Walking Club1 3miles 3x week

Tried both. I walk at about a 13-14 min avg and I live in the high desert with LOTS of hills. My typical walk goes from about 5000' to 6500'. And there are 232 Stairs on it. I just have a crazy, almost meno metabolism. I can gain 5 - 8 lbs literally overnight and weighed more by exactly 10 lbs when I came out of hospital after having 7-8 lb babies than when I went in. Go figure!

I'm one whose weight also goes up anddown but mostly up. I'll gain wright when i first start exercising. Then I lose inches mostly in my butts 1st, 2nd in my hips and 3rd in my breast. Last to go will be my 8 month old looking stomach:headache: Then once my tummy starts going down so does my weight. But I hate starting exercising becase I feel even bigger at first:confused3

Right now I can so go to sleep:guilty: I almost feel asleep early but I found a lil energy to sweep and steam mop my house and its a lot of tile-lol!

BTW- my shortsw were the problem the other day with rubbing. I had on P.J. short so its only stitched in the crocth(area) and not down the leg . I had a different pair and what a difference:yay:

Since I started 3 days ago with the walking I have gained 5 lbs. and feel HUGE! I also had been pretty active in the days prior to walking by painting my master bedroom. Is this a typical "phenomenon?" I have never noticed this before when I've started any exercise. I typically start WW and then get into an exercise routine after a couple of weeks. But not this time. I haven't been eating much because my appetite is already dropping (Yea!:cool1:) and I have been drinking tons of water. Any body have any ideas about why this happens? TIA!

When you exercise, muscles hold water/fluid & it takes awhile to go down. Also, walking frequently makes your fingers puff up as while going long distance, your blood flow is directed more towards your legs and organs. They sell 'runner's gloves' if it's a real problem. I haven't been able to wear my rings since DD was born 19 yrs ago. Even had them enlarged & I puff up overnight & they fit, but drive me nuts.

Good Morning!

Well I got my three miles in today. That last 1/2 mile was pure torture today. Did I mention I hate exercise??!! :)

Was considering going to the fireworks tonight but it's just too crowded for me. I'll go to our little local one tomorrow and hang at the high school with my band booster buddies.

Everyone have a great Friday.

Yesterday I didnt do any walking . I was so tired I fell asleep around 5pm-5:30 and didnt wake up until this morning at 7am. For the last week my sleeping has been off with 2 night not being able to go to spleep in 24 hrs and the rest of the days going to bed at 4am. I hope i'm back on track now. My sleep was so deep I even was dreaming my deceast mother. Oh and I was eating a brown lunch bag full of pinaeapple spears and I was pregnant-lol!
I did wake up soooo hungry since I missed dinner lastnight.
Hope to walk tonight.

I did my walk thia morning in 55 minutes. Felt good to start. I'm thinking of skipping tomorrow and doing 3 miles Sun and 3 miles Tues. Giving me a rest day in between. Great job everyone. DH uses body glide to prevent chafing when he runs. Any sports store (Dick's, Sports Authority, Modells) carries it. I usually get it for him as a stocking stuffer

I did my 3 miles today on my treadmill--it was just too dang hot and there was an air quality alert so I stayed inside.:)

Thanks to those that mentioned bodyglide. I will keep it on the list just incase.

I need to take dd shoping for a gift for her friends. Hoping to do my walking when I get back.

whewwww! i did my 3 miles tonight. Started off pretty easy but toward the end had a lil trouble but I did it! It took me 55 or 57 min. Dh and dd were in and out of the dining area and that might have messed up my focus. Usually i'm left alone. I hope everyone is staying motivated especially with the holiday weekend and the heat!:goodvibes

Ok this might be TMI and I'm sorry. I havent had a period since March and that was with help of accupunture and it only worked once. Before that last period was in Aug2010 and that was because i was on provera to get a period. ANyways I have pcos hormone imbalance and fertility. Well I went to bathroom after workout and there was pink like when your going to start your period. I've had gotten period in the past when i've lost weight but usually within a week or two. Could this walking 3 miles a day already start having effect on my body this fast????I weighed myself and I was 2;bs heavier and i'm sure its water retention because I was swallen when i got off the treadmill. Just thought this interesting. Cant wait to see what happens in two weeks-lol!

dreamin_disney you must have really needed that sleep! And I hope that the walking helps you with your pcos!

I walked my 3 miles last night. I really was putting it off all day; I wasn't in the mood. That showed on my time - it took 5 minutes longer than the other ones have taken me. (57:15) Oh well, I still completed it!

4.45 this morning & most of it back on concrete! Yay!! the paw is healing!

Good for you! :cool1:

I did 3 miles in 49 minutes this morning. I was ready to stop after 1 mile, but I made myself keep going.

Keep up the good work everyone! :goodvibes

Just wondering, is there any difference between treadmill walking and out door walking? I use a treamill, but I was curious.

There probably is, but I have no clue what it would be. As far as I'm concerned if I'm up and moving and making an effort then it is all good. I prefer to walking outdoors, but I love having my treadmill as backup.

I walked my 3 miles tonight outdoors and it was so pleasant. It was 95 this afternoon--blech!

I did my 3 miles! 46:48...shaved more than 10 minutes off my time from yesterday!

Awesome timing!

I'm taking a break tonight. I went to the mall and did some walking but my foot doest feel good so I'm taking it easy tonight. Accupunture isnt working like i think it should be. Told dh that I need to go to chiropractor nextweek.

Wow that is a great! I can't seem to get 3 miles in under 1 hour yet! I can do it in 1 hour 15 mins. But I will keep trying! :)

I think that with a treadmill you are more consistant because the speed you put in is the speed you go. If you walk you make be walking slower and burning less calories. But bottom line walking anywhere is good. I also think its great because you/we are establishing a routine and hopefully a habit of walking. I'm hoping sometime soon that I don't have to struggle with the sleep demons in my head that try to tell me "sleep a little longer ...its OK"

looks like everyone is doing a great job! I just completed my 3 miles walk. I think the break a day in between was a good idea for me. I've notice I'm less hungry and I'm drinking more water.
