okay to walk kids through the bar because going around the bar would be inconvenient? I think most of us would say no. Children don't belong in a bar.

If an area is 18 and older, then it's 18 and older. Whether it's walking through, dropping something off, picking something up, or hanging out for 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 3 hours.

Except in this case Disney is not enforcing the rule and it is their rule to enforce, not yours. Your interpretation of the rule is not relevant.

I personally do not think it is a big deal if you are just passing through. I have seen many people do it.
